  1. Final picture of the day. Purple monti cap frag which is slowly getting better in colour. Can't quite capture colour on my phone though.
  2. Celebrating 1,000 posts with current less than ideal fts after removing some huge heads of sps smothered by gha recently. Still struggling with gha on certain spots if you can see them
  3. Quite slow growth considering its a monti cap. When I first got the galaxy frag in Nov 14. Jan 15 Jun15
  4. Galaxy monti frag from reddevil growing nicely alongside this mini rbta. This species for rbta from aquamarin doesn't grow big at all which is fantastic. Adds colour without taking up space.
  5. Starting to like the green sinularia a lot from iwarna. Hope they will retain their colour even when they grow.
  6. Gsp all sold. Will update once they grow again. Ups for the lobo.
  7. 2 drags of bright green star polyp for sale too. Each frag is about 3x1 inch not attached onto any rock. It will just be like a flap of skin. Per gsp frag: $15
  8. Hi all, Selling this rare bright orange lobo. It is about 8 inches in diameter when fully blossomed. Been with me for 2 years and selling as it's getting too big and restricting flow around the area Pictures taken minutes ago. Selling $100 non negotiable. Collection at fernvale along jalan kayu anytime today or tomorrow or Sunday morning. Please pm me. Thanks.
  9. Hey bro, yea, everytime I change water, I'll suck out all the detritus in my sump. Besides that, there's only the filter wool which I'll wash/change when required. Anyway, thanks for offering your sps bro. I think I want to hold off sps for a while until maybe the itch kicks in again. haha.Your galaxy monti frag is doing great in my tank though
  10. 2 years on, it all came to nought. A look at this nice valida I bought in september 2013 and finally RIP. Just one of the 3 big heads of SPS that was lost recently. But somehow, the tank actually looks cleaner after removing these sps as there suddenly seems to be a lot more space and flow all over the tank. Not a bad thing to restart also I guess. Anyway, I decided to bleach the dead valida and use it as a home decoration as the shape got pretty nice. Will be planning to rescape a little bit in the coming months once things are more settled New beginning!
  11. One month after I started the elevated magnesium dosing, I realise that the gha still cant be eradicated totally. The triton test also confimed that phosphate level in water column is negligible and conclusion is that the phosphates are leeching from my rocks/substrate. I'll just wait for all of it to leech out. In the last 1 month of elevated magnesium, I've also lost a couple of sps that has been with me for 2 years, most of them growing 4-6 times the size of the usual aquacultured sizes. They succumbed to either the smothering by the gha remnants or/and elevated magnesium. I've decided to stop having so many sps in my new mini rescape of the barren areas and replace with easier and more colourful corals. Guess not much time to care for tank also after arrival of my boy. Sighz. More pictures to follow of developments but here's what I bought over the weekend to replace those gone sps. Fiji green sinularia. At least it looks like some sps. May just convert this to lps/softie tank only at the rate I'm getting frustrated in the last 3-4 months. haha.
  12. Yup they do recommend remedy only for those levels which are lower than normal but I guess for a non triton system user liker myself (i consider mine more berlin method), it's really just adding those additives which are lacking. For those which are too high like my magnesium, im still relying on water changes to bring them down or those media absorbing unwanted stuff.
  13. Thanks for sharing bro. I'm using the metasorb by 2 little fishes upon recommendation by my friend. Quite expensive product for that small little pouch of synthetic polymer but apparently it's quite good.
  14. I have a suspicion that it leeches aluminium though it does pretty well in keeping phosphate under control. Did a triton test and noticed elevated aluminium in my tank which most probably comes from theis aluminium based phosphate remover. Suggest to keep to the GFO.
  15. I remember golden octopus has them occasionally too. Remember to do coral dips after purchases though.
  16. I feel for you too in the battle against algae. Still looking good with the lps though. Don't give up the fight bro against algae/cyano. Actually lps and soft corals also add to some texture and colours to the tank too.
  17. Interesting results from the triton lab tests. Nope I haven't given up my fight against gha and wanted to find if there's any issue with my water or is it really just the live rocks leeching phosphates. Here we go. Aluminium Is too high and iodine too low. Can't quite figure out what is the source for the super high Value for Se(Selenium) and Li (lithium). Don't even know what is Selenium. Any gurus can advise the possible source for these 2? Any also, what's the best way to remove aluminium? Polyfilter only way?
  18. Thanks for the tip bro. I'll see if I can yank it out tomorrow as I epoxy them onto the live rock previously. Haha.
  19. Super heart pain. Even my candycane which has been growing nicely last 2 years is slowly succumbing to being smothered by gha. I see the beginning of the end.
  20. 3 weeks since I tried the elevated magnesium method, I still have not s much success as I wanted to eradicate the green hair algae. And worse still, some of my sps polyps are either not opening up like the orange digi shown below or stn from the bottom like my lime green staghorn. Current mg level at 1695 and calcium at 410 as of today. I think I shall just start lowering my mg already to normal levels and just bear with the gha by manual plucking.
  21. Hey bro, you could also consider razali from de aquatics if you don't mind brand new or if really no response here. He carries them.
