dun worry lar... my new tank has been cycling for 3 weeks too and the ammonia is still not zero... dunno if there is sth wrong wif my test kits... juz be patient lor...

juz feed ur fishes a mixture of everything... shld do em good...

i use activated carbon as part of my filter media......... note that u haf to change the carbon frequently... if not... bad substance would be release back into ur water... juz 2 cents

a sump would be the best filter... buden... u can use a canister as well... cheaper solution... but note that canister produce lotsa nitrates... a frequent water change would reduce high nitrate level.. there are also lots products in LFS that claimed to remove/reduce nitrates... i didnt try those... so i can't comment.

those kind of bags are too big for carbon. they get slipped thru easily???

IMO feed a mixture wld be better... too much nutrition is not very good... tat applies to humans as well...
