I saw them this morning too... in very good shape and very nice size... not too tiny -
Bro Madmac, what's ur KH consumption per day? I started dosing KH + Ca using a dosing pump today Hope to learn from experts like you
-
Yeah... it was ID wrongly... but don't worry... Flamingos are reef safe
-
It can help dry the plates and defrost the chicken too
-
Emm... dun be angry with the receptionist She's quite pretty
-
Adjusted the water level higher within the skimmer chamber... producing "wetter" skimmate... the cup shows 1 day worth
-
Connected the Grotech Dosing Pump TEC III NG this afternoon... surprisingly it is quite straight-forward (and idiot proof) I enlarged the hole on the bottle cap to allow for the insertion of rubber tube... as easy as 1-2-3 actually Here are my initial settings: Pump 1: Grotech kH+Ca 1 (KH) 50ml = 0.285ºkH (for 700L) ml/day: 50ml Cycle/day: 4 (12.5ml / 6 hours apart) Starting hour: 12:00 1000ml bottle can lasts: 20 days Pump 2: Grotech kH+Ca 2 (Ca) ml/day: 50ml Cycle/day: 4 (12.5ml / 6 hours apart) Starting hour: 15:05 1000ml bottle can lasts: 20 days Pump 3: Grotech Corall A (Strontium, Magnesium, Potassium, Barium, Lithium...) ml/day: 10ml Cycle/day: 2 (5ml / 12 hours apart) Starting hour: 17:10 500ml bottle can lasts: 50 days Temporary location till I return from my holiday

Since I've completed the 7-days test... it's time to adjust the water level higher... so that I can get wetter skimmate

Finally... 7 full days of running... (pix taken yesterday morning) As expected... skimmate keep pouring out
-
Yes... the temptation of not dosing anything (manually) for the next 6 months Will have to explore a bit... I got a feeling it may take a bit of experimenting
-
May I suggest Aquabee 2000i
-
Now... fill it up with water!!!
-
Yes bro... but I only mentioned my feeding regimens as the LS and corals are pretty constant throughout the past week
-
Since I only have a 5 days left before I go for my holiday... I've decided not to hook-up the Calcium Reactor... I will be more comfortable if could monitor it for at least 2 weeks before letting it run by itself Meanwhile... I've decided to invest in a Grotech Dosing Pump (3 channels) to help me dose kH, Ca and essential elements while I'm away Once the CR is up and running... I will use the Grotech Dosing Pump solely for dosing elements (Grotech Corall A, B & C) and coral food (liquid form)

A healthy/thriving Rainbow Monti will have a blue/red base with green polyps... that's RGB... hence the name Rainbow... but unfortunately... mine is now a Tree Monti (Brown and Green)
-
How about putting your Lion into my sump for a day or two? Here's a shot of my Rainbow Monti... the blue base is very slowly coming back... the Blue Staghorn in the foreground (by bro Sapp) is growing well with good colour retention

The Deep Blue Sea in my HDB! (2'x1'x1.5')
jervismun replied to johntanjm's topic in Members Tank & Specs
I've been using Marine Environment with good results... optimum levels for Ca and Mg... although KH is low... I am now testing the Grotech Salt... Grotech is a bit more troublesome with additional dosing of Ca and Mg (provided with the salt)... I think generally, ME is a good salt for that price range -

My preferred way to raise Mg is to change salt water (those brands with high Mg)... this will also benefit the system in overall... base on my experience... once the Mg is more or less set at a steady level (say 1400ppm)... it will stay there without too much maintenance. Calcium on the other hand (together with KH) requires constant attention as they get used up quite rapidly especially when you have large quantities of LPS, SPS and LR filled with coralline algae Bring your Mg back on track and you will have less problem with Ca ... vice versa -
