  1. My own way of saving energy but can't afford a Artica chiller --> don't set the temp overly too low. With global warming, temp rises very fast. l set my max temp to 29'C (my corals are still doing ok even at 30'C), my chiller only kicks in 2 or 3 times a day. A huge saving in energy while not sacrificing my corals.
  2. The pistol shrimp - actual color is light dull green, abt 1.5"
  3. Got a nice mated pair of boxer shrimps for sale at $15. Must be sold as a pair. The male will collect food for the female too... Optional FOC items w or w/o purchase: 1. Dull green piston shrimp - scared of its clicking sound at night 2. Horned yellow w blue spots cowfish - a centre of attraction and mainly eating pellets but too slow competing food with my tangs Collection at Hougang Central.
  4. Got these to give away. 1. Dull green piston shrimp 2. Horned yellow w blue spots cowfish - favourite food (pellets) Collection at Hougang Central.
  5. l always like the green grapes...too bad i don't have with them as they always gone into asexual reproduction. And what a nice & cute little neon goby you have.
  6. Likely to be spread by yr new PBT. The powdered series are super duper ich magnet compared to other tangs. New tanks, tanks with residents aggressive tangs or those with poor/avg water parameters shd avoid. Also, if yr tank water parameters are not ideal, the rest of the fishes will get stressed and easily attacked by those nasty ich parasites. Keeping yr water at optimal level is impt for you now and don't add anymore LS which will introduce possible new parasites and increase bioload. Garlic soaked fd and water change will help.
  7. OMG...u didn't separate them earlier ? If u wanna keep other sea stars and corals, you got to remove that non-reef safe sea star bro.
  8. Those horses must be happy under yr care. Can't imagine if they ended up in a tank owned by a reefer who is new to marine hobby. Btw, what did you add to help finish off those uneaten mysis/food? Cleaner shrimps?
  9. l don't have a good feeling too, seems like it's eating the red sea star. Especially when the top sea star is not a reef-safe specimen (correct me if i'm wrong). Better to remove them and observe any disappearing marks on the red sea star.
  10. Prob l'm the odd one out...i set at 27'c & 29'c since my corals are doing ok previously at 30'c when i've no chiller. Also 'cos of global warming now, ambience/tank temp rises pretty quickly in my tank and chiller kicks in more often --> higher electrical bills.
  11. Nice nice!! How abt some green grapes?
  12. Using tapwater and not DI water itself will not kill yr corals...yr corals are dead likely due to other water parameter factors. It is just that DI water is preferred over tapwater esp for reeftank.
  13. Looks like Singapore Angel. Not reef safe.
  14. i think he's referring to the tang (black/grey body w white tail). Look quite like a Lieutenant Tang...
  15. For me, the fastest way is to take out the whole LR where the bugger is hiding and dig it out outside the tank...sure catch. (but provided you dun have many LR stacking above it, if not, got to rescape later).
  16. Dun worry, they shd be copepods or amphipods. Beneficial to yr tank, great food for some fishes.
  17. yah, as i wld ve guessd so. every strong lightings you have. Does yr teco kick in often?
  18. Blue tangs are one of the easiest to feed unless it's baby or small specimen as they don't do well. Most cannot resist red bamboo, red grapes or other green macroalgae. Can try these too to get it start eating first and it will take pellets/frozen mysis real soon.
  19. Majority likes black. But personally, i like blue. It gives me the tranquility feel looking at the tank and resembles tt of a shallow reef. It also brightens up my whole tank and reflect lights better.
  20. Can't bear to part with current corals...so still a mini reef tank lo. Instead of tangs and angels, now i stick to tangs only. Sorry, a bit off topic here. l'll pm you bro.
  21. Good move and happy to hear tt yr wrasse has started to come out to eat. Don't rush to put the tang back yet and let the wrasse get use to the environment longer and establish his little terrority.
