  1. A little disappointed by the reef tank... not as grand as it should be IMO
  2. Now moving into the Northern Oceans... the Great Barrier Reef... Start with a touch pool... the reef tank can be seen at the back
  3. Grey Nurse Shark... the largest shark in this exhibit... Grey Nurse Sharks are protected with fines up to AU$220,000 can be imposed for killing a Grey Nurse Shark Did you know that about 180 species of sharks live in Australian waters but only about 10 of these are considered potentially dangerous to man? (Grey Nurse Shark not one of them)
  4. Australian Smooth Stingray... run for your life The aquarium relies on artificial lighting for this oceanarium... currently it is very dark probably simulating dusk
  5. The Open Ocean Oceanarium (still categorized under Southern Oceans) This exhibit's temperature is being kept between 21ºC and 24ºC using heaters
  6. Sydney Harbour exhibit... kinda messy actually
  7. Imagine being trapped inside a tank with some GIANT AUSTRALIAN LOBSTERS... I think it should look terrified

  9. Little Penguins... smallest of the 18 species of penguin and the only one to breed in Australia Did you know that little penguins can sleep at sea and may spend weeks away from land?
  10. Very inspiring... what a beautiful sight
  11. With underwater tunnels (see the person underneath the Australian Fur Seal)... Did you know that seals can adjust their temperature by holding a flipper in the air?

  13. A touch pool... she's holding a shark egg shell... lots of empty snail shells
  14. Emm... funny looking Suns... the tentacles are very curly and translucent white... they call it SUNSHINE CORAL
  15. Lovely... looks like Cup Coral to me That round fishy is very cute too Notice the shell bed...
  16. First coral exhibit... kinda small Fluorescent Coral? Refer to next pix...
  17. I shall skip all the freshwater exhibits... mostly mangroves, hermits, crocs, platypus & etc... Let's start with Seahorses... lovely Categorized under Southern Oceans (Great Autralian Bight)

And they open extra long hours too... amazing for Australian standards Date opened: July 1988 No. of animals: over 11000 No. of species: 650 Total volume of water: 6 million litres Freshwater supply source: Sydney Water (tap water) Saltwater supply source: Darling Harbour (water from the harbour itself) This is my fourth visits... there are some new additions I heard
  20. Sydney Aquarium is situated at the Darling Harbour itself... so it's very very accessible for tourists... can't possibly miss it
  21. Now this train will take us directly to the Sydney Aquarium... at first we thought the ride is free... then gotto pay AU$4.50 per person
