  1. Hi guys, I have accidentally overdosed calcium supplement in my tank...think it shot up to at least 800. Very stupid of me, was using API testkit (trying to save some cost and perhaps i bought an expired testkit as there was no expired date on the box) and felt something is wrong when i see some negative reaction of my LPS after a few days. It's when I change to Salifret testkit that I got a shock that I've grossly overdosed. Besides water changes, which i have tried but failed as our salt also comes with high calcium content, any has there any other ideas to bring down the calcium level at a faster pace without water changes? Prob the last resort would be to change the entire tank water with NSW. Thanks.
  2. Don't know why Patrick quoted me $7 each and minimum 5 bottles. Double pricing! I just got my second replacement of 3 bottles from Pere Ocean on Saturday. Am happy with their service and gonna stick to them since they do delivery on weekends too and i can just take 3 bottles.
  3. It's those 5 gallon type, usually blue in color, commonly seen in polyclinics and offices. Just that you do not need the dispenser stand. There's no handle per se as i just carry the whole bottle to top up my tank. You can keep it for later use, just a tap or cup or any object to cover the opening will do.
  4. Pls don't add fish to cycle your tank, no matter how hardy it is. This is irresponsible to do for any reefer. A market prawn will do as fine to kick start the ANN cycle. Pls read more on setting new tank thread here.
  5. Selling 3-4 inches purple tang for $65. With me for a year plus, nice coloration, very healthy & eating pellets. Collection at HOUGANG central. Pls PM yr interest, thanks.
  6. Bro, normal suns are just as nice, especially when the whole rock is fully opened and extended. From your first pic, yours should open up twice that size. Super sun is bigger per polyp and but it's super costly and much smaller too relative to normal suns. Personally, i'm not sure why the craze over super suns. And before you venture more of them, think long-term if you are willing to feed individual heads on a regular basis. If you think you are those '5 mins warm' type and too busy to do constant target feeding, then better think twice of buying more. Happy reefing.
  7. Just came back from aquamarin, got Hawaii shipment. YT, potter angels, flame wrasse, barlett 3 for 100, kole, goldflake 5 blue notes.
  8. It is very nice of him to do that, sadly, it is unlikely to survive as the water within the barrage is changing into freshwater, unless it's released opposite the barrage where the seawater is. I understand that many marine creatures and organisms are slowly dying off.
  9. Mine chewed away my tubeworms' rubbery tubes.
  10. Flame tang? I presume it's flame angel. From my experience and what I've gathered from other reefers, it's difficult to keep flame angels healthy or long if they are not given cooler water environment. In fact, i think most fishes wld not like living in water above 30 degrees, they may not die but that doesn't mean they are growing well.
  11. Great job in releasing back into the sea, who knows, it could be the remaining few alive in the wild that is much needed to populate it's kind. Too much have been taken out of the ocean already.
  12. Yah, price indeed went up when I called Patrick. It's $7 and need to take 5 bottles. So i took from Pere Ocean (Wilson), same price but can take 3 bottles without contract and no need monthly order. The bottles arrived today, quite happy so far, bottle stated they received Singapore superbrand award wor.  So with regard to Arees, I strongly advised reefers to consider other suppliers.
  13. Wow, 3-4 is nearly half price of arees. This is good deal everyone! Worth exploring!
  14. I just checked with Arees and they insisted that I must take at least 3 bottles every month (at least 4 initially) and must sign a one-year contract that cannot be terminated prematurely. Decided to call up another distilled water company and it's offering the same price as Arees for their 5 gallon, but WITHOUT the need to sign any contract and no need to order every month. I can just order anytime when i need. I think it is a much better deal no matter how you compare with Arees. But as i've just ordered with them, I must qualify here that I cannot comment on their delivery service yet. Only sending to my place this Saturday. Those keen to explore alternative can always call Wilson at 9068 0835, or wilson@pereocean.com to discuss. He's the salesperson from Pere Ocean, friendly guy.
  15. Hmmm...maybe it's your oyster feast and regular water change that keep them alive. Still surprised you can keep these corals so long without chiller and skimmer in our type of weather. But there is a difference between surviving and growing. Hope yours are doing well. All the best! Cheers.
  16. I'm surprised to see gonio as easy. Are you sure? How long have you kept those corals to classify them as easy and cannot die?
  17. The almost fully white clowns look like some science experiment went wrong...not very nice to me. Just not natural at all. Of course, just my personal opinion, some will find them gorgeous. Just came out of T95, fish shipment just came in but limited species. Many M-L yellow belly regal angel, one nice blue face, nice emperor, some pbt, naso. Quite of lot of good size photosynthetic sea fans, leathers, bubbles, octo. Price definitely cheaper than many other LFS.
  18. Can try to call Andy Tiew at 9146 5383. I bought my hailea chiller from him and he does repairs for other brands too. Nice and honest guy.
  19. OMG! My main tank's IOS near return pipe area is starting to leak...slowly but surely.

Tks guys. Applied half a tube silicon, still leak. Sian 2x. Gonna try the extreme...super glue! If still leaks...oh shit is what i can say! Got to drain IOS tank and redo the piping.

I use bondite epoxy putty to seal the leaks from my pipe. Cure much faster than silicon. But recommend u drain ur IOS tank first and allow 3 to 4 hrs for it to cure sufficiently.

  20. Have you added new fishes couple of days ago? If so, then could be spread of diseases or harmful bacteria.
  21. Mine is 4 2 2. Also using hailea 500. Takes about 2 hrs to cool down 1.5 degrees (which i thought is a bit too long) and rest for 4-5 hours before kicking in again. I'm using an external temp controller so temp measure in the main tank shd be quite accurate. Using a dedicated 3000 litre/hr pump.
  22. Poisoning? Boxfishes, cucumber, sea apple, anemone? Your ammonia test kit expired already?
  23. i agree drop in is the choice if possible. So much faster and without those irritating heat in the living room. But, touch wood, what if it's not upgrade but a decomm later? The compressor and all the pipings ard in the house how? Got to hack out and repatch & repaint the walls wor.
  24. i would say, T95 at jln kayu.
