i think there's a common misconception that only hard corals bleach but soft corals like leather and ricordeas bleach too... I've had a piece of red ricordea covered by a rock and it's now transparent....

Hi, U guys have any experience in aquamedi and sera dKH testkits? My dKH is still very low despite constant additions of reef builder. I thought my test kit got problem as the AZOO one showed a low 7dKH. Then there's this helpful soul who came to my house to help me test with his salifert testkit which showed 10.2. I thought AZOO might really be faulty. But then i tried 2 other brands aquamedi and sera dKH testkit which also showed 7dKH. Was just wondering how reliable all of them are because salifert is supposed to be the leading brand but somehow, it's results are contrary to 3 other brands. Somemore heard from the boss at SL that salifert products tend to "expire and the reagents evaporated" by the time they reached singapore....so which is really a good brand of dKH testkits? any recommendations from the sps gurus especially?

have u read up on their requirements? Not a coral to keep for most reefs as these corals require low and indirect lighting. and it requires regular feedings as they're predatory corals...erm, u can try gluing upside down in a cave or something coz that's how they're normally found in the wild...i used to have one when i first started...it also never remain upright and shrivelled alot....after a while, it disintegrated and wasted away....i would recommend the blue pill for other things that doesn't stand though..haha

yah man...if i had not seen their trademark quote, i might still consider trying chemipure... but after hearing that "no water changes for 5 years, or forever" , i really have doubts abt the product...too good to be true

yah, the leather looks bleached more like anything else...wah, $40 for a piece of leather is a rip off man. i would suggest not going to the lfs anymore... can share which one izzit too. at least we'll know the baddies around. haha

as long as it's in a high flowing area, that should be the place to put your carbon in...yup, i kindda like seachem's carbon too....

Hi, Just my 2 cents worth..i think u will need some time(years maybe) to actually see the effects of a good and a lower grade salt. It's more of a long term result that u'll see by using higher quality salts...so if we change to a new brand of salt after we finish an old one, doubt u'll see much difference....

heard the Ca content in coral life very high. this guy apparently had 520ppm Ca without any Ca additives....

clementi sells IO..can go look there...they have the small boxes and those large bags kind... hey roidan, i think coral life seemed to draw some not that good reviews apparently...

Hi people, As promised, I'm selling away my star polyps which are growing too fast. As usual, I've got no DC, so will try to give a desciption to my best ability. 1) Couple of live rocks for sell. I've got no idea how much they all weigh, but they are small to medium sized. Around 300-600g a piece(estimation). Got a few pieces to sell, mostly flat pieces and one branch kind. To make it easy, i'll just sell them at $5 a piece. 2) 1 flat piece of green star polyp the size of a palm(without fingers) $5 3) 1 piece of LR around 300g totally covered on the top by green star polyps and a piece of green ricordea attached to it. $12 4) 1 piece of LR around 600g partially covered (about 1/5) covered with green star polyps) $8 5) 1 small colony of zoos (outer brown and inner circle is orange. looks green to me under actinics) The extension is really good but i'm selling it because some of the stems on the zoos are covered by the star polyps. can't stand the sight of star polyps now. (FREE for first customer)

and by the way, i just found out that some test kits measure german dKH while some measure english dKH and some american dKH... what's the standard that we always use when we talk abt dKH? the german, english or american kind? cause i'm adding to my suspect list that AZOO's dKH test may not be measuring the 'normal' dKH... just did some water change...dKH at 6 man...
