  1. Don't think i would agree to his handling of fish with his bare hands...the part when he transfer the fish to the cylinder tank. The fish would probably have gotten the heat shock from that guy's palms due to his body heat. Then when the fish gets into the tank, another temp change shock. l would think a better way would be transfering the fish into a smaller pail and then pour slowly into the cylinder tank.
  2. Hi Bros, Have decided to DIY a scrubber. Need some comments/advice from you on my proposed srubber. Sorry for the poor drawings as l'm very bad at this. Should l tee-off the return pipe and the water flow to the scrubber as well as down into the sump tank (top corner right of the tank) as per pic? Or should l just channel all the return pipe water to the scrubber using "L" pipe? Will there be alot of water splashing out from the pipe that connect with the screen since it's a return pipe? As for the lights, thinking of using two 18W energy saving bulbs via chip on light holder placed at the front of the screen. As for the screen, thinking of using 2 layers of those hard plastic/fibre mesh sold in DIY shop, similar to the ones used by Bro Iceman. Any comments will be much appreciated. Thanks.
  3. That's a beautiful fish. Nice.
  4. Can try Formula Two flakes or frozen food for dwarf angels (from aqua marin) and see if it eats. Worth a try for such a nice angel.
  5. Bro Earth, He is referring to the much talkabout algae scrubber method discussed in another thread in this forum set up by SantaMonica. A good way to reduce no3 and po4. Me thinking of setting up too. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=73162
  6. l agreed that the very nice favia should be placed at the front leh....Your tank got all 3...SPS, LPS and Softies...not easy.
  7. l think the heat output could also be higher too for your resun pump. l'm using Ehiem 1262 for my 3.5 x 2 x 2 Some good pumps that you can consider: Ehiem 1262 - 3400l/h - 80w Ehiem 1264 - 4500l/h - 100w Aquabee 3000 - 3000l/h - 45w Aquabee 5000 - 5000l/h - 75w Ocean Runner 3500 - 3500l/h - 65w Ocean Runner 6500 - 6500l/h - 95w
  8. Many nice angels, make me drool liao... an emperor and blueface to complete the list? Dunno how you manage to introduce so many angels without them quarrelling...my fierce queen after a month still chase after my french...luckily no torn fins. But didn't regret clearing my zoos and leathers to accomodate the angels...they are like...well...Angels! So swee.
  9. Snails. Top up using DI water. Phos remover medium.
  10. Do check water parameters before buying new livestock cos if a healthy and hardy bi-color dottyback also died in your tank, then water parameters could be out of range. Do also check for ammonia (should be zero), temp (esp when sun is shining into your tank as you mentioned earlier) and SG too. Calcium and phosphate are not necessary and critical now. Use activated carbon or chemipure carbon to absorb any possible toxin in yr tank. For corals, do a search before buying too as some bros have mentioned, those that you bought are difficult to keep...gonio, cauliflower and clam (needs strong lights to survive). Mushrooms and leathers are less demanding, if you must keep corals.
  11. Not true lah bro. Prices in many reputable LFS are not always many times more expensive than fish farms. Even if some are more expensive, they offered much stable and quarantined fishes. Really no point buying cheap and unstable fishes and seeing them dying later. You wasted money totally. Worse, they spread diseases to the other fishes in your tank and ended up all fishes got the disease. Not worth it at all, trust me, unless you quarantine your fish. Besides Marinelife, i personally like to go Sealife at Balestier where you can feed the fishes before buying.
  12. Ya, especially the pair of mandarin fishes. Likely cos they are in their natural environment, not like ours...in a captive environment where lives depend on our hands.
  13. Beware of too much market prawns...they will foul your water easily and caused your water quality to deteriorate without good skimmers. If it is for fish, best not to feed them with these at all. Pellets and occasional frozen mysis will do. Don't overfeed the fishes too. Twice a day is enough.
  14. Yes, to me, it is indeed cruel. Not because you feed them with starfish, but the fact that the starfish is being eaten alive slowly and then die a slow death. That's cruel.
  15. l'm one of the victims. Earlier on too lasy to change the rusty hinges and by the time i want to change...too late liao. The screws teeth got worn off after using the screwdriver and can't even unscrew now.
  16. Wow, so many nice pairs...not easy to get though...l like bi-color angels alot too, but only a few reputable LFS sell pellet-trained eating ones. Like you, me also like sohal alot, kind of die die must have, so just gotten one after i had most fishes in my wishlist. Now just hope my sohal doesn't go round tasting other fishes' fins...if not, got to take him out liao
  17. Me been out of school for a long while, so gonna ask a noob question...how to get A1 or A2 for CCA huh? Must be school team player in sports is it or some exco members of a club in school?
  18. Why not you read a few more similar threads in this sub forum? You should find your answers.
  19. Ya, looks like a scorpion fish (and from the touch-me-not look) with venomous spines on the fins.
  20. Heehee, one of them describes me quite abit. If i quarantine, my wife sure know l spent money to buy a new fish. So, you can imagine while the fish kanna wacked by the existing fishes, l also kanna wacked! So, l usually buy quarantined and stable fishes from LFS and reefers. Placed them in the sump first for a week to get used to the new tank water parameters and eat until fat fat before going into the main tank for wacking sessions. So far so good!
