  1. hope that all the zoa planters in sg will shared their nice 'tank bred' zoas around more so one day we can export 'SG Zoas' too... hehee
  2. nice photos bro... really like the reefs there, very healthy and vis is always so good. just wanna share some photos and videos i took during my last two trips up this season http://scubuddies.com/divelogs/DiveTripDetail.aspx?TripID=70 http://scubuddies.com/divelogs/DiveTripDetail.aspx?TripID=74 first trip was more eventful coz saw a few sharks, check out the videos. hehee stayed at redang kalong, v nice dive operator... superb service!
  3. nice tank thread! whats the bail out method and care to show a pic of your diy denitrator? am thinking of doing one. i'm using fan in the daytime and it does a great job keeping the tank cool and preventing my chiller from kicking in but water evaporates really fast... so am curious what the bail out dripping method is about. any update on the twin spot? i love these guys but tried keeping one about 2 yrs back. it fed on shrimps and henry's food readily but one day it just died.
  4. haha better go get wet at aur or tioman before the season ends! =D
  5. took a v nice photo of a mandarin fish from Kevin's tank... really like the coloration... so am wondering if i can keep one in my tank too my 3ft tank is about 7 months old now.. i have a 2ft sump and use 3 tubes T5 HO lighting the LS i have in my tank are as follow 1 yellow tang 3 inch 3 common clown 1 lawnmower blenny 1 sailfin tang 2 inch 3 hermit crabs in my sump many different types of zoas and palys... some branching LPS, 1 favia, 3 clams, 1 1/4 gonio, many many mushrooms.. i'm using coral chips as base, thinking of adding sand maybe later... have some life rocks in sump but dunno if there are many pods living in there.. probably sucked up by the skimmer. haha so how? possible to keep a nice mandarin fish??
  6. hey fellow divers, thought i'll share this with you all... heh happy diving, mark
  7. it is a type of goniopora spp. do a google search on "goniopora care" and you should be able to find lots of info on it... although it is a cheap coral, it can be quite a hard coral to keep actually... happy reefing
  8. Hi, i have the following to sell 1. Octo, 2 branches. about fist size ($12 or best offer) 2. Hammer coral, 4 or 5 branches. slightly bigger than fist size ($20 or best offer) 3. Hairy mushrooms... green. very hardy and grows really fast! ($8 or best offer) collection will be at upp bukit timah
  9. anyone has one to give away? please pm me.. thanks!
  10. oh thats great! thanks for the headsup. will check it out soon
  11. any bro letter go of theirs ? does anyone know where I can get 1? I can exchange my normal impeller with u too cheers
  12. selling the following 1. Aquabee 2000 - $80 in good condition 2. Jebo 13W UV (used for 6 weeks) - $30 good for quarantine tank cheers, Mark
  13. nori is seaweed lor. the one used to wrap sushi one? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nori any type u can get from supermarket will do... it is more nutritious for the fish i think... since it originated from the sea. make sure u get those unsalted and un-fried (oil) one mm... some pple would squeeze the garlic juice from garlic themselves... but i feel that's alot of work and messy. u can easily get seachem garlic guard or other garlic juice food supplement form LFS. somehow the ifsh really love the food that's soaked in garlic. that's how i trained my yellow tang to feed on pellet.. haha initially it'll only eat nori.
  14. hi thanks for replying. mm... in that way i cannot vary the DC voltage, thus varying the fan speed... i believe the temp controller for my chiller now is doing "Thermostat -> AC" now actually i found a DC fan that has a variable output built in... http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewItem.aspx?idproduct=IC5113 but why so expensive one.... haha
  15. upz... the condition of this thing is in 9.5 / 10 no leaks and UV bulb working v well... can try / see b4 u buy i added it after 2 of my tangs died from ich, and the remaining 2 have no more ich now. so i would like to believe that it worked in my 3 ft tank..
  16. mmm.. but i think the ones at the bottom are under stronger current cause thats where my wavemaker is pointing at. i switch the wavemaker on only in the day time... some other folks have hypothesized that the corals, like us, grow only when the lights are out... maybe that's true in this case? anyway is 29 an okay temp for zoos, LPS (hammer, frogspawn, octo) and mushies? thinking of dialing the temp up and try...
  17. i believe you are talking bout ICH. most pple would advise you of hypo treatment but i haven't had much success with it... i believe good nutritious food is just as important.. feeding your tang with nori soaked in garlic guard seem to work for mine you can also try UV, but do note that UV kills the good and bad bacteria in the water, and only works in one stage of the life cycle of the ICH. i also have some cleaner shrimp in my tank that seem to help pick out the ICH on the tangs. there is a thread on the Disease treatment/parasite/pest control subforum dedicated to this. good luck!
  18. i wanna make a thermostat w/ DC output such that the output will be around 7 - 12V depending on the temperature of the water how do I go about doing that? reason being my chiller is using lots of electricity and i want to add fan to help the cooling process. am thinking of mounting 2 or 3 12mm computer DC axial fan on pvc pipes across the top of the tank i currently have a thermostat but it outputs AC for my chiller. ideally i would like a separate thermostat to vary the DC fan speed.... if anyone has done this before, can tell me how much such a thermostat will cost? i'm only a poor student..... thanks for reading
  19. any updates from users of this product? am thinking of trying... but promotion over le? boohoo....
  20. mm... i'm just wondering what is the optimal temp for zoas to grow? i keep my tank at 28 and i realized the zoos at the lower part of the tank tend to grow faster than those higher up.. i believe the water below is colder too right? since heat rises and the white substrate helps reflect light up... so am thinking if i should lower my tank's temp for optimal zoas growth... i also have lots of mushies and some branching lps in my tank
  21. i dun think it'll be a problem.. i used to keep these hairy mushrooms without chiller too.. even now with chiller i only chill my tank to 28 - 29. and mine are doing very well in the tank. grows really fast... anyway bought some chaeto from sisreefer b4.. good stuff so decided to help her answer. hah
  22. wow... 2 super crowded nano tanks... bro seriously should read up more on the basics first.. if not all these money spent on the LFs will go down the drain.. fingers crossed for you just some thoughts 1. firstly i think u need to properly cycle your tank before adding so much bioload... same concept in freshwater tank, let the bacterias grow first so can convert all the ammonia into nitrite into nitrate 2. read up on equipments... lightings for corals, skimmers, bio filtration, etc.. 3. research more about the fish b4 you buy... like their dietary requirement, space requirement, ,etc... dun just take every word that the fish shop says.. things to watch out for... tangs and angels needs lots of place to move about put 2 big tangs in a small 2 ft tank, i guess they're pretty stressed and most likely territorial. chasing each other like mad right? stressed tang leads to ich (parasite) out break.. watch out for the blue tang.. will probably show it first. ich spreads like wildfire and its hard to control in nano environments... so then lets hope the tank won't crash then.... watch out for your fire gobies... .i love these guys.. v beautiful.. but they like to jump out of the tank. esp when its so crowded... kena chase by the tang or angel or maroon clown and watch it shoot out of the tank..... maroon is gonna pawn the common clowns... no questions asked. u might want to give the maroon clown or baby clowns away. or separate them in 2 different tanks. clams need lots of light.. what lighting are u using? your's look like it lost its original color and became brown (need more algae in its mantle to make food because insufficient light) just browse the forum and i'm sure you'll learn alot... good luck
