  1. Bro, can't be 55 gallon. 4 2 2 shd be about 100gallon (UK) and 120gallon (US) or 450 litres. Try the calculator at the bottom of this website.
  2. If it's not moving, then based on the pic, i looks like a small purple mushroom frag. that came off from the LR. If so, just put it back on the LR where there is not much flow and it will soon stick itself onto the LR.
  3. In my previous setup, i used to keep 5 camel shrimps. l noticed they only came out to feed after lights are off. You may want to check if it disturb any of yr corals using a touchlight...
  4. Place a wavemaker at the bottom and blow the detritus towards one direction and then you siphon out from there?
  5. Bro Fuzz, Beautiful rockscape, corals arrangement and healthy fishes!! very nice.
  6. Bro Earth, Lovely lovely fishes!! Esp...the hard to keep rock beauty! Bro Fishtalk, Better take that koran out soon or it will start targeting the other meaty corals and clams...
  7. Obvious typo error. Don't have to be so sarcastic to a fellow reefer right? Anyway back to the topic, if you stay in the west side, can ask Henry from marinelife.
  8. Bro, i think you may have added too many fish in too short a time. Since you only started the tank over the weekend, you need time to cycle the tank. At minimum for new start up, there is a need to measure the SG, ammonia, nitrite and nitrate level. Since yr friend is a pioneer, ask help to help you test the water on these parameters... the setup is similar to freshwater but not suitable to marine. You may want to invest in more liverock, 2nd hand skimmer and maybe a canister filter since you have no sump tank. there is a member tank thread where some bros actually detailed down every step in their start up. Eg is bro jervismum and there you can learn very much from the sharing of his start up. cheers...
  9. i think bro kthc had explained it well. Simple to understand for new comers.
  10. oh i see. Aptisa (dunno how to spell to). Yup, peppermint shrimp does help. U can also try dunno what joe juice or something. For me, i just hack out the portion of the liverock where it hides as i had two only...
  11. Bro U sure peppermint shrimp eats algae? u may want to check with Bro Fuel first if its algae you want to get rid of. Prob turbo snails wld be better.
  12. Me too work near Chinatown hawker centre area. Maybe one day can meet up you guys at the shop, haha. Been to the shop once and didn;t know it sell marine stuff too. Marine fishes not alot but decent enough for a half tropical half marine LFS. l kapo ask the price of a yellow tang and was quoted $38. Not sure if this is the market px though. If the uncle allow test feed of fishes before buying, then may worth considering buying from the uncle. But their nano set up really cannot make it IMO. If no test feed allowed, then i rather go Sealife or Aqua Marin.
  13. try red grapes macroalgae and red bamboo macroalgae...shd work if the fish is healthy.
  14. Could you share with us how you manage to grow it so well that it spreads? l'm sure some of us would love seeing it growing and not going into asexual and pollute the tank.
  15. sorry, Just some thoughts....if we ban foreigners, who will be our maids, cleaners, rubbish collectors and construction workers? for the professionals, do we have all the headcounts, skills and expertise required to fill all the vacancies in MNCs? And should other countries also ban Singaporeans from working in their own countries?
  16. What are the fishes you have in mind?
  17. Wow...A big tank coming up...keep us posted. It's going to be fowlr or mixed? Btw, you may want to check whether yr resun cl650 can support yr tank of abt 700 litres. If not, it will prob take a long time to cool yr tank, considering 650 watts. Remember it supports up to 500 litres, not too sure.
  18. Nope. Cleaner wrasse feeds on certain parasites on fishes, but NOT white spots or bacteria. In fact, though there are few success cases, it is very difficult to keep them alive in marine tanks and most reefers would advise that they be left in the ocean to clean the fishes in their natural environment. Try not to support their import by buying from the fish shops. Cheers
  19. His tank almost going to be full with gems liao...look at the colors.... and i think stocking of gems for both sides of the tank can be very very siong for the pocket....
  20. Bro Fuzz What's on yr fish acquistion list...?
  21. Moderator: Maybe can help to transfer to the correct section. l have learnt from mistake. Just to share... It never goes wrong to buy pellet feeding specimen from reputable shops that have already quarantine the fish. You have to pay a bit more for those but it's all worth it. Just consider the higher risk of it dying, losing every dollar you paid and also spreading of parasites into the main tank from those newly arrived fishes without quarantine.
  22. very nice rockscape! adding angels like coral beauty, emperor and the more difficult ones like flame & rock beauty?
  23. Bro Earth, That's must be your office fowlr tank...wow, fowlr tank also so swee...making my hands itchy to re-start a marine tank... Did i see a rock beauty...is it hardy? One of my favourite angels...
  24. can try Petmart at serangoon nth, they sell most of the marine stuff, except LS. Very good price too, comparing with some shops. i think when in a mth's time when you take another FTS, we gonna be in awe of the multi-colors in the tank liao. Not getting any tangs?
  25. Wow, really look different comparing with yr ex-fowlr tank. Nice rockscape!
