yeah the house reef of the resort where we stayed had lots of mandarin fishes... for the 4 days i stayed there, i dove that site everyday to watch them mate... really different from how they behave in our captive environment they actually live in groups, 1 male and a bunch of females in 1 "den". then at around 545 to 615, they will bang bang non stop. haha and when the bang bang they come close together and are quite photogenic. but the light is quite low and its abit harder to focus, so must catch the timing right and get your buddy to be light man. can't get enough of watching mandarinfish ######. haha very cute!! this is my first time seeing them in the wild btw. if anyone is a mandarinfish fan and is a diver, u definitely have to go there to check it out as for the fire dartfish, it was everywhere. quite friendly too.. but this pic had a nice sexy posture to it so i thought i'll post process it and put it up.

My friend gave this to me and its supposedly a TECO? Anyway I dun need it. The external temp controller is faulty but the chiller works fine. Able to chill down my 3ft tank. The chiller is abit noisy and is abit rusty on the exterior. Just get a temp controller from Sim Lim and you should be able to run it fine. Dimension of the chiller is 12 inches (length) by 15 inches (breadth) by 12 inches (height). Pictures as attached Anyone interested please pm me. I'm at bukit timah / beauty world area. Would be nice if you can offer some frags for trade. Hope to clear by CNY, otherwise have to hide it in the storeroom. cheers, Mark

yes they are photosynthetic.. when they are placed in a new environment or when the lighting conditions changes, sometimes they expel incompatible zooxanthelle in their body which you will see as a stringy stuff from their mouth. but dun worry, they are pretty hardy and will survive. i've never fed my zoas and they are doing great in my tank for a year now. hope that helped

hi all, I have the following to let go.. 1. HnS Skimmer A110 - F2000 : $290. This skimmer can be run externally, out of sump. Runs on a AB2000 (18W) and impeller is in good condition. Am currently running it now but it will be taken out of the system in 1 week's time (upgrading to bigger HnS). Will throw in a free feeder pump. 2. Aquabee 2000 pump : $80. Spare pump, works great, low wattage (18W). 3. 1.5" QT Tank : $10. This is a plastic tank with a red cover. The cover has some holds that I cut to allow for overhead filter. The tank is similar to those that people keep baby terrapins in, just much bigger. 4. Jebao 4 in 1 fan : $18. No rust, works great! 5. Eheim Pail/Bucket Canister : $25. This is not the typical canister filter. It is literally bucket size (think of the coral life salt bucket, but slightly shorter). Tried and tested recently, the seal is good will not leak. This was previously used for koi pond, but is great for remote deep sand bed (RDSB) or mechanical filtration. However the original pump could not be found. 2 x 1m eheim pipes provided for both input / output. 6. Eheim Pump 1262 (faulty) : $15. If I'm not wrong, there is a hole in the wiring of the pump which causes water to leak in when run insump, thus short-circuiting the pump. The pump is sold as-is. The impellor is in good condition and it comes with original box and accessories. Please pm me if you have any questions and I will try and reply asap. I also reserve the rights to sell to the person I want. Of course if you buy more I'll give some discount. thanks for looking!

bristle worms growing on zoas
markietan replied to yongshun's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
for aiptasia, just inject a dose of kalk into them and they should die off... other more organic ways suggest injecting with lemon juice to kill them. they tend to grow fast so if you see your's getting out of control, better act soon. however i dunno if they will affect zoa frags. i haven't seen mine do anything to my zoas before. -
Drill a hole + Pipe down to Sump

hi where are you located?

what's the advantage of using oyster shells over sand or coral chips?

interesting design... just a suggestion on the seio, the rubber suckers are not v good and in time it'll not be able to hold it in place.. so u might wanna do a hang on or use a magnet to hold it there why not put the seio all the way below... since it is a bare bottom tank, u won't get sand storm and u'll get good water circulation and blow all the shit up into the overflow. hehh

my mushies arranged nicely before they all got lost in the tank... moved my rock of rics over from my main tank to my nano nice mushrooms from kev

i too own this skimmer and find the skimmer okay. i bought it 2nd hand from someone on this forum... he did a little mod on it which i find quite useful... he drilled a hole on the top of the skimmer cover, just big enough for an airpipe. then he insert the red sea wood block thingy into the reaction chamber and connect that to an external air pump through that hole. that way more bubbles is created in the reaction chamber, and i can slow down the water flow out from the skimmer, which in turn reduce the number of microbubbles flowing back into the tank. it also reduces the noise of the skimmer (the tank is in my bedroom). i find the surface skimmer quite useful. i also think cleaning the gunk accumulated on the 'funnel' regularly aids in the skimming efficiency. overall i think its performance is decent, vs say a weipro skimmer.

pls pls pls don't take them from our local water... these corals are having a hard time as it is, trying to fight all the sediments in our local water. now that the land reclaimation is cut back by alot, they finally have a chance to grow and reproduce.. so leave them alone ya? actually there's alot of other stuff in sg waters too... angel fish, sea horse, pipefish, nudibranch, etc etc =)
