  1. but if don't glue then how to ensure that water doesn't leak?
  2. bro, you're back!!! yeah!!! Gotta help me with mine yeah??!
  3. Hi I'm looking for bioballs to set up a new tank too... Would appreciate some! maybe, split with another reefer or something...
  4. Spoon> I'm not sure if the surge protection thing is for that... I always thought that was to protect your EQUIPMENT from lightning surges etc, but not to protect you from a shock. my main concern is safety for my family, myself, and of course, my livestock. zerocool> thanks for your advice... so your suggestion is to wire up a completely different circuit for the tank, so that if one shuts down, the other won't be affected? do you happen to know if that's expensive? Or if it requires to rewire and break down walls etc? Also, is it really necessary to arrange to allow the socket to handle a larger load? Is it dangerous to just run everything on one socket?
  5. Calling all those experienced in dealing with electricity. Basically, this is the situation... i've only got one socket where i want to set up my tank, but i'm not sure if it's enough for everything. Furthermore, i don't know if the socket shares the same circuit breaker switch on the main board. I'm thinking of setting up the tank, but wanna do it so it's safe... here's what i'm hoping to do: 1) have the main plug changed to those industrial waterproof ones 2) build a waterproof casing over the extensions that i'm going to use so that any spills won't affect it 3) install a circuit breaker/ground fault interrupter in case electrical thing has a short or something... Does anyone know where i can learn how to do these things? websites, resources etc? and where i can get the materials? My load will be quite typical... pumps, chiller, 2x150MH, skimmer, pwerheads
  6. So should i stick another laminate over the previous, or remove and stick? can anyone enlighten me to the advantages and disadvantages? Do any of you know where i can get those laminates? Maybe i shouldn't use wood veneers, but those laminates with wood grain pattern... I didn't want to paste the sticker kind cos i thought it may come off after awhile.. it's not so permanent...
  7. So, just to ask you guys, Is FLOW more important? Or is it simply the amound of flow into the filters? OK, a little confusing, but, is the circulation inside the tank more important than the actual amount going into the filter/sump?
  8. thanks bro... was wondering if anyone's done it before? is it super hard?
  9. yeah yeah, i'll post up a pic once i get home tonight! hehe... now cycling...
  10. Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you have had any experience removing laminates from cabinets and pasting on new one? I'm thinking of doing that to change the look of a cabinet but want to find out if its possible. Of, if pasting a new laminate over the old formica one will work? Or, maybe, if i paint? what are your opinions? Or, should i try and find a carpenter? hehe... not so fun already... thanks!
  11. Aquarix, do you make cabinets? I'm also looking for 4x1.5
  12. wow excellent scaping man... is it really necessary to use so many pumps in the tank? Like creating a storm in there
  13. hi, pmed you on the tank, or setup.
  14. hey bro, sorry to hear of your fish man.... but don't give up!!! not now!!!
  15. Wow fuel! THanks! I've got another question: when you don't use mechanical, then how often do you suck out the detritus from your sump? I'm planning my tank now, and was thinking of chanelling the water to a low flow area, where detritus can settle, then i can just suck everything out from there. think it'll work? so there's still mechanical, but not in the form of wool and all, jsut a collection of waste in some corner of the sump where i cna just suck all out.
  16. how big? maybe got ppl want... no harm trying!
  17. I'm still very confused here..., got some questions below: 1) So, what causes nitrate build up? I seem to be hearing some varying reports. Let me explain. 1st reason: because ceramic rings, biohome, bio balls etc clog up and cause detritus to rot away. 2nd reason: because the stuff(ceramic rings, biohome, bio balls) contains too much bacteria and produces more nitrates. 2) Is it ok then not to have any form of mechanical filtration, except skimming? 3) Is DSB considered a nitrate export method? thanks for your help!
  18. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...topic=39803&hl= this guys's selling without cabinet and sump... maybe you can custom make one on oyur own
  19. Ok, I found this site too with really nice tanks too... quite different from some tanks i've seen... very nice colours! and weird lighting configurations? It seems like they've even got halogen lighting? Some jap fish tanks
