help how to feed this fish
Marinesavy replied to Marinesavy's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
My box fish also stay on top of the tank, guess i will feed directly to it and hopefully he can get as much as possible before other fishes grab it. Thanks. -
can try the old man shop if from your place wasn't too far for it, otherwise drop the idea, might as well go to Parsir Ris Fish Farm. My house to Parsir Ris Fish Farm is only about 20mins by bus. I prefer old man shop since sometimes you do really see good and cheap stuff from there, expecially xenia, button, zoo, etc i bought a hammer with 5 head from him, he give me $12, which i consider good offer as compare to Parsir Ris Fish Farm.

can't really tell you exactly where is it. I only know bus number 103, 163 and 86 goes that, but you need to take 10mins walk into the alley. The bus stop is just outside the big florist shop, can't remember the name, maybe next time i drop by again, i will take note of it. I use to jog there, about 3.5 km from Compassvale Link.

not to forget, my algae blenny also clean the algae in live rock as well.

I got my algae blenny from jalan kayu old man shop, is near to AM, i use to visit the old man quite often as sometimes it got shipment of LPS, Polyps and fishes etc. and price can also bargain a bit. Went yeserday and got a jewel coral, button and a box fish from him. He has quite a quantity of zoo, button in various color, $5 per piece, some as big as your two palm, very healthy. LPS like bubble, hammer, frogspawn also have. I have my blenny with boxer shrimp, no issue at all. Advise you guy to buy a blenny for 24g cube, in the past before having blenny in my tank, my tank glass, sandbed and wall full of brown algae, have try various invertebrates, (turbo snails, sea cucumber) no luck, although they do clean the algae but its too slow. Guess what, my blenny clean away all the algae on my sandbed, rock, glass and wall within 2 days. can't imagine this guy can do so much of work for me. Two thumbs up for blenny. Anyway, i have my 3 snails and 1 sea cucumber to help him as well.

how to get rid of worms in my sand ?
Marinesavy replied to chercm's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
is normal when cycling tank with live rock, i had that before, a bunch of it... i didn't take it out from my tank, my two normal clown fishes ate it. -
I have bought different type of xenia and all open very nicely and long even much better after i brought back from the shop.

Chiller is a optional item for reef aquarium, whether hammer or other LPS, is a recommendation to have a chiller to keep the temp at about 26-27 degree. With Singapore weather, is very hard to achieve becasue of the hot and humid weather in Summer. Coral cannot live or do well above 30 degree. You can use Fan to replace the chiller, however... need to take care of the evaporation rate and need to top up water very frequent with buffer to maintain PH.
-
won't lah, just proive some space behind the chiller to let out the heat.

Have not use Teco brand before, but CL280 is good enough which i think firstly, afforable price and very low noise... unless you willing to spend $$$$. For such a small tank, CL280 good enough.

As for my case, i didn't modify or cut any of the part from the hood to accomodate the piping. However, i did remove the part near the opening at the back of the hood, one on the right, one on the left, can remove by unscrew and think,, push it out. Afterwhich you can push the tube in. By the way.. i saw your jewel with green tip, is it growing healthy ? I had one jewel with me for 3 weeks liao, this week i notice that it take longer time to open and not as open wider and longer as usual.

interested in your rowa. Can sell separately ?
-
juscool, no problem... hope to see you connected to the chiller soon as the hot weather is approaching very soon.
-
juscool... CL280 is pretty quiet and sometimes i don't even notice that it has been kick off. Ice probe.. ever explore before but after some finding drop the idea because :- - you need to drill the glass which i doubt it can work and extremely risky eventhough can be done. - secondly, ice probe may not be suitable for the 24g and it may take long time to cool the tank. - thirdly, expensive with the thermostat. - lastly, you need to modify the ice probe to fix into the cube, the original one you bought, you need to take out the entire hood or at least the feeding hood and connect the ice probe in it. Saw a local reefer did it for his 24g cube, very ugly, just hang the ice probe to the feeding tray. I really recommed a chiller, don't waste money on ice-probe. Currently i think aquamarine is selling a nano chiller, i think the model is cl85, cost about $200 plus, but recommend for 60 litres, just pay a $100 more for CL280. You can get secondhand too, saw nowsaday alot of reefer giving out this hobby.

may get bore after a while with this setup

bro.. how many fishes you have in your tank ? for a 24g jbj cube, should have the most 6 fishes, but recommended to have 5 fishes and below, bioload could be high and will boost nitrate fast. You have chiller in your connection ? without the chiller, quite difficult to maintain the temp especially the hot weather will be approaching soon.
