Yah, yr tubeworm's feathers like gone liao le...hope yr angel will give it a break... Bro, yr LR like got quite a bit of brown algae on them. Maybe you wanna get a algae blenny or turbo snails to help clean them?

Bro Arbageddon, no worries, you can always post any marine related question to seek opinions in this forum and there'll still be kind reefers ard to share their experience or comments. Some may be different though so it's good to hear from different reefers also. That's the purpose and spirit of this forum. To help each other to reduce or avoid mistakes so tt our marine friends can live happier. Anyway, the search function here is very good and you can sometimes receive many past threads/discussion on the particular topic you re looking at.

Singapore Angel...nice! Is it difficult to keep?

He seems to be targetting you. Hope the moderator can quickly ban his guy's src account.

A small 8 watt light won't contribute too much heat. As mentioned, your chiller kicks in too often cos you have set the upper and lower range too close <1 degree right. For LPS, no need that sensitive. A 2 degree range is ok. For my tank, my LPS are ok at a max of 29'c which i have set it as upper temp limit. You can set yrs at 28'c which is even better and the lowest temp at 26'c.

OMG, who is this jervis going round in attacking jervismun in many members' tank thread? Moderator alert!!

Just read Bro Earth's comment. And yah, agreed with Bro Earth that some fishes cannot take copper and too much copper will kill fishes too... l have tried on PBrT and it didn't take copper well.

Bro, he's asking a good question mah and we are all here to learn, think no need to be so hard on him le... i think he mentioned he's a FOWLR and has no inverts at the moment but worried if add copper now in the main tank, can he still add inverts & macroalgae later. i'm not sure myself too even after using rounds of carbon and multiple water change. Not sure if there'll be any copper residue in the LR, sand and tank silicon. IMO, best and wiser not to dose any copper in the main tank if one intends to keep inverts and corals later. And like Bro Kareen said, if the fish is not sick, no need to dose copper le. If sick, you can try hypo treatment in main tank since no inverts and corals, or fish out the affected fishes out from the main tank and put into a separate quarantine tank to dose copper.

The "juice" from mysis and brine cubes can be quite high in nitrates. Better not to throw in the whole cube into the tank. Use a small net to sieve out the mysis/brine upon washing or soaking. Bro, btw, you solved yr chiller setting problem? l suggest you try not to set the lowest and highest temp range too close. A 2 degrees range is ok for LPS. Less than 1 degree range will make yr chiller kicks in and out too frequently tt costs you more in electricity bills and harm yr chiller IMO.

Did the emperor bother yr zoos, clams, lobos?

topping up using ntuc distilled water
Underwater replied to chercm's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Maybe that's ok for nano or small tank. But for big tank, u gonna create lots of plastic bottles waste to the environment and not mentioning carrying those heavy stuff home from NTUC. Actually it's just a saving of 20 cents but short of 1 litre cos the big blue tub is abt 19 litres for $6 nett & free delivery wor.. -

l'm sure using di unit and filter will be cheaper in the long run. No doubt. l guess it's a matter of personal preference and convenience versus the cost. You have to pay more for the convenience lor. -
The lowest point i set is 27'c and the highest point is 29'c. It's 2 degrees range. When the tank temp rises to 29'c and registered by the chiller thermostat, the chiller will kick in. Then when the chiller chilled the tank to 27'c, the chiller will cut off. Hence, my tank temp will always be between 27'c to 29'c. Not sure abt Artica cos mine is a different chiller and cannot set temp at the decimal point level. Maybe you can set at 27.0'c and 28.0'c? But if you set less than a degree will make yr chiller kick in and cut off very very frequently. This wld harm yr chiller in the long run and escalate yr electricity bill alot. Actually i was told if you're not keeping SPS, you need not set the range so close until less than 1 degree. A 2 degree range is good enough for LPS.

topping up using ntuc distilled water
Underwater replied to chercm's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Many reefers are using bottled distilled water with no problem. Don't worry too much. The other contact in Bro MAG's thread is Lifesource, RO water, Tel: 63687909, $6 nett per 19 litres, free delivery, mon-fri only, min 3 tubs. -

Chercm, yrs a big tank. If you buy NTUC distill water, going to be quite expensive and waste a lot of plastic bottles. Since you're not using DI unit, go for those 19 litres/5 gallon type (those big blue tub water dispenser usually used in office). Just call them to deliver to yr place (min 3 tubs), no need the dispenser...abt $6 per tub, free delivery (so much cheaper than individual NTUC 1-2 litre bottle). There are a few companies' contacts in Bro MAG's tank thread. -
for the salifert nitrate testkit instruction... but I do not understand this: "press against the wall of the container" "view from the side" Can explain a little bit more.... What about the tetratest(german) testkit?

Ah-lim's Budget set up & Budget gatherin
Underwater replied to Ah-lim's topic in Members Tank & Specs
Bro, why will there be a nitrate spike during initial stage? Even if the sand is new? Sounds scary. -
Bro, if you wanna have meaty corals in yr tank like prata, cynarina etc, i suggest you better not add in the coral beauty now. l have tried twice and both ended nipping on my lobo, zoos, brains etc and i ve a hard time catching them out.
-
Bro, since they're no livestock and corals, why not just off the chiller and save the electricity? You don't need to chill yr tank now till you get the chiller thermostat repaired. Alternatively, go for external themo controller...more accurate i heard.

But will certainly be useful when somehow someday one decides to abandon the DSB concept or tank decomm. Just lift up the tubberware lor. DSB in Corallife bucket with 20 inch of sand? Wow!! Power!!
