  1. there is a super long thread on dosing vitamin c for zoas at reefcentral. just wanna find out if anyone tried it before and how are the results... also looking around for the powdered (buffered) form of vitamin C at pharmacies.. not much luck but will keep looking. if anyone knows where I can get sodium ascorbate, do let me know. thanks!!!
  2. use a chisel... LRs are v easy to break apart... if the zoa mat stretches across multiple shattered pieces of rock, use a clean scissors or knife to cut it apart. just cut the mat and not the mouth and they should survive pretty well. =)
  3. actually i just measured it, its not exactly 2ft cube. its 23cm (front) by 20cm (side) by 18cm (height)
  4. can your car seat be lowered down? the tannk itself should be okay but the stand might be problematic. the tank is not heavy, i can handle it alone... and i'm not exactly v strong.... it should fit in a decent size car boot
  5. just tell her furan-2 she will know? that time i went polyart, they have quite a few medication called furan-something. some made by qian hu some imported from china... but i dun dare to buy scared later kill my zoas instead....
  6. upz... if no one wants i'll have to throw it away to make space...
  7. anyone knows which lfs sells it? pm me please... i might have a colony that is down with this. doesn't seem like its spreading... yet
  8. 2ft cube tank w/ stand is still available. forgot to mention it has bracing on top and the blue color background can be removed, its just stuck on with tape for now.
  9. i have a 2ft cube tank to give. used it for awhile for holding tank but just decommed. it comes with a stand which needs a good paint as it is abit rusty also the tank's bottom is red in color, so might be good for those who are keeping exortic seahorse lastly i also have a 2ft by 1ft stand to go for free. self collection at upp bukit timah area, near beauty world. PM me if interested thanks! Mark
  10. what about the calcium level in your tank? dKH is in the range? check out this article http://saltaquarium.about.com/od/aboutcora...s/coralline.htm
  11. yup yup refering to f. ricordia. thanks for the detailed explaination have a few more questions... 1. will temperature cause bleaching? my tank is kept at around 28C to 29C during the day, at night it usually drops to around 27C or so 2. when the f. rics are open up wide, is it a sign that they need more light? 3. when you say brighter lights yield brighter color, does your brighter color refer to colors like orange and yellow? 4. I read that f. rics can change color to whatever color they like, so technically if their color is slowly fading, they can be colored back right? 5. will rics fight with other mushrooms? I have alot of smaller mushrooms in the same tank 6. if they polps don't stick to prey, how does it move the prey to its mouth? or they just close up all together to consume the prey? lastly, i still don't have balls to cut them yet. hehe although i have had success with propagating mushrooms but these guys are too expensive to cut up. thanks again for your input!!! =)
  12. would like to trade for the above. will upload photos later. feel free to suggest other trade, but i'm mainly looking for an overflow box. thanks!
  13. yeah.. i am keeping an eye on that. my T5 only comes on from 4pm to 8pm... 4 hours aday. since its mostly mushrooms, i'm gonna depend on the LED sticks for the rest of the day. other than that, the only other thing that contributes to the heat is the small skimmer pump. which is like 8W or something... =)
  14. my room lor, small small only. still got space on the table to study. hah
  15. hehe thanks bro for the clown. i think they are starting to like each other. previously they slept at their own corner, now both sleep together. abit afraid it might get sucked into the skimmer though.. coz they are so small... but so far so good.
  16. cycling with some mushrooms and LR. hahaa top down view (prodibio vial in picture was used during cycling) was thinking of what fish to stock and tansk gave me this pair of super cute baby clowns that's it for now. i've since added quite abit of LR but still don't really like my scaping. i've moved the LED sticks out of the water as it heats up the water quite abit. Also added a solite 2ft 2 X T5 from my decommed frag tank coz the LED sticks are not bright enough the tank temp is pretty stable at 28C but the china made digital thermometer abit unreliable also for those who spotted the tube coming out from the top of the skimmer, its a little modification that the previous owner did. it allows me to operate a limewood airstone (with an airpump) in the reaction chamber to create more bubbles.
  17. here are the initial setup pics 2ft pentas tank red sea aragonite sand oceanus 4ft led stick red sea prizm skimmer with surface skimmer attachment too excited and poured sand into the tank w/o washing first... skimmer doing its job
  18. firstly, i would like to thank bro Paullim for the free pentas 2ft tank and bro Kangster for the free red sea aragonite sand... bro tansk for the free baby clowns and bro kevin33868 for the yumas and mushrooms as my mushrooms kept falling off the rocks in my main tank, i decided to move all my mushrooms into this nano tank which i've decided to setup in my room equipments list 2ft Pentas tank (tempered glass?) Red sea prizm protein skimmer with surface skimmer attachment Oceanus LED stick (4ft) http://www.oceanus-light.com/oceanusled.html Solite 2ft 2 X T5 Digital thermometer fish list 2 x baby clown coral list various colored mushrooms, yumas and ric florida
  19. mm... thanks for the link. i just added more t5 lights to my tank.. think i better move it into the shade under my monti and see how. shouldn't have bought such a big piece of rics b4 i do my research ar... =(
  20. would help if you can state what lens is included too. thanks! =)
  21. thanks for all replies. i read about that too, too much light will stress it. i'm gonna try and put it lower and see how it goes. the other ric in my nano tank lighted by 2 LED strips opens real big but its orange also kindof fading. haha
  22. mm... its aquaz brand. my zoas are all okay. even my clams are doing well... should the lighting be more blueish or whitish? or 1:1 ? also will actinic help?
  23. i don't think it will cause any pollution.. my zoas does that from time to time too. i suppose you do have a skimmer runnign right?
  24. so i bought an orange ric sometime ago and i placed it quite high up in my tank. i'm running 3 X 3ft T5, 2 blue pro and one sun pro so after a month or so, the ric's orange coloration kindof faded into yellow. and as i just bought another 15+ rics from another reefer... am afraid the new addition will suffer the same fate in the long run. i've placed them on the sand for now... so my question is... how to properly care for rics? what kindof water condition / parameters should i be looking out for? will discolored rics color up agian? if so how? also recently got quite abit of death in my tank... turbo snails and some anthias so nitrate spiked. no time to change water but will do so within next day or two. i also placed another orange ric into my other 2ft tank illuminited by oceanus LED (http://www.oceanus-light.com/oceanusled.html). it seem to have suffered the same fate with discoloration... but under blue light it still look good at least... but the other yumas and mushrooms in that tank are okay. am i missing out something here?
  25. its the zoo expelling its zooxanthellae happens under stress of when you change the lighting setup
