yeah someone collected the fish. sorry
-
hi, sorry David came and collected it tonight cause he works just around the corner. didn't want to stress the clownfish too much in a small bucket of water...

haha good advise but i think most people won't have the patience to wait for coraline to grow before stocking here are my 2 cents on your tank.. 1. remove the dead corals.. live rocks should be more than enough. the plate coral skeleton that is in the vertical position really catches my eye. hah 2. i'll probably check out the temp w/o the fan and see if it is okay. if temp is <29, i'll not use the fan and move the lighting further back, into the middle section. 3. what do you have in the HOF? if its those ceremic rings, get rid of it. besides filter wool, i dunno what else should go in there. probably make it into a mini refugium for pods to grow? 4. get a skimmer, u'll be surprised what kindof stuff it can extract from the water, especially if you are gonna have > 1 fish. even clownfish eats and shits alot too... 5. actually with your LR, you might be able to scape something like an arena style.. something like a colosseum. saw one very nice one on reefcentral before.. u might wanna try that as for stocking recommendation... clownfish, gobies, shrimps ? you can also try easy to keep corals like mushrooms and maybe zoas.

Bukit Timah area, near beauty world cheers

I have 3 clowns in my tank and the biggest one has been acting very aggressive recently. whenever i stick my hand into the tank to clean it or move something, it would bite me. so i've decided that 2 is enough and would like to give the biggest alpha female clownfish away. she has been in captivity for > 2 years and has some black spots on her body. the black spots is caused by the branching lps and zoa colonies that she sleeps in... she is feeding well and is caged for now, so anyone who wants her can just pm me. if nobody wants to adopt her, i'll probably release her back to the sea cheers

Hi Ming, can I reserve your sunflowers and green rim? I can pickup tonight! cheers, Mark

Croceas length with mantle exposed and not
markietan replied to site30's topic in General Reefkeeping_
mmm... interesting i have 2 croceas, 1 green and 1 blue. they are about the same size and extends about the same when the lights are on... altough the green one is much closer to the lighting than the blue one at night they are around 8-9cm in length in the day time, it is about 11-12cm. dunno how to get exact measurement coz i dun have a measuring tape. and i'm sure they won't let me too. haha that's the best i can do by approximation with plastic ruler! cheers, Mark -
oh yeah blue light seems to help speed up the growth too. Not too sure about the coloration, i think water parameters needs to be just right for good coloration. someone correct me if i'm wrong... cheers, mark

Nope... i haven't seen my zoos or mushrooms eat prawn / brine shrimps b4. From my own experience, some phyto liquid from time to time helps speed up their growth though. =)

Ways to save electricity bill for your marine tank
markietan replied to mousecat11's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
my fan and lights kick in at the same time everyday.... use kalk reactor for auto topup and it is working quite well for me. dun have to dose kh / calcium additive and my chiller seldom kicks in.. only when its a crazy hot day / night then the chiller will kick in. also do service your chiller from time to time so that it takes shorter to chill the tank down. lastly, you want to calibrate your temp probe too for your chiller. i found mine to always report 1 degree higher than other thermometer. mh is good for bigger tanks... more environmentally friend i feel because t5 tubes have mecury... -
if i'm not wrong all compact cluorescent lights (CFL) contains mecury.. so what do u do with your old t5 tubes? is there a channel in sg where I can recycle it? some of the tubes are still quite bright, just that the light produced is abit yellowish, which causes algae to grow very fast...

hi, what is the size of the PT ?
-
yeah sure looks like a mushroom frag that had fallen off. my mushrooms shrinks at night too and expands in the day when the light is on. and i dun think u need to feed it anything... i frequently dose phytoplankton into my tank but that's more for my lps and zoas... mushrooms are really easy to care for, so u shouldn't have too much prob with it. hehe welcome to the hobby =D
-
ahhh!!! very nice gem zoo! frag me some when it grows! =p

you might want to check with jireh. i emailed the china manufacturer and they replied saying their local distributor is jireh... so i guess they will give the best price? mark

Jireh carries it and have a few of it running in his shop. U can go check it out at his place... I think it works pretty well, albeit a little pricey for a china made skimmer.
