Quick review: The Bm curve 9 skimmer broke in within 30 mins of running it. That's awesome considering I've had some skimmers which only break in after a few days. Below is what I have after 2 full days. I'm loving it!

Heart sank when I turned on skimmer and it didn't move at all. Realised the guys from DE aquatic didn't put in the impeller into the skimmer pump. Thankfully their service is good and agreed to drop off at my place

New toys from aquarama. Changed to a bubble magus curve 9. Pretty impressed with my curve 7 over the last 2 years. Got a wave maker as back up too. Jebao rw8 The euro adaptor that will finally save me from unnecessary shocks when my hand touches my ati case while hand is in water. And finally, found a frag station which could blend into my rock scape rather than mounting it in the corner of my display which is in my opinion really an eye sore. Don't have the luxury of a frag tank unfortunately The spoils from today...all for DE aquatics.

Day 8 Magnesium: 1730 Noticed one of my cynarina bleached a bit at this elevated magnesium level but gha is pretty under control and still concentrated only at the same few spots. Day 9 Magnesium: 1770 Calcium: 450 dKH: 11.2

Hi all, Have decided to sell my skimmer as I've upgraded to a new curve 9 after aquarama. Bubble magus curve 7: $80 (Have tried to clean as much as I can as shown in picture. Works perfect and love it's ease of use for my 3x2x2 tank with undetectable phosphates and nitrate. H2O fluidised reactor FMR75: $30 ( comes with all necessary pipings but no pump. By the way, does anyone know where else can I get the 1 gallon Kent Tech Magnesium besides sea life? Hoping to find a place nearer to the east/north east. Was at ah beng, iwarna, aquamarin yesterday and they all don't have. Didn't see Kent products on madpets website too.

However, I noticed that they came off much easier than before after dosing magnesium and also seem more brown. Notice some of them slowly coming out in chunks?

Updating 2 days in a row as I was too busy with new born yesterday. Day 6: Mg: 1830 Observation is that gha growth remained quite insignificant on day 6 Day 7: Mg: 1770 (ran out of Kent Tech M and stopped dosing already) Calcium: 445 Observation: The gha seemed to have grown a bit more today. Not sure if it a placebo effect knowing I have stopped dosing magnesium as I ran out 1 gallon in less than a week. The growth warranted a little harvesting session as shown in picture

Easing up on my magnesium dosing slightly today already. Day 5 of magnesium dosing: Magnesium level: 1695 Calcium: 470 I noticed my corals are growing lesser since the invasion of the gha as consumption of calcium is getting lesser despite same dosage on C Balance. Have reduced my C Balance dosing by 10ml. Some of the gha looks more brown today and also growth of gha seems to have retarded though existing patches of gha are still around, mostly on substrate. My kole and yellow tang as well as flame angel seem to be pecking around on the loose gha. Will continue to monitor.

Ok Sherman. Thanks for the tip. I'll try to do that whenever time permits. Yea, did notice more coming out and drifting around. Super hard to juggle man,especially with my latest frag...erm...I meant new born baby.

Day 4 of magnesium dosing. Magnesium: 1650 (dosing 600 mlof Kent tech magnesium yesterday but adjusted it to 500 ml this evening) Carbonate: 10.1 Observations. Today seems to see a tiny little bit more gha growth on certain portions of my rock and sand but would think it is still way slower than the growth weeks ago. Hope its slowly slowing down in growth and will eventually die out. Downside is that my skimmer had been behaving erratic. Sometimes water level below neck. Sometimes overflow. Not sure how thats affecting my skimmer. Looking forward to upgrade to a bubble magus curve 9 skimmer next weekend at aquarama.

Day 3 of magnesium dosing. Magnesium: 1530 Calcium: 460 Observations: Pretty much the same as yesterday which somehow looks cleaner than a week before. Usually the existing gha patches would have grown longer and thicker from yesterday but today don't see that happening. I'll also alternate calcium and carbonate testing as I read that it may cause calcium to go up and carbonate to drop with magnesium dosing. Looking promising so far.

Kudos to Dan Lee from CR aquarium who was ready to replace my laminates. Very prompt service as usual and highly recommended for reliability. Took my doors the next door I asked him for help to replace laminates. My interim measure below since I'm expecting guests tomorrow and a big gaping hole doesn't look nice. Haha.

Raised magnesium to 1500 exactly today using seachem magnesium. Carbonate: 9.1 Not sure if it's placebo effect but I thought the sand bed looks visibly brighter and cleaner today though there are still remnants of gha on substrate. Also notice 1chunk of gha coming loose and floating around. As I've finished using the whole seachem, I bought the legendary Kent Tech Magnesium (1 gallon) liquid from sea life to try. Will attempt to raise it to 1600 by tomorrow and keep that steady. Cross fingers but I feel quite positive about this. Will continue my regular updates on this next few weeks.
