for me, I would prefer to put some sand, some live rock, and grow cheato there to hlep reduce the nitrates. Could grow some red bamboo there as well, so that can use that as 'food' for the tangs.

I tried this method, and it works perfectly and it is eco-friendly. What I did was to get a needle and syringe from your local doctor and then freshly squeezed a lemon and then filled it in the syringe and then inject the aiptsia each with about 3ml of lemon juice and then see them shrink and then slowly see bubbles come from them, and then about 5 min, they will die. So far so good for me, managed to kill off 4 by this method. the aiptsia is like 10 cents in diameter when fully open. So with lemon juice can kill them off easily.

if so many clowns/fishes die in just short time, either the water is not too good, or just in the rocks. recommend do a 20% change of water, let it stabilise for 2 weeks and then slowly add the new fishes.

Maybe I should clearly explain my situation to you seniors so that you can advise me better. My this 2ft tank is next to my 5-room balcony so it does get the sun most of the time. I really don’t want to add extra lights as I know this will heat up the tank. Also since it is next to the balcony, the windows next to it will get the heat. I intend to use existing PL lights for viewing at night only. In the day the natural sunlight is more than sufficient. The weipro 2011 I don’t intend to run 24/7 unless I do not use the canister. My original intention was to use the canister as the main water circulation method (and filtration) and then the Weipro to skim. Weipro will be on like in the evening so that the water will cool down and the pump will not add extra heat. So now the question is about lighting and heat? As currently I have another 2ft tank with sump, and electrical cost raising, I want to cut down on electrical bills.

Ok, waht is the ideal temperature for the anemone? can they can get used to the high 31 degrees water? In your opinion, in a 2ft tank, can I put 3 medium szie anemone - is there any danger if one anemone touches the other anemone? I may have to include a fan to cool the water. in my design of the 2ft tank, there is no sump, just a partition to separate the pumps from the main tank. I will use a cansister also to act as a water circulation device. The cansister inlet will be behind in the partition.

we can perhaps meet at Fernvale LRT one of these day then we can walk there.

Well, this is the other point, that I want to know. What temperature is suitable for anemone? Is 30 degrees too high. what about lighting, if I am putting besides the window, they will get a lot of natural light right? Is that ok? Yes the naturl sunlight also comes with heat? so I intend to put the Weipro skimmer on timer, and have a cansister to do the routine overflow and filtering of water. I can put a 2ft PL light to light up the tank at night. The evening since it is next to the window, temperature should drop back down to about 27-28 degrees before warming up again in the afternoon. This is similar to what an anemone would feel if it is stuck in a tidal pool. Any comments?

Despite 2 failed attempts at trying anemone, I will still not give up. Now trying new project, need some advise. What I want to do is, 1. Take a 2ft tank. 2. Put in the fresh water type partition (with holes drilled into it) and then with 6 side partition supports attach the partition to divide the tank into 2 half. One bigger than the other. 3. the smaller half will put a Weipro 2011 pump and skimmer. And also a 'return pump' using a powerhead. 4. the bigger half to put anemone and fishes. Any comments of this type of design, This will definitely stop any anemone getting minced by any powerhead or pump. If accident happe, the skimmer will hopefully skim off any dangerous particles. Any comments??

yes, if you really want to give away, I will gladly adopt the black, ugly-looking cucumber. Thanks.

it will break in time, and you get clean sand. Also helps if you have a good clean-up crew. For my 2 ft tank, I have a cuke (about 4"-7" "when fully stretched out), 3 hermit crabs, 5 snails). When the cuke poos out the compacted sand, after a while when the clumsy hemit crabs moves around, the compacted sand will be broken down.

give to me can. I don't have bad experiences with it at all. I had mine for at least a year now. Only problem, it disturbs the tube worm who is not securely attached to the sand or rocks as it goes over the surface of the sand cleaning it.

I am a newbie, I thought that you can have some algae planted in your sump, allowing the alage to grow - this will aid to bring bring the nitrates and Ph and many other things. Also good for the biological envirnoment of the tank. My two-cents worth? Please correct me if I am wrong? Any Seniors?

good idea to put 3 hang-on filter with the various functions well thought out - worth a try. with your bioload low, this could work very well. Set it up and give it a try. To me, a skimmer is always important, for 1.5ft may if space permi, put a weipro 2011 for efficient skimming power or an external proper skimmer. the air stone type is in my opinion, a waste of time and resources (low efficieny, frequent change of wooden airstone etc) Get it up and try.

I would like to have some (2 or 3) please. PM Me. Cheers.

get the black sea cucumber. Ugly but very effecitive to keep your sand clean and white. You want one thing (nice, white, clean sand) so no choice get the other thing (black, ugly cucumber)

are these count as soft-corals? Are they diffucult to look after. even mushrooms and zoos don't do very well under my care - which is minimum. I don't wish to turn on the T5 lights (only 4 hours per day - in the evening). No chillers, just have Weipro skimmers.

Yes, the foxface does have a "trademark" block spot near the tail when it matures. the foxface also has the ability to camoflage itself at night when hiding in the shadows between the rocks. Do not be surprise when one night you look at the whole foxface becomes grey in colour.

I have run sort of a FWOLR and since last National Day did only 3 or 4 water change - a pail or two each time, and the tank/fishes still ok. although has some algae problem due to the fact hat I am using tap water other than that the tank is ok. fishes and alive and well. growing well too.
-
i don't mind adopting 2 if that is ok with you. I stay Hougang. Thanks.

Sorry the tank/gavel looks so new, may not have even cycled yet???

http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=45280 http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?act=ST&f=6&t=52502 After the last two threads, I realise that I can combine these two into a super-duper no-fail anemone pico tank. Any comments anyone. Why I say fail-safe? 1. There is no ######/cutting powerheads or anything in the main tank where the anemone is. 2. Even if there is, the Weipro 2011 will immediately take care of it. 3. The flowrate of the Weipro is fast enough for the water in a 1ft tank to go several times around. I only intend to have 2 clownfishes, 1 hermit crab, 1 cleaner shrimp and 1 anemone. What are your comments? Anemone_Tank.doc
