  1. More pics coming! A good friend of mine!
  2. Reb***: -Lots of 2-3 inches yellow tangs -Different types of damsels -Anthias...dun ask me which kind coz i'm lusy with fish identity -Very little corals Octo*** B**: -6-7 very nice cup corals. There's one huge one which has a very very unique shape. Seems like there are 3 cup corals fused together into one big piece. -4 maroon/green open brain...nice! -2 elegance. 1 pink tip and 1 blue tip if i remember correctly -Some bubbles and abit of other lps -Quite abit of clams - 2 pocillopora. One is injured while the other is nice! looks bluish to me!! Abt 4-5 inch diameter. Attractive price too
  3. drool!!! Very nice growth u've got!!! And the colours are so good!! More pics for the sake of all other reefers including myself...satisfy our cravings for good looking tanks!
  4. I love the congested look. Just like it when corals are all cramped up and somehow, it gives a fuller look! By the way, I saw your tank pics posted in RC. I must say u are really doing us Singaporeans proud man!! Hey RYZ, I got the zoos from ricordia too. Really worth it. U can try asking him. He might still have them..though it took some time to colour up more.
  5. Hey linkinpark, Finally got down to test the difference in dkh before and after addition. My dkh jumped from 7.8 to 12.1 over a 16hrs period as I dripped the reef builder. Seems too big a jump! Will follow your advice and spread the addition of reef builder over 2 days instead. Hopefully will lower the shock. Thanks anyway
  6. Totally agree with robe...Even the macdonalds in the US are paying($15/hr) much more than what some fresh grads can earn man. I feel it's unfair to just put the blame on the so called "typical Singaporean thinking" for the lack of ultra nice corals coming in due to their unwillingness to pay. Besides, I feel that our local lfs are already bringing in brilliant corals from time to time. Cheers to them! Not forgetting that most of the reefers here are working adults with families and children. Asking them to fork out that much money for corals will be pretty hard. That's hard earned money man and of course, they have to be careful with their expenditure. No more hand coming out to ask for money from parents in any sorts. My 2 cents!
  7. Yup, have to agree... Using the urchin (in-sump version) for some time! 100% hassle free and literally plug-&-play. Really good piece of equipment for those with 3ft tank or smaller...
  8. Really really beautiful tank and corals u have man!!! Envy.... Simply love the button brains u have.... The colours seems like they are popping out!!! haha... Not forgetting that variety of acros u now have in your tank....Sweet!!! Hey DB bro, if u ever frag the birdnest, please do spare me a frag or two also...heh...
  9. Wah...your tank seems to have changed quite a fair bit! From the previously sps dominated to clams dominated to the current mix of corals. Must say the anemone really added much more colour to your tank...nice carpet! But having heard so much abt u and your friend always being early buy the nicest stuffs, thought it will be much more colourful than I expected...
  10. Lovely pink plate u've got there! Really like your tank man...From the balcony that your tank sits on to the overall design of your tank and cabinet!...not forgetting that huge tank u've got!!! My dream... Keep it up and really looking forward to seeing it filled with the candy sticks! hehe...all the best!
  11. Hi linkinpark! Yah, that kindda worries me at times too. About dosing so much reef builder in just one day. Thankfully there isn't any "snow storm" at the moment after dosing. That's why I'm trying to drip down slowly over one whole day. Hopefully the fluctuation will decrease. Maybe I will try measuring the dkh just before new dosage and straight after dosage again to see the difference. Haven't really considered much about fluctuations of dkh until u brought it up actually. heh. I guess I was more concerned abt bringing it up to the correct levels then. Thanks for the reminder bro! Will post the difference of dkh values by tues!
  12. haha...no plans for bigger tank so soon. Maybe I'll upgrade only when I'm married and get my own house? heh...build it into the wall... But for now, a 3 feet is enuff lah. But maybe by then, I'll be facing the same problem some reefers face... nagging from wife! haha...gotta find one like linkinpark's wife..also keep marine tank! hey DB bro, your tank's up and keeping also what...in fact, I like yours more than mine! teeming with fishes and all the sps! droolz... Mine got only 3 fishes. So boring! Oh, spare me a birdnest frag if u ever gonna frag them!! Been looking for one for long...
  13. Your tank shud be featured as the extreme make-over tank! Really money well spent!!! The cabinet and new rock structure etc looks really good! I'm like u too! I will prefer a smaller tank with good equipments (not that i have alot though ) and make sure maintenance wise wouldnt be that much of a hassle...and true...price increases exponentially with tank size! heh... Keep it up...and more pics plz...
  14. Thanks for all the comments!!! Please feel free to tell me other areas which u feel i can improve on too yah? Actually, i'm thinking of doing some major rock shifting on the right of my tank...seems like i'm under utilizing the tank space now Been trying to pair up my existing false percula with another smaller one.. keeping my fingers crossed! At least no fighting involved as the moment and they're like swimming together now. Was wondering if the absence of anemones will deter the pairing? Any comments?
  15. Yah man...it is still kindda shocking to me for needing so much carbonates. I've been doing trial and error over the past couple of months before deriving at this 15tps...and this finally helps maintain dkh of at least 10 yup fuel, i was at first skeptical about dosing way above the daily recommended dosage...but seems like the only way to maintain dkh. I'll try and drip it slowly over the day though. Hopefully won't be too shocking for corals. But I believe what the instructions meant was NOT to raise alkalinity of your tank water by more than 1meq/l each time.... but mine is purely to maintain it. So maybe ok lah
  16. Yah loh. Still student lah...so no $$$ to buy so many things. Only investment was a AquaC Urchin... Without calcium reactor, gotta be super dilligent...everyday add calcium and carbonates...and at night drip kalkwasser...tiring but used to it liaoz My next piece of equipment will prob be a CR...will need alot of guidance then... But so far the sps seems pretty happy and having good growth. So will prob stick to this routine till ... when i get a bigger tank? heheh.... Current dosing regime...first day : 10 tps: seachem reefadvantage calcium second day :15 tps seachem reef builer (carbonates) third day : purely kalkwasser everynight: kalkwasser Repeat same thing after that....
  17. Hey, Thanks for such encouraging comments. Regarding coralline algae, I just have to maintain high calcium and alkalinity levels for them to grow. They use up calcium like crazy man...even my sump is totally covered now... I think good water quality does help in a way too... if u ever need some to seed your tank, can pm me!
  18. Anyway, thanks for all the kind comments. Still thinking of ways to improve..and definitely, so much more to learn man...Up to now, I still dunno how to use a calcium reactor. hehe. All manual dosing! Will try to take more pics of other inhabitants and post it soon!
  19. Hi nutx, Honestly, I'm not too sure also. For mine, I feel the lighting played a pretty significant part in determining it's shape. Coz i only have a single MH in the centre...so the new layers are tilted at certain angle directly towards the light... But i believe somehow, current will also play a part... Anticipating the next headache...monti cap now almost touching the glass... wondering if it will ever encrust over the glass? hehe...
  20. some of the lps....didn't get a chance to post it last time
  21. left of the pic is my newly acquired tri-colour acro...sadly, that was to replace my green humilis which i had for more than half a year...suffered from stn....
  22. newly acquired lobo..but flesh seems to be receding over the last 2 days...not too sure...Any experts can help? Water parameters are ok...Was wondering if it is under too much lights...coz i shifted it near to the surface lately...
  23. Another pic of the same coral taken in feb...
  24. Same coral pic taken again on May...
