OMG...am sure there'll be tough ones around...hope your corals will recover quickly and leopard coming out from hiding in the sand.
-
Very chio collection of wrasses.
-
Wow bro, you have quite a bit of pumps though. But of course, you are into SPS, so there are minimum stuff you need to have. Hope all is well with your other precious fishes and corals.
-
Maybe LED but will be very costly i think. I only got a Ehiem 1262 return pump (run externally), 2 wavemakers, 3 T5s, 2 15w lamps for algae scrubber and Rio chiller pump. I think could be my temp controller which is not set too low cos i dun have SPS. I only set to kick in at 28.5 and stop at 27.3 (1.5 degrees).
-
Bro, thanks for your caution. I just bought a new external controller made by a shop and it works great so far. My chiller used to kick in every abt 3 hours, but now only abt 5 hours then kick in. Think i better monitor my set also. Sorry to hear the loss of your beloved fishes and corals. I can understand the heartpain. Hope you'll stay on strong. How about changing MH to T5, or using lesser T5 so that in case anything happens again, the temp won't go up that high? But with SPS, maybe that is difficult to do. Drop-in coil is most ideal, no noise and heat in the house also, esp during these days when weather is already so hot and humid. Just that the piping and trunking can be a headache if house is already renovated.

Acclimatization is really important for the fish to prevent unnecessary shock and stress which will lead to weaker immune system and more prone to diseases and parasites attacks like ich/white spots. Not to mention further attacks from resident fishes. Best to acclimatise properly and introduce the fish at night when lights are off. For me, after floating the bag in the sump for half an hour, i will use the dripping method until main tank is 100% more than the bad water, add Seachem ParaGuard for an hour dip to get rid of parasites and external fungus or bacteria. As i do not have a betta box, sometimes i release certain fishes into my sump tank first to train to feed or observe for diseases/parasites, and also let it settle down for a couple of days with the new water parameters before letting it into the main tank.
-
Very nice fishes...but the tank --> Prison or like a world war concentration camp.

direct chiller water to tank better or to sump?
Underwater replied to tagie_tag's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Tks for the info, hmm...i didn't think of that when one pump fails, the other can still circulate the water between tank and sump and also prevent flooding. Good one. -

HELP!!! Did I just buy a KILLER BLENNY???
Underwater replied to michaeltanyk's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
It's midas from maldives shipment. Why would you want to get him out, i would remove the damsel instead, lol. Likely the damsel trying to bully it since it's a new comer and Midas is defending itself. I got the midas too, it's living peacefully with all my fishes, big and small. -

Our friendly AquaMarin shop - As of yesterday maldives and existing LS tt i can remember : Clown tang PBT Spotted Kole tang Mini blue tang Red sea sailfin Foxface Long nose hawkfish Blue eye anthias (many) + other species i'm not sure of Splendid Leopard Wrasse (very nice!!) Black Leopard Wrasse Midas blenny Nice boxfishes Many softcorals -
Sure do, bro.
-
Thanks Bro Steven, already pm you. Finally got my hailea chiller, the friendly supplier even installed for me at my place. Indeed, a nice piece of equipment at very good price and rather silent in operation (my tank lightset with build in fan is even noiser). The only issue i faced was that the chiller sensor temp reading is always a degree lower than my tank temp...wonder why? Pump is 3100 l/hr which should be within the recommended flowrate range of 1200-3000 l/hr.
-
Thanks for all the info, bros. Think i'll go ahead to get this set. The only doubt should be the set temp. If this set can only set temp difference of only 1 degree, wonder would the chiller kick start and stop too often. I thought 2 degrees different would be better to delay the on/off and better for the chiller also? Though good thing i can think of is the chiller need not run too long each time.
-
Thanks Steven! Anyone has more comments on this set? How about which is the best pump to use Ehiem, Aquabee, Rio, etc?
-
Hi everyone, I intend to get a Hailea Chiller 500a for my 4ft due to budget. There are limited info in the net and got two nice bros who were kind enough to share their thoughts with me. As it's not cheap also, before i commit, hope can hear more thoughts/experience from bros and sis here? And some questions i have: 1. Can this set it be adjusted to have a difference of 2 degrees? e.g. 26-28 degrees 2. Is the compressor really made by Mitsubishi and comes with titanium coil? 3. I know this is subjective but it is noisy like those mini fridges in yr opinion? 4. Heard of internal temp sensor problem with hailea set previously, does this set has this problem too? Comments on any of the above are much appreciated. Thanks for helping.

It'll be risky to add any 'small' big angel as they may nip on your meaty corals, leathers and zoas. I have experienced that for emperor, french and queen.
-
The leather corner is nice. Makes the tank looks very natural. Hmm, didn't see the copperband, will be nice with it.
-
Bro, PM sent to you on the equipment.
-
Sure, just pm you on when you are going. With the scrubber pulling my NO3 down to 0-5ppm, hands always very itchy to add more fishes. I think safer to add wrasse than tangs in terms of bioload. Oh yah true, my clown tang also like to chase my tailspot wrasse at times.
