Mega Powerful Nitrate and Phosphate Remover - DIY!
Underwater replied to SantaMonica's topic in General Reefkeeping_
Finally, took a day off to DIY my algae shrubber and reconfigure my sump...i enjoyed it. Now got a bigger return compartment and no need to keep topping up water every 4-5 days. Pictures taken when it's about a week old...brown algae and some spots got green algae already. -

What an irritating chap. -
If buying any natural predator to get rid of the aptasia, pls find one that eats other type of prepared food as well. If not, the fish will die of hunger after completing the task for you, which is cruel.

Clowntang and powder blue tang for sale
Underwater replied to qwertman123's topic in Sell off/Pasar Malam Shop
A bro here shared this link. You said it's an online shop yourself. If you are extending to sell fishes here for profits, just to let you know that many reefers here will not condone your practice of 'buy low sell high'...and i would say 'very high' as in your earlier auction threads.... If what the bros said here about your ulterior motives are true, then l guess you may have to ask your so called 'uncle' to buy all your fishes. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...mp;#entry822441 -
Ermmm....
-
maybe test your QT water parameters...? good luck.
-
There are many discussions here on white spots/ich parasites already. Maybe you want to read through them first?
-
you said you needed advice and many bros have commented that you have stocked up too fast...yet you still add so many tangs after that... http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...mp;#entry822509 go slow go slow, bro...you have plenty of time to add livestock after yr tank stablises and fully cycled...

Irwana, cost depends on size of tank.

The fishes are taken out from the boxes, from darkness to sudden brightness, then thrown into holding tubs, then throw into tanks, dun think there is even any acclimation. Better to buy when the fishes are more settled down. Would advise to acclimatise properly at home or ideally, quarantine to prevent spread of ich/fungus. Coming up, anyone been to sealife? Got bannerfish?

INCREASE in ELECTRIC BILL by alot..
Underwater replied to legendz1987's topic in General Reefkeeping_
Going up by $150 is alot...think shd be your chiller. What wattage and did it kick in many times a day? Try this to calculate based on wattage of lights, chiller, pumps, wavemakers and their respective durations. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=80504 -
Wow, didn't know acans are so colorful. Definitely the most colorful and nicest coral species. Can't imagine when all these gems are placed together..the FTS must be damn nice.

How To Keep an Moorish idol
Underwater replied to kelvin70's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
Moorish idol is a ficky eater and ich magnet. Best to avoid. If you die die must own one, buy from a LFS that allows you to test feed them pellets. If it eats, then you stand a better chance of keeping it. No point keep buying and keep seeing them dying. -
is it legal to keep and trade hedgehog in Singapore?

Then it must be 'one man's poison' to me liao. Personally, l mean only myself, l never like prata...to me, just look unnatural in a reef tank. In documentary or photographs of natural reef, don't remember seeing a prata before.

Can't agree more with Aquastar's livestock. Sad for those fishes ended up there. Hope they improve the current condition. Back to NSW, it's really good esp if you are talking about huge quantity of water change or for tank set up. l don't get diatoms and red slime problems when l got mine from Irwana. Also cut the hassle of mixing and using vast quantity of DI water.

If you use cured liverocks, live sand and dose beneficial bac, then your cycling period is cut short. But need to ensure you check your ANN cycle is over. Ammonia (very toxic) --> Nitrite (less toxic than Ammonia) --> Nitrate. Use test kit to check, not fish to test test water hor. Your fish and shrimps could die if exposed to ammonia and high nitrite. Read some old threads on ANN here or other websites. Will help you alot as this is the fundamental knowledge to reefing. Cheers..

l'm assuming you are new to marine. If you are, there are some types of fishes (non-reef safe) that cannot be housed together with certain types of corals and invertebrates. And some species that should be totally avoided due to poor survival in captivity, feeding habits and/or aggressiveness. Corals also require more attention to water quality, lighting and feeding, as well as maintenance. Best not to start with corals if you are unfamiliar with marine hobby. Start with reef-safe fishes and when you are more experienced, then can introduce corals. More readings and researches will save you alot of money, time, stress and precious marine lives. Happy reefing!

Almost all of my fishes are from SL. Do agree that their prices are steeper but at least l don't have to worry much about fishes not eating pellets, dying a few days later or spreading diseases/parasites, and they will test feed with pellets. The way they care for every fish, even the cheap ones, speak for itself, unlike others that cramped all fishes into a small compartment or worse, never even bother to feed them.
