Like another reefer said, turning up the air DOES affect the performance of the skimmer. I did some experiments. With air v/v full open, the bubbles are MUCH larger. And the skimmate much less. More importantly, the foam level is very inconsistent, varying quite a lot, and may result in frequent overflows. With air v/v partially opened, the bubbles are very nicely compacted in the reaction chamber. More importantly it produces more consistent thick foam and the foaming level seldom vary much...resulting in less chances of overflow once the final setting is done. i did an extreme where i removed the entire v/v and it was juz a gaping big hole...my goodness...it was almost impossible to tune.

u did mention the permanent magnet spinning loosely on the impeller shaft. I dun tink it's supposed to do tat, since the magnet will spin and supposed to drive the impeller. Hence the humming sound you got...probably the magnet spinning around the impeller assembly. If u can, check tat the magnet isnt cracked, and perhaps try to apply juz a little drop of super glue to the magnet. it shd work.

hi all. Me juz set up overflow box...only to realise the potential areas of disaster as discussed. Yes, the siphon needs to be maintained, otherwise it will break, due to bubbles...as i discovered one day. I am now using a small pump to maintain the vacuum. And so if it breaks, the main tank is likely to overflow. And, if and when the siphon breaks, the return pump will o'heat from water starvation...not a good thing too...coz the return pump usually quite ex, not to mention a fire hazard. So a float switch is my best bet...something which i'm looking into getting. Hence would appreciate any help/info on where to get one. thx! jimmy

Hello fellow reefers. Hope to get info where i can find/get replacement impeller/magnet assembly for my SEIO 1100, coz the magnet developed 2 large cracks, literally split into 2 liao...obviously refuse to work now. many thx for any info!

Hi all. My plans for an upgrade to a 4ft tank fell thru. Hence selling off the above. 1. JEBO twin tubes PL (30W blue and white). Excellent condition, turned on only to check tat it's working... 2. AquaMedic MH. Modified with Tridonic and Magnetic ballasts, driving 2x150W BLV-224321 HIT-DE150bl MH bulbs. External condition of the light i would rate 7/10, but the internal parts are all quite new. As i have absolutely no idea what is the mkt-going rate for these, pls make any reasonable offers. All offers considered. I guess i can open them for bidding...no reserve price. Items must go, else wife will be forever on my back... Trying to attach some pix...
