  2. Here's more details for the freebie: Kent Marine Nautilis Sea Squirt Feeding Prong... S$39.00 Aquarium hobbyists maintaining predatory species that require delicate handling (such as venomous fishes or those with numerous sharp teeth and/or poor eye-sight, or anemones with a powerful sting) now have a dual-purpose instrument for feeding their charges and delivering nutritional supplements directly to filter-feeding organisms. The Kent Marine Sea Squirt is a revolutionary new instrument with several unique features: - Contracted length of 21" (53cm), extends to 35" (89cm) for deep tanks or hard-to-reach areas. - Graduated tube is marked at each milliliter to enable ease of measuring the exact amount of food or supplement being added to the aquarium. - Holds up to 10-ml of liquid. - May be used to deliver foods in suspension or liquid supplements, as desired. - Extendable prong at tip of Sea Squirt may be used to deliver meaty-foods to anemones, eels, and other organisms that must generally be fed by hand. - Made of durable polycarbonate and silicone. - May be completely disassembled for cleaning

  9. Bro... I can't afford a 1/4hp lah... considering how hard it is for me to sell my existing chiller (I think $300 also cannot sell). So, can't really plan too far ahead... all I know is... my chiller is running 2 1/2 hours in a stretch and that's bad news... bad for my pocket... bad for me coz I'm like sweating every night No, I will not be adding more heat generating equipments to the setup Another thing is... I don't think the 1/4hp can support my next upgrade
  10. Emm... quite true... 75 US Gal is according to Aqua Medic. I guess that's a good enough an indication. It will get really complicated if I have to deduct my sand and LR (plus corals) from the water volume
  11. Wah buy fish get Yuma free!!! What a deal!!! Uppz for you bro
  12. Haha bro Naka... looking at the review and the selling price... this Chiller already satisfied the claim "Value for Money" Agree... furthermore comparing models/brands based on noise level can be a tricky process without the proper apparatus... but one thing for sure is... newer models always ensure (not all the time, but majority of it) a better product... unless the manufacturer suddenly decided to shift production... say from Europe to China... then it gets really complicated
  13. I'm also looking at upgrading my Chiller... here's the calculation provided by Arctica. List of heat generating powerheads/pumps: Return: Aquabee UP 1000 - 10W Chiller: Aquabee UP 3000 - 45W Skimmer: AquaMedic PH 2500 - 37W Wavemaker: Stream 6060 - 11W / Stream 6000 - 15W Others: Aquabee UP 500 - 5W / AquaMedic Dosing Pump SP3000 (external) - 4.5W Based on the calculation, my tank scores 0.11, just 0.01 exceeding the use of 1/10hp. The larger model 1/4hp is for 0.20. I think since my score is 0.11, I can just purchase the 1/5hp model. What you guys think?
  14. RO or DI is not good to be consumed by humans continuously as they are way too clean/sterile... you can have it everyday but shouldn't form 100% of your daily water intake. Sources of my daily water intake (weekday): 1) Office hours - POLAR distilled drinking water (from dispenser) 2) Home - Tap water using domestic filter system For me, drinking water straight from the tap is not advisable as there are too many sources/reasons tap water can be bad for our health... the water that came out of the water plant can be very clean... but after travelling through miles and miles of pipe works... some new, some 30-yeard old... some running alongside sewer pipes... worst happen at home... if you stay at an old HDB/apartment block, the chances of contamination is extremely high. The contamination can continues all the way to your water outlet (as what explained by bro Ikan83). So bro Hammy, if it is bad for the fishes/corals = it is bad for us (in the long term). I used to boil water before putting them into the fridge for chilling, now draw direct from my domestic (Mitsubishi Chemical brand bought from Best) water filter. Remember to change the filter every 7 to 9 months
  15. I (quietly) introduced a new toy yesterday... more like replacing actually. Old: AquaMedic PhosphatFilter 50% Carbolit/50% Antiphos Using Aquabee 500 New TLF Phosban Reactor 150 Pura Complete Using Aquabee 500 For those of you interested to buy my 3-months old AquaMedic PhosphatFilter (no media), kindly PM me your offer (a bit lazy to post in the Pasar Malam section). Also on sale: 1)Tunze Singlecontroller 7091 (3-months old) 2) AquaMedic Light Computer (1-month old)
  16. Wow! Definitely a good chiller for your tank size... can I have a bit more details such as chiller brand/model, pump used and tank capacity? Mine runs for 1.5hr (to chill 1.5ºC) at night and 2.5hr day time... definitely taking too long. Details: 75 US Gallons Teco RA240 (TW/4) Aquabee 3000
  17. Here's my take on the topic: 1) If you are to go FOWLR setup, go for some beautiful angels that a Reef Tank can't accommodate. For example the beautiful Emperor Angel... what a fine specimen but notorious with corals. So if you are into beautiful large fishes with extremely beautiful colours/patterns... go for FOWLR. One disadvantage of having a Reef Tank is to not be able to keep beautiful Angels properly... I know of a Senior literally letting his Blue Face Angel feasting/nipping on his probably $200 Prata!?! 2) Reef Tank is extremely beautiful but it can get very very complex. Not just time and money, the additives alone can kill. Target feeding and specific feeding can also get very boring... more like a chore really. As mentioned by a bro, the equipments needed for a Reef Tank can go on and on as reefers are often challenged to keep fishes and corals together in a enclosed environment. Chiller, Calcium Reactor, RO/DI water unit, overpowered lighting units, wavemakers are just a few that probably a FOWLR setup can avoid. The above list of equipments can cost $2000 to $4000 3) However, for a successful FOWLR setup, due to the naturally higher bio-load/wastes (larger fishes with ever larger appetite)... you will really need to invest in the following: a. A very efficient protein skimmer (a good guide is go with the best you can afford) b. A good denitrator (to remove NO3 so that you can avoid changing water every week) c. A good filtration system (even the old fashion trickling system can be quite useful in nutrient export - best work in conjunction with a denitrator). Have fun!
  18. No flash... but do a bit of colour enhancement before posting... or else mostly blue also
  19. Err bro... I heard Galaxy can be quite nasty with its stings... I heard only, so perhaps you wanna read a bit more... at least find a right placement for it They can spread pretty quickly (just like GSP) and can attached to your LR, so you might not be able to remove/relocate is later Every tank has its "doomed species"... I can keep almost all LPS/soft corals except Mushroom/Yuma... they tend not to open big-big in my tank... dunno why I heard they need relatively high nutrient water
  20. Very beautiful and exquisite Black Suns... this is the first time I see Black Suns up close... hint hint... you pix too large
  21. My Radioactive blah blah... luckily the green is very intense... or else looks just like common Batam Zoos... but the growth on Tonga branches is quite pretty
