Hi fellow reefers, I've got a set of salifert's flatworm exit and Red slime remover for sale. Used both products only once to very good effect and not much use for it now. Used only 50 drops of the 300 available drops for the flatworm exit and used only 3 spoonfuls of the red slime remover only. Selling the flatworm exit at $15 and the red slime remover at $20. Bought them at $24 and $28 respectively... Those interested please pm me....

of course if u ask me, i'll go with the natural food source right from the bottom of the food chain...phyto. but I thought your 90% water description of marine snow isnt too fair to the product. tell me about it. Doesn't the phytos we use also consist a significant amount of water too? heh...I dun think those phytos are 100% usable....

erm..but even our body is 70% water...of course marine snow has to consist a considerable amount of water for it to be in that fluid form right? otherwise, it will probably end up jelly-like...just my thoughts

hi andysho, as lighteningstrike said, MH is the way to go if u wanna keep sps. of course, I think we should alos cover other aspects of sps keeping besides having good lights, though this is also important. Rather than u get t5s and upgrade in future which will waste more money, might as well get MH once and for all? I've been running 250 DE MH for the past year on my 3 feet tank without a chiller. Only using cooling fan and managed to maintain my temperature at 27 most of the time and at most 28 degrees. But my air con does help a fair bit when i turn on at night. Hope that helps....

just to add on, I think what Tanzy suggested is more important coz when clam grows, the byssal gland will tend to grow upwards. So by placing it as Tanzy has suggested(the byssal gland at the lowest), it will facilitate the growth upwards rather than putting it the other way round and causing the byssal to get detached and stressed.

hmm...i've never tasted the dkh of corallife saltmix before but I did notice a considerably lower dkh when I was using this brand of salt. Was always hoovering around 7 dkh after adding tonnes of reef builder. Now, the dkh is climbing up to 10 plus again after changing my salt mix

Hi, Recently bought a set of pl lights. Originally intended for refugium but it kindda gets quite hot. Dont think it is E ballast. And since I dun have a chiller, gotta let it go. Used only for 2 days. The length of the set is abt 14 inches and width is about 6 inches and it comes with 2 X 11w pl tubes. Bought it at $38. Willing to let go at $30. Please pm me if interested.

yup, high calcium and dkh will help. maintaining calcium levels of at least 400 will be good. not forgetting good water parameters. U can also try keeping the actinics on for a longer period of time. Do notice significant growths last time....and lastly, u can try combi san!

Fine bubbles appearing from return
Mellow replied to scarab's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
had the same problem as u before also. Could it be from your skimmer that is emitting the fine bubbles? As AT said, this problem can be reduced through the use of baffles in your sump. Another possibility is that the bubbles are caused by the rushing of water down from the overflow chamber to your sump (which was my case). In that case, u can try to put a glass vase/container in the particular chamber directly underneath the pipe where the water drains from the main display tank to the sump. The vase has to be higher than the water level in that chamber and this will help channel a fair bit of bubbles to the surface before going into the sump. Acts like a baffle basically.... -
I've used DE BLV 250w for almost a year...so far pretty pleased with it... but u gotta have a uv glass definitely. Very important coz if not, your livestock will not be able to take the UV radiation! So far, the other person I know using 250 DE is Hon...just got my new bulbs from him...
