BBDC is good. At least 6 years ago it was good for me. I had a Fixed instructor and took 20 lessons. Start to finish <3 months to get the license. Of course, pass on first time but even if I failed the first attempt, second test date was only 2 weeks away max.

We have all done something wrong in our lives or have misgivings to others, intentional or accidental, therefore if that statement is true, then there will certainly always be boomerangs coming back at you all the time. Since whether you worry of consequences of your current action or not, there will be numerous source of boomerangs returning, it is futile to be cautious because one of these boomerangs will surely hit you somehow. To begin with, you were probably misguided by the LFS to use a fish for cycling. Totally unnecessary and could have been a waste of money. Decomposition on LR during curing will start the cycling of the tank. LR should have all been added together instead of in batches resulting in constant cycling and potential algae problems later. If you intend to add more LR, I would suggest removing the fish first to be kept in a cycled and mature tank with a friend, then add the new LR. Return the fish only after the cycle is complete.

What fish? Adding LR will cause the tank to cycle again that might kill the fish.

Experience and many attempts by reefers have shown that one big skimmer beats two small ones.

It is a place of refuge for small animals to escape heavy predation in the tank. It's a place to grow pods and worms separate from the main tank so that they can reproduce to replenish the population that is depleted in the main tank.

Is the fish still alive?

It is easy to overdose kalkwasser in a FOWLR setup because there is a much less demand for calcium and alkalinity than reef tanks. Dosing kalkwasser will add calcium.

Chillers are simple devices, most aircon techs will be able to service and repair it. The parts used even in the fancy Teco chillers can be replaced with generic parts.

What do you have in the tank? If it is FOWLR then why bother too much with water quality?
