I have seen people successfully keep clam under PL although they must be place high up. The problem with pl is that they worn out very slowly and it is almost unnoticeable to ###### eyes but your livestock know it so when you finally found that the bulb has worm out, your live stock are already in deep trouble......

So that means darren, you bought the wrong fish laio white- cheek surgeon aka powder black is a very delicate fish that usually do not survive long. It is very prone to ich. not recommended to have them.

Q4 if you want to keep lps and other stuff under MH, it will be even better as t5s could not penertrate as well compare to MH into depth of the tank....... BTW once you use MH, you must think of heat problem and suggest you to get a chiller.

IMo for 4 feet tank, try not to skim on skimmer... IMo thats the most equipment in your tank compared to your lights and chiller....
