Thanks... DI mean that need to boil the water before i mix with salt ? Reason to reduce nitrate level to 05ppm or less also able to reduce the growth of algae. I want to stop the growth of algae rather than getting fishes and invertebrate to clear it for me... Mine a small tank, i try not to overcrowd my tank.

$850.. sorry to say that you have paid a ridiculous price for that. I belive you get the jbj 24g nano cube. i bought mine at $300 inclusive of live rock, live sand, salt and delivery. Use to enquire and the man say can kept at 27 degree with the fan on just nice for corals. Thought that too and thinking that i need not get extra equipments, i was wrong. I have experience mine going up to 31 degree, the fan work only with the light on and definitely is going to generate more heat and that what the fan are for... anyway useless fan. When it go to april to june period, the temp will raise, fan or not... it is going to raise your temp to at least 31 degree. Mine, i got a maxijet pump to replace the stock pump as maxijet pump are quite reliable and more powerful. hook up a chiller to the current pump and put it in the 2nd compartment. Now i can effectively maintain my temperture at 26-27 degree. Now my next job is to reduce algae and nitrate level to less than 05 ppm. Currently now is 10ppm.

Is this level normal... ? any advice to reduce to less than 05ppm ? Tap water also contain nitrate... how about boiled water, does it kill all the bacteria ? What about any products that i can use to use to reduce nitrate level ? Any advice will be deeply appreciated.

Melvin, thanks for your advice once again... i already hook my 24g to a CL280 chiller, the inlet and outlet to the chiller is located on the back of the hook, i don't think i can squeeze anything in... and my reason for getting the JBJ nano cube is to minimize equipments and cablings.... I have modified by adding a maxijet pump and CL280 chiller. Hammy.. regard to tap water nitrate.. Currently i am using a filter for my tap, kind of device that you can switch to filtrate and non-filtrate water.... for water change... i am swithing to filtrate water. ... go through filter device before output... you think that help to reduce nitrate ?

Anybody got turbo snails to let go.. i need 2 of it to clean the brown algaes on my nano tank. PM me the cost, thanks.
-
Thanks bro for all the comments. I think i will settle with shortening the light hours and get 2 or 3 turbo snails to remove the brown algae from the sand. Currently i am doing water change every weekend to reduce nitrate level and at the same time remove those brown algae from the sand and on the surface glass. I belive for a 24g nano tank... the best efficient way is to do water change. Heard that turbo snail may tumble your corals, it that true ? Currently i am stocking my corals. I have a mushroom, a star burst polyp and a frogspawn coral.

Need some info on algae control. Can anybody tell me which one is worst, the "green" or the "brown" algae ? What is the best efficeint way to remove brown algae from the sand or simply let it stay ?

sol,... i should have putting the live rock and follow the sand.. now, i will have to keep my rock firm with each other and make sure it doesn't fall off that easily... now in Hong Kong, weather is cold.... but good for me, went to Mong Kok the fish street... many accessories, fishes, live rock to see and shop especially with so many shop. I bought some stuffs already, i very happy to get the cabinet stand for my 24g jbj cube which i couldn't get it from Singapore since they only carry the "S" stand not the Cabinet Stand... Here they have the cabinet stand although they do not have the jbj cube... but have another model same size as the jbj cube. i bought the cabinet stand for HK$220, around S$48. Salt... also cheap too, Corallife 6.6 kg, i bought in Singapore for S$23, here sell HK$88 (S$19). also bought a Coralife Deep Six Hydrometer for HK$35 (S$7.6) saw in Aquamarin selling S$19. going to shop for more when i go there next week.

Will be topping 2 to 3 litres of water in place and will put in puffer to control the PH. I think during the 2 weeks not in singapore. maybe feeding will be done alternate 3 and 4 days once. I will do a water change the days before i left for HK. Over in HK, I can start to explore the fish street in Wong Kok cause heard from reefer there.. many things to see and price could be cheaper too.
-
Thanks for the advice Melvin. I think i will leave it as what it is but noted your points. By the way, how often you do a water change ? I think i will do it once every 1 and a half week. By the way, is it necessary to feed the fish once every day ? i will be leaving to HK soon for 2 weeks from next saturday for holiday and visit my in-law and nobody will be at home since wife and daughter in HK. Alternatively every 3 days, my brother will come in and take a look on my tank and feed the fishes. Will it be ok My current livestocks are 2 false clown, 1 boxer shimp, 1 dottyback, 2 feather worms and a mushroom. I have set the timer for the fan and the light.

Is it necessary to feed the fishes once a day ? any advise ?
-
Hi Melvin, thank for the advice... never have thought of that. Well... is there other way to do so other than rearranging the rock, cause will create sand storm if i tend to move the rock too much and has heard peoples moving the rocks around and the next day, fishes died because of high sudden nitrate from the sand ?
-
Yes, stay in Sengkang.

me stayed northeast too... i went to aquarmarin yeserday... didn't see any snails. Pasir ris farm went last weekend... didn't come in my mind of getting any snails, but manage to get a boxer shrimp and a green and white feather worms.
