  1. Yup. Once you think you have enough purple/red coraline algae. The dosage can be reduced. I was using half of the regular dosage when I had enough coraline previously in my old tank. Exisitng coraline algae will continue to mutliply but pace will slow down. I did this when my tunze went "dead". Lesson learned. Lucky replacement shaft was not that ex. Thought the whole pump is gone initially. All the best in your growth.
  2. Jervis, do look out on your tunze. Open the cover at least every 2 or 3 weeks and watch out for coraline algae growth. It may creeped into your shaft and jammed it. I had this experience before.
  3. Hi Bros, just to add my experience with this product but not trying to boast. Sorry, this could be a little long winded. Pls read only if you are ok with it. I have been using AragaMilk about 2 years+ ago before it is available in Singapore and now using the purple-up. I first chance upon this product in 1 of the shop at Bangkok weekend market. In fact the price there is cheaper than here even now. Being a lazy person, i decided to use this product as the description on the label make the product sound like a good all-in-one. True enough when I used the product on my old 6 ft tank. Coraline algae started to bloom within 2 months of continous dosing. there is no clear dosing instruction on the label then, so the method I used is to drip slowly into main tank until it is a bit hazy. I have since stopped using other prodcut except Kent Superbuffer dKH to further boost the KH as I have a lot of corals in the tank then. In Apr, I decomm my old tank due to moving house and now using purple-up in my new tank. The result is not as fast as the old tank which I think is due to the maturity cycle. Take note my old tank was already running for 3 years+ when I started using AragaMilk. But I'm starting to see some coraline growth now. My PH has been stable in the region of 8.05 to 8.10. I know it is a bit low but my experience over the last few years does tell me it is ok as long as the corals continue to open up. My old tank has PH reading of about 8.10 to 8.15 for the last 4 over years before i decomm it. Only problem I had is the nitrate level as I keep a lot of fishes and feed them heavily. So I was never successful with SPS even now. Thanks for reading.
  4. Yes. First pic is a confirm female Square Anthias(Also known as yellow anthias for some). The 2nd pic is a male Square. As anthias in different locations tend to develop a slight differences. So there is a tendency that the pics in the particular website will look different from the fish u bought. You can try this website. www.marinecenter.com . I find their pics are generally closest to what we get from the local LFS. Not promoting their website here. But the website do provide some useful info on each fish. Cheers!!!
  5. Hi, Need a few pcs of rocks(Dead one oso can) to add to my current tank. Preferably big one. Please PM me on the price and size. Thanks, Thomas
  6. Colin, try the new Purple Up. Is faster than AragaMilk. From the same company, CarribSea. Think Seet still have 1 or 2 more bottles... Selling like hot cakes. I have been using these 2 products for more than 2 years liao. Can pass some to you to try out but only next week as I'll be off to Perth for the nx 5 days. Can u SMS me, coz my phone got wipe out.. Lost your number liao. Txs.
  7. Ya. kanna Attack in forum as well... Actually 600series is really overkill for you unless u planned for upgrade to large tank 5 & above. Seet, if u are looking at this. You got another potential customer....
  8. Another thing you may want to check is the flow of your water. Does the water flow to chiller and back to sump(1st method) or to tank directly(2nd method)? Assuming if you are using the 1st method. You will need to have a faster return pump and the returned chilled water need to place as near to the return pump as possible in order to have maximum chilled water in your main tank and not the sump water. Hope my explanation is not too confusing. hehe..
  9. Hmmm.... sound like what i got.. None item missing... Maybe must mentioned if come with rowalith anot... Understand that that is out of stock... Not sure if the stock is in at RD..
  10. Sand Star do have this leg "disappearing" act. Not really is harlequin shrimp. It can be caused by water quality as they are more sensitive to nutrient changes. Once they "survive" thru, the legs will grow back. No issue to survive on 2 or even 1 leg.
  11. Not sure if this help. i'm using a thick wire with the edge filed sharply. I have managed to kill some small crabs using this method. Need to kill them during the nite time thou.
  12. Hey Bro. Hope you like the frags I pass you. You should be seeing the green zoos multiply quite quickly. It is 1 of the few frags which broke from my giant colony when i shift tank earlier. Have been with me for about 3 over years. Let me know when you want to collect the converted male blue eye anthia. Please note that this guy is very agressive. Confirm feeding like shit. Will sell away if you decided not to have it. Cheers!!!
  13. Bro Colin, Will you be in town this week. I can bring it to my office and you can pick the frags from me. Will pass you 2 suns as well. Let me know. Bro Jacobus, Just a note. Since you are using family car to transfer the tank. You need to ensure the tank is flash with flesh water or as dry as possible before you move it into the car. Get many newspaper or rags to put it under the tank in the car when transporting as well. You don't want to let the salt water creeped into the car... the result can be disastrous.. Speaking from my friend's experience. This is 1 reason why I always carry a container in my car when I visit LFS. To prevent accidentally leakage or burst packing. Just my 2 cents worth.
  14. Yup, pistol shrimp do make the 'tapping' sound as well. the difference is the loudness. Bro, u still interested in the zoos frag from my old colony? I can pass u a Acan frag as well. Let me know. Cheers!
  15. The green one. In fact both are quite similiar. Only that the green one has added spirulina. Good Luck!!! Cheers!!!
  16. Currently I'm feeding my fishes with ML food for a while liao. All the fishes are eating it including the tiger queen anthias(another picky fish like purple queen). Get the one with spirulina.. got more smaller bits which the queen anthias like to pick on.
  17. Mopiko??? ointment izit? haha... not sure leh.. waz it? Anyway, Bro Dazza pointed to a important part. If the constant feeding suddenly stop when u go overseas or due to work commitment. The fish will suffer and died even it is in your tank for months.
  18. My record is abt 6 months before they suddenly decided to die on me. They respond very well to the ebiko(shrimp roe). But this is quite ex for feeding fish. You can get them from Cold Storage or Shop&Save. Take like 1/4 spoonful each time from the container depending on numbers of fishes. Just flush them with water coz they are pre-seasoned with salt. Just sharing. I also find the feed good for other picky fishes as well. Note: is Ebiko not Tobikko which is bigger. Can try Tobikko for bigger fishes.
  19. Bro, Suggest you sell them loose. Coz not many people out there can take 120KG in 1 go. Just my 2 cents worth.
  20. Thanks Bro. Very very good price indeed for sure a big frag i bought. Anyone who need a good size orange monti frag... Please do not miss.
  21. I have some success with Rainford's Goby on diatom. For sand shifting, if you don't like starfish coz something they just happily "disintegrate" by themselves. Can try the twinspot goby. Very active and good if your sand bed izit too deep. Good thing is they will help to clear the food at the bottom. Probably want to add 1 or 2 Brittle star to further help clean up the food from sand bed.
  22. Yes, Sally lightfoot will eat them and your coralline algae as well. Once they run out of food, your fishes will be next.... I have this experience myself. Unless you can catch them after they finish the "job" which is quite tought as they are very speedy... Give me a call when you are around town. Skimmer still in my car. Cheers!!!
  23. Bro, Fantastic workmanship. Let me know if you need a lift to pick up the LR. Can pass you the skimmer at the same time. Know you are a very busy man. Cheers!!!
  24. Thanks all for the advice. Have past the fishes to Bro ShootSimon. He is happy with the fishes... Cheers!!!
