Ah-lim's Budget set up & Budget gatherin
Underwater replied to Ah-lim's topic in Members Tank & Specs
Bro, what's the dimensions of yr tank...2 seio 1100...power!! l like the "mobile tupperware" DSB concept, very interesting. If one day doesn't want the DSB or need to clean it, just lift the whole plastic tub up, no mess to the entire sump. -
Bro, you going fowlr or mixed reef? Since you have gotten a very good chiller, i guess shd be mixed reef. For angels, l do know there are some softies and LPS tt they do not touch...like mushrooms, leathers, bubble, hammer, frogsprawn. But no-no for prata, brains, cynarina and other meaty corals etc. Maybe other bros here can advise as i only kept angels for a short while.

What Bro Southpaw said is very true. If your chiller pump sits with the return pump, and the output is to the sump tank regardless of which compartment, then yr chiller will kick in and out very often, wasting alot of electricity. You shd try Southpaw's suggestions of pumping into main tank, or put the chiller pump on the 2nd compartment & output at the last compartment/return pump. Or some reefers use external temp probe but i'm not sure how it is set up.

Quite surprised to hear tt from such a reputable LFS and after u ve bought so much exp stuff from them. Perhaps Steve has his own reasons for not helping... Anyway, good to put all these aside and what's more important is to enjoy reefing w yr GF. Time to add livestock liao and keep us posted yr new purchase. But go very slow in stocking though...

Punggol Pri...quite near my place...i stay near hougang mall. Yup, can go AM when your tank is cycled...

Klim 4ft Tank - Migrating from 6mm to 10mm
Underwater replied to klim's topic in Members Tank & Specs
Sorry to hear abt yr loses on the tangs...they're beautiful but less hardy as compared to other species. That green tube is abit unsightly in yr display tank leh...maybe try to conceal it or use pvc pipe (just for the last portion tt enters the water for a uniform look?) -
Ha Bro, l also just shifted to Hougang. Maybe someday we can go chiong LFS or lim kopi. Keep the set up pics coming....
-
Bro Storm, your tangs very swee...esp the sohal. The only tang tt always give me tt majestic feel. Maybe shd call it Majestic Tang...haha But don't add too many tangs bro, like me...ended up with super high nitrates which is not so good for fishes & corals. Bro Lum, pics of any new fishes?
-
The anemone looks like a very soft and comfortable bed to sleep at night...for the clownfishes...
-
l'm suspecting 2 very colorful gem-packed tanks liao after many individual corals pics... Bros Lum & Storm, how about a FTS of 2 tanks?
-
Wah rao...combined thread and mainly hokkien wordings somemore...very siong reading each post le. Can use more eng boon so tt easier to read? Btw, many nice gems you guys have.

Bro, Ha, another big tank set up to follow through... If you still can, you may want to elevate the tank slightly higher so that you can have a better view of the tank. My tank is also 1.5 by 1.5 (depth & height). But cos my cabinet is low, part of the upper view of the tank will be blocked by the light hood if i were to stand in front of my tank looking at it. Now got to bend a little everytime to get a full view.

Opps...just read my posting and found a typo error...should be "not ready for powder series", not "not really for powder series" cos of my average water parameters. Keep us posted on any new pics...any corals yet?
-
Oh dear... what's yr next plan to take that wedgetail bugger out b4 it ruins all yr SPS? And what a healthy and fat Black Tang you have...nice!
-
$6 per litre? Can share what's the coy too? l'll be switching to this too...will save me alot of time and trouble. As for yr tank, though i have no experience in this yet, i think it shd be ideal if you use 100% DI water w salt mix. But not sure abt it's effect on cycling though...
-
PBT... one of my favourites but sadly, my tank is not really for the powder series...esp when the sohal, YT and PT are around... Perhaps adding 6 YTs is a good strategy since none of it attack yr PBT. Hope yr PBT will not disturb new tangs going in...not sure if it's true but i heard tt it doesn't quite welcome other powder series tang though... Do take a pic of yr PBT and let us drool yah?
-
Hi Kenny, l have both of them in my tank and no prob so far. From what i observed, usually the clown tangs tt are sold here are smaller in size as compared to the sohal which are much bigger. Maybe i'm lucky cos my clown tang never disturb new tangs added in...it's the PT and YT tt always bully the newbies. Clown tang can be quite fussy in choosing food esp when introduced to a new tank while sohal is easier to get it feed. For me, i wld recommed introduce a pellet feeding clown tang (in the LFS) followed by Sohal. Either way, the first likely aggressor wld be yr YT. Just my 2cts.

Nice tank setup...a sleek and clean look. Love the two circular glass portholes on yr cabinet. But do remember to wipe the metal holder once in a while as those metals have black stains even though they're made of stainless steel or chrome, esp they're near a marine tank. Do make sure those elect power socket strips are securely fixed at yr hood and sump areas as they are just above the tanks. l'm worried tt they may fall off and ended up in yr tank...

Hmm...not bad, actually i think adult koran is quite attractive too.
-
Both are reef safe and i have them in my reef tank over 6 mths. However, sorry bro, already reserved by another reefer Bro axxxxxxx. Will let you know if they are not collected. Tks for yr interest.

Can't wait to see a full tank shot with all the colorful and rare wrasses
-
Wow, so many different types of colorful wrasses that i have never seen before. Nice! How do you introduce the newer ones that the older residents don't wack the newer ones?
