Just came back from Perth, visited their AQWA. Not very impressive with the amount of collection as compare to the one in Sydney though... Here they go...

Reluctantly selling one pc longnose hawkfish at $16. Greedily eating pellets and healthy. Selling cos cannot get along with my three cleaner shrimps. Collection at Hougang Central, near Hougang MRT.

For new setup and big tank like yours, l would personally recommend NSW. Hassle free, cheaper and almost instant clear water. No need hige amount of DI water to mix with sea salt. The supplier just pump the NSW straight into your tank. But for subsequent water changes, salt sea will be good.

SeaLife at Balestier has alot, all feeding pellets. Both red and purple types.

Ya, actually i have that fear too, don't know whether the collapsed LR would break the bottom glass or not since i like to scape the big pieces on top. l got my NSW from Irwana, they usually send in a truck and pump NSW straight into the tank from a holding tank outside my unit. Hassle-free. Heehee. Do keep us posted on yr big project!

Thinking of BB? l struggle with that but in the end, succumbed to having a shallow sandbed for that natural look. You changing all the water and sandbed, then your fishes/corals how?
-
Secret mission...heehee...no lah, just gotten a 2nd hand 3.5ft tank and now in the process of cycling (even though i thrown in aragonite live sand/substrate that they claimed can add fish instantly). Not taking chances...better to let it cycle for a while. And yes, sohal will be in my list but prob limit to 1-2 tangs only due to my small tank. Going fowlr first then see how. Using Want to minimise electrical consumption - so low lighting with fan, and no chiller.
-
Recently water seem to have some ironic imbalance, thus causing some mushies nad yumas to float away and some melted. . Planning to do a major overhaul in oct. Gg to replace new sand bed and change some new live rocks and redo the scaping part. This is sure gonna be a major project. I wouldn't wanna go for the overhaul but the koran have leave me no choice. He's the main reasons for it

Bro, my condolences... l have tried sohal twice before. Both bought from Sealife. 1st piece when i saw it, i 'gan zeong' spider, bought without asking for feeding. As expected, refuse to eat and died after few days. Next pic i was mindful, esp tt sohal is not cheap. Uncle fed all the sohals and i picked one tt was most greedy tt ate all the pellets thrown in. After slow acclimatisation, added into my tank and it started eating within 1/2 hr. No other resident tangs dared to challenge him. With me for abt 6mths or so until i decomm and sold to a bro. My personal take would be best to buy from LFS that test feed pellets for you to see until you are satisfied (it's more worth it to pay a little more for a pellet feeding and stable fish). Though it doesn't guarantee 100% that the fish will sure eat when introduced into a tank (due to many other factors such as tank water parameters, acclimatisation process, resident fish aggression etc), the chances of survival (saving $$ too) are definitely higher. When i come across pellet feeding and fat sohal, will let you know (in case you still want to try one more time)...

Brown algae could be due to your new tank setup using tap water and with lights on. Since you have added corals, you can't turn off the lights now as yr corals need it. Since your tank is small, can use bottled distilled water (those ntuc brand also can) for water change and top up. Once yr ammonia and nitrite turns to zero readings, you can add cleaning crews like turbo snails to help clean up some of the algae.

Collection at Hougang Central.

l think chiller takes up the biggest part of the bill...like our home aircon. Prob don't set the chiller temperature unnecessary low when 1 to 2 degrees higher is still ok for the corals. Cut down lighting period. Avoid MH unless you really need strong light for certain corals. Hence, lesser times that the chiller kicks in.
-
For new tank setup, it is critical to measure the ammonia and nitrite levels which are toxic to fishes/shrimps/etc and should have zero readings. Next wld be nitrates . It is less likely that the cause is due to your pH (btw, you can increase yr pH thru pH buffer sold in fish shops). Like what Bro Vitec has mentioned, you have added too many fishes in too short in time, esp for new tanks. Need time for the bacteria in yr tank to multiply. As for fishes, best to purchase from those that are already quarantine and/or feeding pellets in the shops...usually more stable. You will never go wrong by reading up more info in this website on new tank setup, will save you alot of money as well as precious lives of the fishes. Cheers.

Haha, your tomini quite power, still dare to go challenge a sohal... Think red sea shipment like coming in quite frequent now leh...read somewhere ah beng got many specimens coming in. Too bad, my tank not ready...need final clearance from my CFO lo. Ya, l like the color and markings of the juvenile koran and juvenile emporer angel. You also have a very nice elegance wor...

Yes and no actually. l got mine when it is already feeding pellets at the LFS, so not much of a problem. In fact, no resident tangs dare to challenge him when 1st introduced. Sohal is aggressive by nature i believe. But sold off after i decomm. So sad. Now, if i start up again, sohal will be on my list. And glad to hear of your guai guai koran too! Yrs a nice specimen too. Keep us posted on this sohal beauty...heehee

Display your fowlr tank here!!

2nd pic (after re-scaped) is much nicer, more space for bigger fishes to swim in/out and hide, and better water circulation between LR too. Love your rockscaping! -
How about placing the frag on the LR and put it in yr sump tank first till it stick to it?
-
Oh ya, got to agree. The sump tank also takes up quite abit of water. And if near accuracy is needed, and LR is alot, then maybe got to minus some volume away because of the LR.

You've got a nice sohal...one of my favourites... Hope yrs will starting eating soon.
