Recommended feed pump is 1000Ltr/Hr but suggest you use a 1500 or 2000Ltr/Hr pump.

Weekly Update - 23 Feb to 01 Mar
thomas_lim replied to iskay's topic in Weekly LFS Stocks Report / LFS Info Centre
I agreed on the latter.. I think we should keep something we like, affordable and ability to upkeep. Humility is priceless P.S. I noticed that the weekly LFS update has become weekly chatline.. Hmmm.. maybe we should move the discussions to Kopitiam and leave the genuine update for easy reference for the general public.. -
Recommendation of reliable aquarium shops
thomas_lim replied to epicrates cenchria's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Maybe you want to ask yourself how much you want to commit in this hobby. You can go for a top class setup immediately or an average setup which can still produce the same result depending on your husbandry practise and commitment to the hobby. E.g. local tank setup with better equipments. IMO, either one will still please oneself depending on individual level of satisfactory point. I know some reefers here had deep pocket so pardon me if I said the below. In event that you will give up on the hobby la.. it is always good to have a "back-out" plan. So I would look at the resale value for my setup as well and put it in my equation. P.S. Not saying you will give up la.. Just my $0.02. -
Yup.. is a member of the Favia family. No obligation viewing for sincere buyer can be arranged.

Hi, Sadly, I need to let go of this maze shaped moon which I had for many years. Reason for selling is that it is "kissing" my monti every night with the tenticles and I had no other space to move them around. Size : Nearly 6" across Price : $35/- Picture taken under 12K lighting.

Adequate calcium = coralline growth?
thomas_lim replied to tiffanydunk's topic in General Reefkeeping_
Wilson, sorry ar.. I bet the differ on this in a way. High PO4 mean very slow Coralline Algae growth. In my old tank which had high NO3 & PO4 constantly I had coralline growing all over at the end of the 1st year. IMO, stable KH + Ca + St + Mg is more critical. And, your lighting + clarity of water play a big part too. -
IMO, don't try any angels if you want 100% reef safe fishes as they can be reef friendly for now and start to "feast' on your priced corals suddenly. The result can be Butterflies is also a no too as there are usually not reef safe and difficult to keep and some of the so called "reef safe" butterflies are Ex. Try fairy wrasses, some are some relatively affordable and nice. Like some reefers mentioned, they are "Gold medal" high jumper. Not advisable for tank without hood. If you are not into nutrient control, you can add 1 or 2 more tangs or the ever feeding anthias! Just my $0.02.

Buying American Wireless Pinpoint Thermometer
thomas_lim replied to Creetin's topic in Sell off/Pasar Malam Shop
Bro, I got 1. Still very good condition. Call me to discuss. Cheers! -
Bro, Tort preferred stronger current but not directly on them. You should see polyp extension when the current is right. The shape of the polyp is close to a stag.

Hmmm... I can sense someone trying to "poison" back instead.. LOL Ya.. thinking back... maybe it will be good to start small again.. I provide you with some frags!!!
-
My bad.. probably is my "######-eye". Is nice zoas lah anyway..
-
Yup. a sand bed is preferred. Try Ah Beng, usually he had lots to choose from all sizes. You should see be able to see 2 tanks beside each other which houses most of the different wrasses at the back row.
-
Bro, pardon me. It look more like sunflower to me. Just that the photo look more red than orange. I might be wrong.
-
Bro, compared to your old tank. Mine is still way below the standard you set. Solo, you too late liao.. Bro loster no more in the poison hobby liao..

Pauline, how big is your tank? If possible, I will suggest you get yourself a couple of small yellow wrasses. Maybe 2 or 3. Choose those young ones which is about 1inch+ size. They help in clearing most of the parasites in your tank. I used them personally and with good result. Be careful not to get the yellow candy hogfish instead which is less hardworking. They look quite smiliar. IMO, they are better wrasses to have compare to 6 lines which can get really aggressive once they are stablized in the tank. Here is 2 link with first one showing a pic of the yellow wrasse and 2nd one candy hog. http://www.freshmarine.com/golden-coris-wrasse.html http://www.marinecenter.com/fish/hogfish/candyhogwrasse/

The OR3500 should be good enough to act as chiller pump. From my understanding, PC chiller do not have flow restriction. You should get at least 2500L/H minus head lost. There is only a handful of chiller in the market which had restricted flow where high volume pump is not recommended. E.g. Teco RA680

The zoas from US are usually a few generations from those collected from the sea and tank raised which is why they are cleaner and healthy. Which also explain why their prices are higher and of course the freight factor too la. But not all shipments of US zoas is 100% healthy as some are "victims" of shipping and handling stress.

That's is not an issue.. but you need to cut down the fishes as spoken before to have better chances to substain the SPS. Bro wilsontantw, that is just a normal orange/red plating monti just that it has grew quite big over time. PM me if you want a frag, I was giving out earlier but should have no issue fragging 1 piece.
-
Another one to POISON you further!!! Taken under actinic with white balance correction. P.S. Nigel, remember I told you the big monti was moved down?
