oh, you've seen people placing them together and nothing happens??? will try and do that and monitor for a couple of days...just got a blue florida from ML..heard u're really into mushys..should go have a look..nice but expensive...beginning a liking for mushy's after seeing RC's TOTM...heh...
-
yah..new sps shipment just came in last night....should be ready for viewing already...

quite some contrast with the salt comparison i've seen on RC....apparently, instant ocean seems to welcome the greatest support by the members in RC. i think almost 90% of them rated instant ocean as the best or are using it....but quite a low rating over at the link u gave... honestly, the link seems like an advertising site for the salt that scored a 100 marks...any thoughts, people?

Yah man...i've also been having my 2 cleaner shrimps giving birth every few weeks when the nights are out...really a sight man. u see them scuttling their legs and out comes the babies...have been thinking of culturing them and selling too..haha...imagine if i can keep just 20% alive and upon them reaching adulthood, i'll be reach man!!! can support this hobby. but too much f a hassle also...gotta monitor when they give birth and separate them etc...argh. good food for my corals anyway...but the funny thing is i've got only 2 cleaner shrimps. so how do both get pregnant at the same time??

Hi, Not really a ricordea guru...need some advice. i'm thinking of keeping a group of different ricordeas together. Was thinking if they are all compatible with each other or will they burn each other like they would burn sps?? I just got myself one huge blue florida from ML today. And i've got a couple of green Yuma and orange Yumas which i would like to put them together....Thanks in advance

yup AT, can't wait to see it a year down the road..bet you're a perfectionist... I'm also constantly finding new and changing my aqua scaping...got almost 70% of how i've planned for it to look like...i think it's good that u had so many caves and drop offs..creates more space and looks more natural.. gonna try out the aqua scaping that u had in the left side of your tank..been thinking of having monti colonies but didn't know how to put them so that they'll stand out..i think letting them overhang from a cliff would look best...like yours...was just wondering if u spend 2- 3hours or more just to arrange your corals each time u get new ones...coz i do!!haha. back ache man

takes alittle bit of playing around and knowing your tank well...started with a 2 feet myself..like what they said, u gotta match the evaporation rate with the rate your add the solution into your tank...and also watch your PH...maybe u can try dripping them at night..coz PH tends to drop at night once your lights are out...so the addition will not cause too much of an increase...might even remain at the same level as it was when the lights are on...takes some playing ard and experimenting i guess..

diatoms are part and parcel of a new tank...and even for some slighterly older tanks...just need some time for your reef to stabilize itself..and if everything is right, they should go off soon..just my personal experience, if your snails remain in the same spot on the sand bed or rocks for 2 days..u should go remove them from the water and check them out...had oone that died last time..stinked like crazy....

that's normal...don't worry...jewels are also commonly showing such inflations too..

Montipora Capricornis

hey, noticed the green star polyps near to the monti...was just wondering if u had any problem of them spreading too fast??? i've got a small piece which i boughy about 2 months back and it's starting to over-run my tank...heh...not exactly but it's already covered almost an entire peice of LR. .any remedies besides trying to remove the rock which contain them?? worried that they might sting my corals, especially the sps...i noticed that they are even creeping onto my zoos and growing onto some of the polyps...and ends up that my polpys are closed! -
really nice combi!!! looks unreal man...heh
-
unique fishes u have in there..how about keeping some barramundi( kim back loh) and mackeral to go along??? will do very well on the frying pan too...haha
-
i use to have a 2 feet nano also...was using a canister...saw a drop in nitrate after emoving all the filter media inside ...left only the activated carbon in the cannister..

Is 3xt5 (39w) Enough For Sps & Clam?
Mellow replied to panlee's topic in SPS and Advanced Reefkeepers Forum
that's alot of wattage for your tank size... really hard core!!! haha... my parents will scream with 800w... making alot of noise with my 250w already... -
nice aquascaping too....can't wait to see it complete ready with all the sps....drool. all the best for your tank

Is 3xt5 (39w) Enough For Sps & Clam?
Mellow replied to panlee's topic in SPS and Advanced Reefkeepers Forum
i'm using 250w MH for my 3 feet...managed to keep temp between 26-28 with my fan....i suppose my air con helps also..heh... -
totally agree with panlee...it's better to avoid too much mechanical filtration in a sump...it will only end up as a nitrate factory....i personally feel bio filtration is the best....add in tonnes of live rock and DSB....and with efficient skimming, it will be just fine...always get a skimmer AT LEAST twice the tank size... for example, if your tank's 50g, get a skimmer that is used for a 100g tank or even more...u can never overskim a tank...

oh, by the way coralreef, nice polyp extension of your acro!!!

hello..just my 0.02.... I think there's sometimes over emphasis on the lighting requirement of sps that we forget that there are other aspects that are just as important.. i'm not trying to say that sps doesn't require strong lighting...but u dun need a sun over your tank for it to have nice colours and for it to survive...i've seen many tanks which has beautiful sps even though the lighting is just 150w...sometimes, it might also be some luck to retain colours... back to your question, i think it is very possible to keep sps with 150w in your 3 feet...just make sure they are high up and directly under the lights...with the other parameters being optimal.... i've seen people keeping them in such lighting and manage to retain those blue acros and even show remarkable growth.... all the best...

hi, i've seen these a couple of times at one of the display tank at pasir ris farms. seems to me they're belong to the sps family....any comments by others??? it's luminous under actinic right??? nice coral that is
-
just to add...anemones move around alot too..so they might just go on a rampage and kill your sps...not a recommendation.... oh, i'm a student too!!! understand your woes..got my 250w almost a year ago...save up i guess...for the love of the hobby.. but i got it 2nd hand from a close friend....was a steal

simply breath taking..... love the aquascaping..especially the gap...makes it look really natural...and i think the monti caps on the left side fit in so well...so natural...
