  1. Thanks bro Acidjazz for your suggestion... oh yeah forgot you ran your 4 footer with aa 1/5hp... what temperature you set last time and how long does it take to chill 1ºC down? I need to know what to expect
  2. All the best to your sales bro... good price btw... hope to see your Deltec soon
  3. Haha... guys please remember that the testing I conducted previously was "unnatural" as the plastic tub is relatively very small compared to our actual tank... will probably drop by bro Lyz77's place tomorrow evening to take some shots... I did took some shots this morning but I left the camera in the car... a bit lazy to go down
  4. I'm even taking of making my own wavebox... I've owned one... so I know how it works... probably create a partition (maybe an extention of the overflow box) then hide 1 or 2 streams inside I am also avoiding any exposed pumps as I want to attempt RBTA again... they are just too pretty
  5. There will not be hood, I'm going topless & braceless... ATI Powermodul haning above... water level is 18" but the actual glass is 22" (so allow 4" to avoid splashing"... it will be based on a shallow reef concept, so there will not be high scaping... relatively low for current and light loving corals to sway left and right. I will pay a lot of attention in wave making... I want to mimic that part of the ocean. For sure will not go SPS with this tank... will leave that for my next project I also want to enjoy the tank from top view, so it can be quite interesting a concept And most probably will not introduce MH as heat is a major concern here... I am trying to use back my Arctica 1/5hp chiller I'm too broke already... perhaps set the temperature to min. 26.5ºC or 27ºC instead since it is shallow waters
  6. The Sydney trip will be more than 1 week... but the Dec trip will me 3 weeks long So will probably start another mega project beginning of next year... possibly right after CNY 07 I heard a 4ft tank (without water) is not going to be too heavy to move up to my attic office, the attic is concrete slabbed, so should be no problem. I will have to build a proper wooden cabinet to support the tank with a 2ft tank beneath it. If 2ft too cramp, I may consider 3ft but that's the max as I intent to fit the chiller inside the cabinet. Definitely will not use iron stand
  7. Hey... my Hammer looks so small inside your tank!!! You have one hell of a giant tank there mate!!!
  8. 3 sided... with the back against the wall... I want to create a strong current, bright, shallow environment... so some of my old corals will have to go... Maybe the backdrop can be slightly darker blue (not black) to add a sense of shallowness... will have to do a bit more research on this. What you guys think? Black or blue?
  9. I know... I told him that also when I saw it this morning... looks promising though So bro Lyz77, if it ever go zzzzz don't be sad coz it is to be expected
  10. Hahaha... no wonder... bro you better add the Rowaphos bit by bit. If you are using stocking, add 1/3 a stocking every 2 - 3 days. Or don't use all. I heard sensitive corals can be shocked by sudden addition of media such as Rowaphos and activated carbon (since you were not running any perviously)
  11. Ok I've decided to go with a rather shallow tank (in terms of height). I'm going to recreate a shallow reef environment (no choice). I've been looking at the proposed design... it will be impossible for me to dip my entire arm into the water... and I don't want to stand on stools (as I will be wearing working shoes)... sometimes I wear Polo Tee to work (casual days)... sometimes long sleeve with tie... I guess I really need to put all these to considerations or else I will find it very difficult and inconvenient to service it later So my latest design shows: Main tank: 48"W x 18"H (water level - actual non-bracing tank is 22" H) x 30"D Sump: 24"W x 12"H (water level) x 24"W Total volume: 130 US Gal Original design volume: 165 US Gal What you guys think? Will the 18" height makes my tank look like a LFS coral display tank?
  12. Oh... the pair of 2 spots are so cute!!! I might get a pair for my new tank Powder Blue looks quite healthy... all the best bro
  13. Yupe... what product you use made your Phosphate rise so high?
  14. Haha... it is bad... mine undetectable for many weeks now... err... perhaps something wrong with my test kit What product u currently using and how long u been using it?
  15. Haiz... too much restrictions... firstly space, then the old shophouse (my seat is at the attic actually... so 4 storey up narrow staircases)... also hoping to use back some of my old equipments... dun want to invest on new lightings and chillers... so got to cut down on water volume Ooops I'm leaking news out already... haha... ok guys might as well... I am decom my Percula 90 in 2 months time (before my Sydney trip)... LELONG LELONG!!! See list below
  16. Yes it looks kinda mad... really Update us on Rowaphos leh... test PO4 before introduction... thinking of using Rowaphos for my new tank
  17. Yeah that's a Flame Hawk and I think this is bro Altantis' most expensive fish All the best to your 2 new fishies bro... with Arcti-Pods™ and Henry's Mix... shouldn't be a problem lah
  18. Oh they are all very nice... but I will surely avoid SPS Had a discussion with my tank maker this afternoon... find that his proposal is a little too standard especially when it comes to the cabinet part... I want something more unique... so back to the drawing board
  19. Stop buying any LS from now (I know it sounds sad)... prior to your holiday (2 weeks before) give away (or sell) your Anemones and those LS you think you will not be transferring to your new tank. Lesser bioload will definitely do your system good, esp. the skimmer. Don't think your collection cup can collect 3 weeks worth of skimmate. If it ever overflow... disaster!!! Try dry skimming also (by adjusting air intake). Don't put main pump on timer, reduce water circulation can be a bad thing. I am also worried about your water level. Make sure all your equipments are not water level sensitive or else disaster again. You know what I suggest? If you are going to custom your new tank from a LFS, then order your tank 2 weeks from your holiday. Pay them deposit. Tell them you need to decom your 2ft and put your LS and LR with them for the 3 week. Once the tank is ready (cycling), then you slowly transfer back your LS to your new tank. I don't think all LFS is willing to do that, you may need to shop around. If you want, I can help you to ask around also... coz it's good to know who are the good LFS. I am going for a 3 week holiday in December also... now doing some planning too.
  20. Haha... aim for the sky... even if you can't reach in the end... you will still end up higher than the rest... emm... sound very familiar leh... I think I heard this when I was doing some Insurance blah blah 10 years ago (oops revealed my age)
  21. Oh dear... a very picky eater indeed... use a tiny cup, fill with a bit of tank water, then Arcti-Pods™... stir then add a bit of Garlic Guard and soak for 15mins. That will do... maybe you wanna try local vegetables such as Lettuce and Local Pok Choy. My Tangs love it!
  22. Hey... don't mention my name until like that lah... yes you should change your skimmer to Deltec MCE600!!!
  23. The base of the collection cup... a nice touch
