  1. naka: yeah, i know a 4 footer doesn't belong here but i felt the aquascaping that you nano tank guys do are really suitable for such a shallow tank, and decided to ask you here how you did it! southpaw: thanks! that's exactly what i'm looking for! like if it's possible. cos i wanna do it like "zen" style but all the links i've ever found online are dead! haha
  2. Hi everyone, I am thinking of getting a 4x1.5x1.5 but i fear that aquascaping would be quite difficult. I hope to keep a mixed tank, SPS and LPS, but worry that i do not have enough depth. I have since envisioned that it would be a rather "zen" like feel to the aquascaping (much like many nano tanks), but i could not find many examples of such tanks online. If you have any, or suggestions of how i can aquascape such a tank, it would be a tremendous help! thanks!
  3. Heads up Coolsky There's a silver lining in every dark cloud.. you just gotta look for it.
  4. You can try marinelife @ hongleong gardens... it's at west coast there...
  5. I like the sound of that... guitar, AND reeftalk
  6. jem: nice tank man!! how come the etss overflow? wah, the tangs are looking good... if you're free (and when i'm free) can stop by and see??!!!??!! will be checking back here often! dradttq: it's good you checked... don't think bro jem would ever be like that one... he's a great guy! hopefully he's ok with it all...
  7. woah.., wouldn't that be a mess then? Everyone calling and all? hehe...
  8. Hi, Is it possible to "revive" live rock after it's gone dead? Most of the coralline algae on mine's gone, and certainly most of the organism too. Can i just put it into a tank and seed it with good live rock and hope that everything gets restored?
  9. so, has anyone ever kept them till they're full grown? I remember seeing them on my cleaners, but, always kenna eaten one...
  10. As far as i know, it's not... but the tank really looks great! I'm still thinking of getting it, but, i can't find a cabinet or maker withinmy budget! all the best earth! Thanks too sam!
  11. Hey guys, Does anyone have any idea if there are good tank and cabinet makers in JB? I'm hoping that it'll be cheaper than making tanks here. Wonder if any of you had any experience or knew of any who would do marine tanks at good quality and competitive price. Thanks!
  12. "no cyano no us"? Only if you subscribe to evolution theory right? hehe... anyways, i was thinking, do any of you still use trickle filters? with bioballs and all? Or, have we moved on beyond that? I know it's been like mainstream filtration, especailly after Thiel's books published in the 80s... What else do you put in your sumps/ref?
  13. COol bro!! nice looking! I thought you wanted to put on black oyama sticker? or am i seeing wrong? can't wait to see you continue!!
  14. Looks good jem! and amen on a great dad! hehe
  15. Hey guys, as much as coralline algae is good on the rocks and all, how do you get rid of them on the glass if they start growing there? Don't wanna scratch the glass... lagi worse if it's an acrylic tank!
  16. upz hey jem! all the best selling your tank!
  17. It's quite sian to keep opening up the canister man..., then, find it hard to prime.. i use 2 of the Eheim Pro II canisters, with the priming thing? but it doesn't prime that easily?!! Maybe you can help! I thought at first cos i used a surface skimmer with it, but, it's still quite hard after i took it out... does hose length play a part? boohoo
  18. I was just wondering what you guys used in the cannister? Is it quite packed, or is the media quite loosely put in?
  19. Hey guys! Anyone here has successfully kept a reef tank with canisters alone?
  20. oh man!! hehe... okok, that's a given.. a tank is a must!!
  21. Coral beauty from sentosa? Where?
  22. What air blower did you use? There's no reason why it shouldn't work. If i remember my sec school science: any gas under pressure will drop in temperature when there is a drop in pressure... that's how refrigerants work anyway, through the compression (hence we call it the compressor) and expansion of the refigerant the only question is: is this enough to cool a tank?
  23. actually ah, I used 2 canisters instead of a sump, which in retrospect felt like a mistake. It's such a hassle to maintain. wonder if any of you have success keeping reef tanks with canisters alone. Mine's a 4X1.5X1.5, and i run 2 ehiem II canisters on it.
  24. Woah blueheaven, powerful quote man... i'll bear that in mind. Btw, you've got a really nice tank... saw you build it up slowly I'm still dreaming...
