  1. Opps sorry, sis Lionfish25. Yah, like bro rogerttt said, it is not uncommon for gals to like this hobby. There are many active sis here in SRC. But cos i saw you like lionfish alot, i presume tt u're a bro. Sorry... But do note tt the fins (i think) of the lionfish are venomous, just like rabbitfish. Got to handle with great care. Cheers...
  2. So bro Lionfish25, did u manage to check the SG before u poured away the tank water 'cos it will determine if yr hydrometer is faulty? A more accurate measurement of SG wld be a refractometer. You may want to borrow one to test it in yr new tank and then match it against yr current hydrometer or new hydrometer to gauge the difference, for future adjustment. Can't share info on lionfish as l'm not a fan and personally think it's quite cruel to feed it with another live marine fish. Of course, it's a personal choice and l've to respect that. Here are some sites on fish species and care for you (in case you missed out in the other thread which i also posted). http://www.marinecenter.com/fish/ http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/categ.cfm?pcatid=15 http://saltaquarium.about.com/od/fishprofi...es_Pictures.htm http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/index.php?menu=2
  3. Hi Bro l'm not a senior in reefing but i think these are some of the useful sites on fish species, pics and care level which would behelpful to you. Do take it as a general guide as some info may differ. http://www.marinecenter.com/fish/ http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/categ.cfm?pcatid=15 http://saltaquarium.about.com/od/fishprofi...es_Pictures.htm http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/index.php?menu=2 The most common yet very important word that most reefers wld advise is "Patience". For new tank setup, dun rush into adding LS, and for LS, dun rush into buying. Happy reefing...
  4. May or may not be the case, but just to share that some hydrometers can be faulty and inaccurate and somethings reading can be way off. Hence, when you thought the SG is correct, the actual SG can be too high for the fishes already... Are the fishes that perished mainly butterflies and MI?
  5. Generally IMO, as compared to other species, butterflies are more delicate and best to avoid them if you have a new set up and for beginners. Whatever new fishes you intend to buy, always better to read up more abt the species first in websites, books or seek opinions here etc before commiting. Will save you money and lives of fishes. Happy reefing
  6. Here it is. The almost full list is there. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showforum=52
  7. Reading the earlier posts will explain what Bro RX Gan selling here is perfectly alright and AT is aware. In short, he's one of the sponsors of SRC, just that it's not updated yet. So no worries bro. Ups for a nice bro with good products and excellent service.
  8. Wow Bro Chaniz, nice tangs you have. Finally got yr purple tangs yah? Eh..a rough count u have abt 10 tangs, be careful of the bioload bro as tangs do shit alot...
  9. Oh dear, after reading, i'm really guilty of some of them. Many of us share the fish list we currently have, but wonder how many of us would list down for own reference the fishes/corals we killed in this hobby. When l tried to do that, l got a shock looking at that list alone (money spent aside)...really felt shameful "killing" so many of them. They wld probably be happier in the ocean or in somebody's else tank. U may want to try to list down and some of you will be surprised. So, what i do now is: 1. Reduce no. of visits to LFS (cos always will buy something back) 2. Not buying on impulse, and read more if a species is easy/suitable to keep 3. Avoid delicate/difficult to keep fishes 4. Not over stocking 5. Buy from reputable LFS 6. Improve water quality for present fish/coral 7. Use less equipment (Use one instead of 2 - UV & Ozoniser, lesser wavemakers) 8. Reduce lighting period by an hour or two 9. Reuse plastic bags from LFS when selling/giving away LS Hope i dun get flame here...just sharing...heehee
  10. Bro U've quite a number of gems in there. Nice! But yr angels like getting lesser, more tangs now rite..?
  11. Well said. l think that's the key point here.
  12. Personal or not, we must thank these heros for warning the unaware and new reefers here since they already have the FACTS and VALIDATED by many other victims. What's wrong with that? Or keyboard heros you so call it. IMO, they are guardians in this forum . Thought you also said neg stuff abt him in the Kopitiam thread? Then it's up to individuals to decide if he want to deal with him cos the equipment will still be cheaper than a new set. The good thing is reefers will sure deal with him with caution and extra care.
  13. Hi all Clown fish currently reserved and pending collection. Will sms the next reefer in line if not collected. Thanks all for the interest to adopt. Apologies to those who i didn't manage to reply.
  14. Collect at Hougang Central. Healthy, eat pellet and no ich. p.s. Not for "pilots" or feeding to lionfish pls...
  15. And u have 3 very handsome/beautiful and healthy tangs...black, kole & powder blue. Love yr pbt the most as l never have luck with the powder series - super ich magnet.
  16. As what bro rx gan said, forget abt doctor fish. Comparing the two, go for cleaner shrimps which serves the same function unless you're very experience in keeping doctor fish. Very low survival rate for doctor fish so better not to support such sales so that LFS will reduce such imports.
  17. shld still be hiding in the LR...could be due to chasing by the resident damsel. If not, check yr floor as they're known to be good jumpers...
  18. Oh dear, not a very good sign. Looks like the dreadful velvet to me. Once my clownfish also kanna it and then it spread like wildfire to the other fishes. Better to fish it out quickly and put it in a nursing or quarantine tank. For me, l use Seachem celated copper in a seperate tank (NOT MAIN TANK) and my affected clownfish and other fishes recovered well. However, you must follow the instruction closely and also must have copper testkit as any overdose will likely to kill the fish instead. Good luck.
  19. Next door is Petmart, one of our sponsors here. What i can say is Petmart definitely sell much cheaper than its neighbour. You can always give them a call to check the prices, the staff there are friendly.
  20. Sea Serpent Starfish (Pic borrowed from www.starfish.ch)
  21. Reef Lobster (Pic borrow from www.liveaquaria.com)
  22. Reef Lobster - $3 Green Sea Starfish - $5 Collection at Hougang Central. If interested, pls PM me with your hp.
  23. l also have a green wrasse. A nice addition to my tank due to its lime green colour. A hard working fellow going round searching for small bristleworm. On one occasion, actually saw it plugging one out of the LR and shallow it But can be naughty at times and having occasion harmless quarrels with my male lyretail anthia. Other than that, it minds its own business.
  24. l wld recommend reef safe wrasse...like fairy and flasher wrasses. But you may have to remove the six line wrasse first as it is super aggressive. l only manage to add new wrasses after i removed my sixline wrasse - a fish tt i will definitely avoid adding in future...got a hard time catching it also.
