this coral has also been with me for awhile it has a nice "pear" shape.. something like cutting a pear into half is what you get. its bigger than a pear though, slightly bigger than fist size. has been growing slowly (maybe because lack of feeding) but no dead exposed skeleton photo taken with flash. cannot really tell the shape because it is propped up and photo taken from an angle selling at $25
-
forgot to post price... $8
-
slightly smaller than fist size about 10 green hairy mushrooms growing on it... these things grow fast and spread around the tank so be careful... every 2 weeks or so i have to stick my hand in to pull one or two of these out cause they are covering my other nicer corals. great beginner corals nontheless taken w/ flash and actinic light no flash
-
had this for sometime now... a fast grower and have to let go because its shading the other corals below it.. initially wanted to frag it into many smaller pieces to sell but don't have the heart to shatter it into smaller pieces.. besides its quite hard to break it.. the diameter of the monti is about 8 inches, and it is abit more than a semi-circle... so make sure you have space for it picture was taken 5 mins ago w/ flash and actinic light on start bid : $15 min bid increment : $0.50 ending bid date : 2 March (Monday) 2359. i reserve the rights to keep it if the final bid is too low...

mm... recently dealt with him. seem like quite a nice guy wor... he got a big piece of grey zoa from coral farm and wanted to share with me. he said he gave me the bigger piece, which is indeed quite big... something like fist size for $6. but dunno is it because it was in the plastic bag for too long or because i freshwater dipped it for awhile (<30 secs) or is it the fragging techniques, the polyps at the side started rotting and things got out of hand so i threw it out before my other zoas were affected... he says he visits the LFS around singapore quite often, so i did ask him to help me check out the AB500 shaft cost and he did help me find out at AM the next day and texted me. even offered to help me buy if i transferred him the money, so i thought he was quite nice anyway sorry to hear about your plight. hope you can get that acrylic cover replaced soon... just take it as a lesson learnt (albeit a costly one?). btw he said he's located at bukit batok? maybe that's his office or home. dunno.... -

how to introduce clam to new lighting setup?
markietan replied to markietan's topic in General Reefkeeping_
this is how it looked like originally (yesterday) maxima on the left, crocea on the right this is how it looks like now... crocea on the left, maxima at the middle, derasa on ther ight closer shot of the crocea -
yesterday i made a mistake... i shifted some of my clams (1 maxima, 1 crocea, 1 derasa) to my sump tank where i've installed a 14k MH. i switched on the mh and left the clams there for about an hour and when i returned, all the clams were closed up and looked shriveled. quickly switched the mh off.... then i researched online and realized that i should have shielded them first to let them get used to the lighting slowly... otherwise they would get burn by the uv radiation from the mh and bleach and die. the clams were placed high up in my rock work previously under 7 x 34W T5HO and were very healthy, although abit dull. this morning the crocea started opening again (under a 2ft PL light) but the maxima is still closed up. can see parts of the mantle out actually but shriveled... currently i have an egg crate and a black mesh over them with the mh on... gonna check back again in awhile... what else do i need to do to acclimatize it to the new lighting? should i put them back in the main tank first until they are stabalized first before trying again or just continue with the mh?

hi sis ming, mind telling me where to get and how much? i'm dosing magnesium ascorbate powder now... concentration according to the nutrition table is lower... 1 teaspoon only 2135mg... got algae boom now but might be because of my heavy feeding... just up from 5ppm to 10ppm yesterday... all my zoas their skirting like extending shorter? dunno. maybe its just me... will observe a few more days. am trying to cure a colony of zoas that has shrunken after the tank shifting... have another colony of zoa from hk that is always not fully open too. trying to see if vit c will help..
-
wow... all v fast. baby croceas... these don't come by often... dang. nvm, can go tansk's place and view. hah
-
hey Sis Ming, 20mg or 20ppm? coz according to the reefcentral thread For every 100 gallons 5 ppm ----- 1892 mg VC 10 ppm ---- 3785 mg VC 15 ppm ---- 5677 mg VC 20 ppm ---- 7570 mg VC 25 ppm ---- 9462 mg VC 30 ppm ---- 11355 mg VC and they say for treatment of melting zoas must maintain concentration of 50 ppm for 10 more days to 30 more days... dosing in a big volume tank like yours, very chor ar. anyway hijackng, excellent photos! what macro lens are you using, so nicee!
-
wow thats alot of light. have you been able to maintain their coloration with this lighting setup? some of them are really gorgeous... what's your current stock list like? i have 6Xmaximas and 3x corceas in my tank now... gonna add another 2 baby squamosas soon when i find a correct spot to place them. =D i love clams too
-
some more pictures taken today HTS (half tank shot) Clams and rics. I added 3 more baby maxima... very nice shipment from coral farm This radioactive green one is stuck to the glass!

hi all, the orange/yellow frag is different from what i've posted. after taking some closeups, i realize its much greenish/yellow instead. However i'm quite sure i got that frag from ming , so it might be from a different colony anyway... here's a pic of the frag. i've received many pms about it for trade but i tot i'll post a picture of the actual colony i have first before i make any promises. sorry to all whom i've disappoint, i should have used my own photo instead of mings. if you're still interested in trading for that frag, do let me know. thank
-
hi all i have about 5 frags of the following zoa for trade/sale. all opening up nicely and stuck on frag plugs. each frag is about 5 to 8 polyps The zoa has a nice red skirting (orangy under blue lights). Face is whitish, mouth is a tinge of yellow. Polyp size is slightly smaller than a 5 cent coin. tighter crop of the focused polyps i also have a frag of this orange/green rim zoa. bought from ming sometime ago and it had grew out quite abit pic borred from ming i also have about 3 frags of eagle eyes. w/ at least 10 polyps each. haven't took photos for this and lastly this pic is for iskay i might have 1 more of this mushroom for sale if anyone is interested let me know.
