  1. i think most of the sps at PR lost colour liao...the montis are still ok though but i would suggest saving up this week and not buy anything coz there's gonna be new sps shipment next week...haha!!! lets get excited!!! by the way, the last time i went to t9* 2-3 weeks ago, they still have quite some christmas worms...
  2. doubt it's gonna be easy to super glue it...u can actually just squeeze it into some small holes in your live rocks...it'll attach onto it soon...i just fragged my toadstool leather too. stuffed some into the holes of LR, and some of the frags, i tied a rubber band to a loose piece of rock...or ucan also use some geen netting and wrap it around the frag together with the rock that u want it to grow own...nice yellow polyps..thought should try to multiply them and sell..haha. help ease financial burden of this hobby..check out garf.org for coral propagation
  3. depends on the size also..if u get those mama hermits which are 1-2 inches, they'll prob disturb your fishes and topple your corals...get those small ones...they generally dun disturb anything....
  4. nope..was pretty sure i wouldn't be able to catch it hiding in the acro colony last night...but this morning it went to my other acro frags...so i just removed the whole frag which hasnt encrusted over the rock and removed it...lucky huh!!!
  5. erm..can't really tell if it's hair leh..the shell looks pretty rough and coarse to me when i got it out of the water...the hair on the crab is very very short right? more like it's spiky???
  6. yah...i laid it to rest already..haha...fed it to my brother's fresh water fish.... decided not to take any chances and since that crab is highly likely to be the one causing the damage...the green shrimp( pistol) and the other crab( porcelain crab) are definitely not the ones, as u've told me..so left with the last crab..thanks alot for your help again.
  7. they will live as long as there's oxygen...u can try feeding them with yeast if u want them to grow!!!...
  8. ok. good news!!! i've just caught the crab, spidy...but i still need a confirmation. are the tips of the pincers of a hairy crab black? the shell looks abit rough when i took it out of the water..could be the hair that makes it look rough.
  9. hi, just heard from spider that it does no harm too..apparently it's the hairy crab that's doing the harm...i just managed to catch it out but can i have a confirmation, is the tip of the pincers of a hairy crab black??
  10. Forgot to ask...by the way, how does a hairy crap damage the acro? it eats away the tissue on the acro izzit? thanks for all the help...
  11. ok...great!!! any pics of a hairy crab? i know most acros comes with a resident crap..but i can't really tell the difference between a porcelain crab and a hairy one? porcelain crabs got no hair on it at all izzit? i've got a crab which has alot of tiny hairs on it. could it be the culprit? how to catch it out if it is? tweezer??
  12. Hi spider, thanks for the help..oh..pistol..haha..weird name. so that means the pistol isn't the one doing the damage izzit??? that's good! hmm...but is there a possibility that, because there are also 2 small crabs living in the colony, they shade off that particular area of the acro, causing it to turn white? my water parameters are ok...so dun think it's because of my water nitrate: 5 nitrite/ammonia: 0 calcium: 420 dKH: 8 temperature: 26-28 lighting: 10000k 250w 13" above my 3 feet tank... the acro is about 6 inches below the water surface. directly under my MH
  13. hi all, this is urgent!!! just noticed a small white patch on my acro. and i realised that there is some peppermint shrimp look alike living between the branches. it looks alot like a peppermint shrimp( shape wise) except that it's almost translucent and green which really blended in with my acro. really worried that it might belong to the same family as the peppermint shrimps and are eating away my acro tissues(which i suspect it is doing now). Any idea what is that?? and who knows how to remove them??? just as my acro is starting to encrust over the rock and grow, this has to happen...help!!! tried to suck it out while changing water just now but not working...

  15. i can't remember the make or model....it's a venturi type skimmer...i'll try to find the make for u soon if possible...
  16. yup, keep playing with the height of the water level in the skimmer using the control valve..should be red colour if i'm not wrong... fine bubbles are good!!! takes some time and playing around before u'll get the optimum results.... i took 1 week with my skimmer before it started to skim out the think black dirt that i want..all the best...the height of the water level in the skimmer should be slightly below the neck ....it'll take some time for the water to start breaking into foam and overflowing into the collection cup though..hope that helps
  17. hi, was thinking of lowering my lights too..but worried about the heat... any rough gauge how much an inch lower would cause the temperature to increase by? mine is now 13" above with my 250w....
  18. hi robe..haha...no comments on that...hmmm.....not that nice to divulge too much without his knowledge lah... most 21 years old has just been to NS...
  19. oh, i see some ricordeas very near to the acro right??? it'll prob burn the acro if it touches it.....how big is your tank by the way? put the acro in an area with lotsa water circulation and under direct lighting..i think reef plus does help for me too in helping corals recoveer...
  20. a good sign if the polyps are starting to extend (flowers bloomed as u called it) and if there are no white(bleached) spots around.... look for any signs of the tissue receding too....RTN.... if algae starts to grow on them, it's not good....
  21. can get some live sand from the farms if the owner allows...got mine from pas** ri* ...one of the farms there...in fact, if u have live rocks, some of the organisms will slowly(takes months) take to the sand...and after some time, your sand naturally becomes live too....
  22. yup, throw away the water...gotta keep playing with your skimmerto get the best results..if the collection cup always collect water, it means that the water level in the skimmer is too high. lower the water level in your skimmer....
  23. ok, forgot to be more specific, i'm actually looking for those pink birdnest frags and montipora frags... those at PR that sat night are too big for my tank....i dun mind a small colony of monti or bird nest for my tank too if u have...can pm me if u have? thanks alot!!!!
  24. hi joe p, Any pics to show of the frags u wanna sell??? pretty interested..and ready for sps..heheh....
