  1. Hi jxlex, thanks for your advise. I had a look at the Ecoxotic Cannon LEDs. It looks great but . . . I will not be able to fit both over my small tank, one will be enough already. However, to get a kind of colour I want, I suspect I will need both. Actually I was considering something like the cannon, but with a good mix of colour in a single package. The the Kessil A350 seems to fit the package but I don't think it is available in Singapore. http://reefbuilders.com/2013/02/01/kessil-a350-wins-led-showdown/ Does anyone know if it is available?
  2. Dear all, I have a 1.5 feet cube tank with mainly LPS currently on Maxspect G2 60W with Ecoxotic Panarama Pro Modules. My Maxspect is begining to show problems and it is time to start looking for a new light set. I'm currently looking at Radion Pro, however, I'm not sure when it will reach our shores and I do have a problem mounting it. Any other recommendations on a suitable LED light set? I am looking for something that can bring out the colours in the corals and make the colour come "POP"! Appreciate all your advise!
  3. Hi, I got mine from Reefsystems. Stunner is not to be used as main lights, more for colouration. Pro modules is ok for 1 ft, but you will need more than 1.
  4. Hi all, the new C3.5 has broken in and working great. Anyone wants my old NAC3.5 for free? I dropped the collection cup and cracked it. I superglued it back and it no longer leaks. The body is in dire need of a good scrub but otherwise, it is in perfect working condition. Any takers?
  5. Hi Admiraltian, yup, it's a C3.5. Hi Jameshong, with my limited experience of having the C3.5 for less than 24 hours, I will say no, not advisable. The output from the SP1000 looks much stronger compared the the atman pump with the density of air in the skimmer body looking much densier. The skimmer neck is wider and the skimmer body is also bigger probably to make use of the increase volume of air drawn in (my guess). In short, I think you can fit SP1000 into NAC3.5, but question is whether that is the smart thing to do?
  6. Finally collected my new toy from Dr Evil today! This is to replace my old but trusty Bubble Magus NAC 3.5. I was surfing the web 2 months back and chance upon a different modle of skimmer from Bubble Magus which is just a tiny bit bigger, uses the same wattage but draws300 litre air per hour, 100 litre more air compared to the old atman pump. It is not a whole lot more expensive, so why not? It came in the usual packaging. The plastic seems to be of better build quality, the cone is seamless and the skimmer can be broken apart into more pieces for cleaning. This is the Rock Pump SP1000. Instead of saying how many litres of water it moves, it states how many litres of air it draws. This is a quick visual comparison of the two skimmer. Just that tiny bit bigger. Its a very tight fit into the sump tank but it'll work! Time to break in the skimmer!
  7. Hi ReefzLover, to my understanding, the key difference is the wattage. The stunner is around 6 watts for 12 inc if I am not mistaken? Pro Version is bulkier and it is 39 watts for 12 inch.
  8. Yup, I was surprised too. I suspect it could be the red spectrum which was what the algae needed coupled with nutrients in the water. After about one month, the algae slowly faded away, perhaps the nutrients were finally "exhausted"? Many possible reasons, just my personal observation for my tank.
  9. Forgot to add, I am using the Panarama Pro version, also magenta with blue, the colour really pops! You can take a look at my tank pics.
  10. I'm using it too, I love the colour, but I had an issue with algae growth initially when I started using the pro.
  11. No FR, just protein skimmer and chaeto.
  12. Hi Steve, MP10 is quite alright for the tank, in fact, I was toying with the idea of putting another one in to help stir things up.
  13. So far, the new Philips PAr 30 seems to be performing very well. Chaeto doubles in size in 3 days instead of 1 week when using the older 6000k bulb!
  14. The Philips PAR30? I got it from Homefix. I'm sure there are cheaper sources, I was too lazy to look around.
  15. Update: I was using a 7 LED 7 Watt 6000k light to grow chaeto in my refugium (see my earlier post). It was a hit and miss for growing chaeto in my personal experience. The chaeto can grow well for a month or so but it will suddenly crash. I was reading SantaMonica's post about using lower kelvin for his algae scrubber, around the region of 2700 - 3100k. I figure, if it can grow algae well in the algae scrubber, it should be able to grow chaeto well right? So I looked around and chance upon this. It's a Philips 2700K 12w PAR 30 LED. This is definitely way more yellow compared to my previous light which was white to my naked eye. I've been using this for a few weeks and based on gut feeling, the chaeto seems to be growing faster but I cannot be totally sure. Let's see if my chaeto will crash in a few more weeks. Cheers!
  16. Thanks SantaMonica, I'm assuming you are answering my earlier question on growing macro algae like chaeto. I will get a 2700k PAR30 LED for my refugium and see how does my chaeto do. Thanks!
  17. Thank you all for your kind compliments. I managed to take a few FTS shots today to show the progress and the effects of the lights with Maxspect G2 60W and the Panaroma Pro Modules combined. Cheers!
  18. I've also decided to up the amount of light. Saw the panrama pro led modules and decided to get a blue and red combo. The colours of the corals does seem to pop! and here it is mounted on the tank.
  19. Decided to update since it's been awhile. My 12 year old maroon clown pair is still spawning as usual. This is a photo of their eggs. Sadly, I've never seen them hatch.
  20. Hi SantaMonica, just wondering, most forum threads like http://www.melevsreef.com/fuge_bulb.html recommend the use of 5100k colour temp to grow macro algae in refugium while you recommend the use of 2700k or 3100k colour temp for the algae scrubbers. Is it because we are trying to grow different types of algae here? Thanks!
