What is the actual cost of owning a car in Singapore ?
thomas_lim replied to Nalin's topic in General Reefkeeping_
You may want to check out the insurance cost. It had been escalating over the years. Some dealer give first year free insurance so you tend to get blind sided by the cost. I had heard many cases where the premium had jumped 30% to 50%. And without any NCD. It is going to be very costly. Do note the comprehensive insurance of younger driver are a lot more compare to old man like me. Keeping my fingers crossed as mine is due in the couple of months. -
Don't think have that much. Let me weigh tonight and revert.

Is Sally Lightfoot Really Reef Safe?
thomas_lim replied to triggerfish's topic in General Reefkeeping_
They are not 100% reefsafe from my own experience but do not deny they are great algae cleaner! Once there is no more algae they fed on, they will pick on your LPS/softies. -
Here's a very good top view pic. The area is outside of the regular JTJ area. It is also known as Sunday market to the local. http://images.suite101.com/261987_chatucakmarketimage1.jpg

Reviving Bali Montipora
thomas_lim replied to TayHongSiang's topic in SPS and Advanced Reefkeepers Forum
In fact, 3 months is a good guide. But I had seen some of my "brownie" SPS recover after about 2 months. The length of recovery very much depend on how long the "browning" of the SPS was. And new owner's tank condition, the better the water quality and lighting, the better chance it will recover the colours. Personally, I found such an excercise a personal archievement. -
Agreed with Bro Solo on the value of each coral. Beauty in the eye of the beholder.. one man's meat is another man's poison.. If you started out this hobby 10 years back.. The price for a super red is max $50 and over time cost of business went up and availability of good species came down. So there is no fixed market price in this hobby.

Hi, Care to share how old your tank liao. Coz I had several frags of monti and digi which I can pass to you. I stayed in hillview area. Cheers! Thomas

both pumps are about 6"+ below the water level and abt the same angle as yours (1 at 2 o'clock the other at 10 o'clock) and the waves from each pump will clash against each other right in the top-middle of the tank. I like the way it is creating.. It really is a good equipment for those without wavebox.. Big money saving!!! I will be detuning the wave a bit next week to be on the safe side in preparation of my holiday in early July. You can say I'm kia-su.. lol

I had abt the same tank size with you. but my tunze is placed at each side. I had played with it for several weeks now. The pulse cannot be more than 0.48 sec. The best wave I got is at 0.45 sec. Both pumps set at 50/100 running alternate pulsing. Currently set at 0.48 as i don't know if the tank can hold the very strong wave effect for how long.
