  1. Yup, very kind of you bro to compensate back the money...l think it's possible that a fish that feeds in one tank will not feed when placed in another tank. IMO, it cld be due to transportation, water parameters, existing resident fishes, acclimatisation, luck etc. l encountered such incident on one fish before. Upz for a nice guy who travel from place to place to deliver by mrt and bus..."Siong"!!
  2. A nice guy selling great stuff and the best is x-factor comes in small cubes and got free delivery somemore. Save me time and hassle of preparing my own frozen food also. Have bought a box from him to try out and saw all my fishes went crazy over the food. Two thumbs up!!
  3. l also got this no. saved in my hp but i have not used them before. Maybe you can also check with them...Vynn at 91070604
  4. i see an air-stone running at the back of yr tank. It may increase water splashes at the top, salt residue and water evaporation...maybe u dun need that as i think yr return pump and skimmer wld have given yr tank sufficient water movement and oxygen. Just a suggestion. Like yr PBT..nice!
  5. Wow, didn't know there's such a service/device. Thanks bro Rogerttt for bringing up this idea. Think it's the worry of many reefers. At least for me, it will definitely take away lots of my worries abt sudden power failure at home while l'm away at work or worse..going on a long holiday, cos all efforts, previous lifestock and $$$ will be gone once there's a power failure . Hmm, besides ADT which i'm gonna check further, anyone has other experience or method to share?
  6. Are yr other tangs taking the lettuce? For me, all my tangs will ignore the fresh lettuce if i didn't freeze it in the freezer. They seem to crave for thawed lettuce from the freezer...maybe more like seaweed in the ocean i guess. And definitely agreed with you that special care and consideration is needed for rare species which are very few in the ocean. In fact, it also goes for all fishes tt if one is not confident at all to keep a certain fish species, best not to purchase it in the first place and ruin its opportunity to live better in another more experienced reefer's tank.
  7. It may not be the temp problem. Other water parameters also play a major role. Yr tank fully cycled already as it seems fairly new to me? As long as they're feeding well and active, i think the hermits are fine whether they're at the top or bottom. As for cooling capability by fan, it all depends on how big is yr fan, placement of yr fan, duration you turn on the fan, and the size of yr tank etc. Oh yes, i agree with bro thexder that some digital thermometers can be fairly inaccurate too.
  8. Having a chiller has many advantages. BUT it's NOT a must to have chiller to keep fishes and corals. l'm sure many of us here do not use chillers at all. A fan will do just fine, the main thing to manage is evaporation rate which is higher and require frequent water top up. It really depends on yr budget and whether you are having a reef tank or FOWLR; equipment use such as pumps & lightings; the ambient temp; placement of yr tank etc. l dun have a chiller but my fishes, inverts and corals are doing ok for over a year now. For me, my fan will be on when the lights are on. My tank temp is ard 29-30 on average.
  9. Interesting. Wat's tt? Looks like a special type of mushie...
  10. CF says it's ok to have 5 black tip sharks in a 84' tank?? What kind of advice CF is giving? Btw, l always believe tt sharks, being endangered to extinction soon, are better left in the ocean to be admired, not in home tanks or worse, in restuarants to be served as shark fins soup .
  11. PM you on behalf of Bro Gash already.
  12. Seems like ATI Power Modul is the one to go for. Thanks to all bros for the recommendation.
  13. My 2 sets of Jebo quad T5 HO lighting sets (a 2ft and a 4ft) failed me just within 6 mths usage. Ballast spolit. Sian... Now intend to buy a more reliable and durable brand. Can anyone here share/recommend yr favourite brand?
  14. Think it's time for me to change my Sunon fan to a new one after hearing Bro Noob experience. Scary! It has been very effective to bring down my tank temp by 1-2 degrees and i only on it when the lights are on. l kept both LPS and softies and all doing ok. But evaporation is like
  15. You may also want to check the water parameters in yr QT first. l'm not an expert but l'll always find it a must to acclimatise newly purchased fish by slowly adding main tank water bit by bit at diff time intervals into the LFS water in a seperate container. Once done, l'll add only the fish into the tank. Adding yr fish into the tank without this step may shock the fish 'cos of sudden change in pH, alkalinity, temp etc due to difference in water parameters. To reduce yr risk of seeing fishes dying, l wld suggest buying yr flame angel from reputable LFS tt is already feeding in its tank which is prob more stable. Some LFS will not mind feeding for you to see b4 you purchase.
  16. Manage to find a pic of the goby - FOC (Courtesy of www.liveaquaria.com)

  18. Not really a commercial post IMO lah. It's just like one sis here selling home made brownies or cookies...nothing wrong actually, or reefers selling home grown chaeto or sps frags.
  19. Regardless of mollies or damsels, imagine we ourselves are being thrown into an enclosure of lions to be live fed...how wld we feel?? Anyway, to get back to topic, l saw prob over a hundred of small to large blue tangs at Reborn, many non-reef safe wrasse species, mini size orange shoulder tangs and PBTs last friday.
  20. After yr MI get use and established itself to the new environment, and hopefully feeding, you may release back yr PBT in yr main tank and monitor the situation. You prob kanna flame at ReefCentral 'cos MI is no easy fish to keep in captivity and most died in our tanks. That's why most reefers wld recommend not to touch this fish unless it is already stable and feeding in LFS or you know how to keep one. There are a few who managed to get this difficult fish to feed. You may want to look thru Bro Javier's tank thread for info http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...pic=54953&st=60 Wish you luck.
