  2. would like to sell my UV (since my ich infested fishes have already died...) to raise some money for my upcoming DIY projects. 2 months old used for 6 weeks - $40 neg. cheers, Mark
  3. oh yeah, you might want to check this out http://www.talkingreef.com/forums/podcast-...isode-88-a.html this guy built a fuge using a pvc pipe... pretty neat idea. haha
  4. hi, does using gravity feed mean that you'll have to drill holes in the tank? i think in his nano tank, it might not be feasible. maybe a hang on fuge? i used to use a ball valve to control a siphon down into my sump tank and return pump up into my nano tank but it flooded a few times. i definitely agree with what LaW said... 2 pumps won't work too because difference in water pressure will result in different flow rate... for example if the refuge is below the main tank, a siphon will occur and the pump draining down into the refuge will be faster
  5. anyone has one to let go? want to cut some branching lps. thanks!
  6. if you have a rock with half dead zoos and the rest are ok, do u just scrap off the dead ones? i tried dipping some zoos today... added two cap of iodine into a rather small container. didn't blast the water around on the zoo though
  7. bro, u buying or selling ? if u need one, i have a spare can tloan u first. haha
  8. oh no... just read that too much calcium will cause my inverts's shell to harden b4 it molts and this might kill them i have 7 (+1 missing, presumably dead) shrimps in the tank... how?
  9. thats what i thought too... so its still okay to top it up into the water with the calcium precipitate?
  10. i'm using coral sea salt and previously i didn't have this problem. i would mix the salt and leave it overnight and next day adjust the salt mix to make sure that the salinity is okay and then just top it up into my tank now that my first packet of coral sea salt is finishing... there seem to be alot of whitish specks in my pail of salt mix which was left overnight... did the salt go bad? i didn't fully seal it properly and i think moisture got in and some of them clumped up together a little... is the salt mix still usable if i run it through filter wool into my sump w/ protein skimmer?
  11. bro, dun mind can post some photos on your shrooms cutting process? hehe thanks!!
  12. woo... v nice. you are a super power DIYer. haha the mobile water top up thing is v interesting! i'm actually thinking of setting up a prop tank after my exams.. mind if i take a look at your tank and get some advise from you?
  13. up for a very nice seller! thanks for waiting just now. =)
  14. i'm thinking of breaking up my 8 headed hammer coral coz its quite crowded as it is now.... read that u can use a dremel to saw it off but i dun think i'm gonna invest in one yet. does anyone have any other way to break the branches w/o using brute force? will those normal pliers from hardware shop work? also can i do this dry? as in out of water. don't wanna cut off my finger accidentally. haha i'm think the coral will puke mucus if i take it out of the water so i should probably rinse it first after cutting b4 putting back into main tank right?
  15. hi, i have a gonio that my 3 nemos really love but is taking too much space in the tank so i need to trade it away. it was given to me by a friend when one of the head died but so far it is doing pretty good in my tank. actually the other head is 1/9th dead.. you can still see some 'tentacles' at the bottom part. also there is some kind of sponge growing behind (black) and underneath (red) it too. sorry for the poor photo quality, took it with my hp. each head is about fist size... i guess if u want u can chisel off the other dead head. am looking for zoa frags, 1/2 used test kits, 2ft sump tank ( i can top up), overflow box, filter wool, etc actually i would like to trade it for anything useful... and maybe even give it out to fellow bro for free. just send me a pm with your offer collection would be near upp bkt timah area. can send it to you if u're not too far away too.
  16. wow.. stumbled upon this thread... really nice tank u have there. like the way you did your planning and set out with objectives that u've been adhering to. really like the low carbon footprint thingy... think i'm going to think hard about my setup too after exam. also u reminded me how expensive this hobby is... maybe the next objective you can start thinking about is reef conservation? aquaculture so that this will become a sustainable hobby and future generations will still be able to see the beauty of corals, be it in nature or in a controlled reef tank environment. keep us updated and keep posting the v nice photos! would love to see the tank in person one day, happy reefing. =D
