  1. what I did when I was starting was this . . . not that you should follow me. I went to Punggol beach and collect a pail of sea water. Pour into tank, then run it through the filter, then check the specific gravity then add salt to te necessary s.g. It works, the fishes can survive for 2 months until the eventual crash due to the fact that it was only a 1ft tank - (it was my trial) now I have a 2ft tank and I now mix my own water using tap water and put in the anti-chlorine treatment (buy from LFS) and then add in the salt. It works also. I am also aware that most LFS sell the Natural Sea Water (NSW) as a pack. So the choice is yours.
  2. if you want to cover the whole top surface with LEDs to give that sufficient amount of light, you might as well go for a simple FL or PL lighting - this will not heat up the tank so much.
  3. great job with the CNC.
  4. cool tank, great idea about having a thicker sand bed to compensate for the lighting. Cool - looks like I can copy that idea for my 1ft pico tank.
  5. In my personal opinion, LED will not be able to make it. LED night light is ok, as it is decorative, the white light I think if you use a normal 1ft FL light is then ok. Having so many white LED has not the effect of just 1x20W FL light.
  6. no point right???? If you do everything right, the dead rock will turn into live rock - after a long long time if you add the correct additives, then dead will become alive....
  7. I agree. What I did was to add those "bacteria starters" tablets that can be found in the aquarium shops. This can speed up the cycling process a little faster. But I still would wait 1 week before putting in the cheaper hardier fishes for about 1 week before putting in your desired beautiful fishes.
  8. I have two puffer fish - can give you one if you give. PM me and come and collect.
  9. can your lights be used on a 2ft? Is it too powerful? Pls advise. Thanks.
  10. I got a firend who needs Live Sand - I will take the live rocks. Will contact him and then let you know.
  11. Personally I thought that anyting less than 2ft is a nano - while anything less than 1ft is a pico. Thus many of the fellow reefers uses the specially made tank where the size is 9.4"x6.1"x7.55" - http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php? showtopic=43254&st=0&#entry508075 http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=43588 http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=42890 - these are what I think is good examples of what a pico tank is like. They are actually very small and have no sump connected to them. I am think of something as small as that - but with a sump - to increase the water volume and so less maintenance required. Thus I am still researching and considering. My 2-cents worth.
  12. Sorry a question Bro, a) this is a 2ft FL or T5? The ballast where you buy? Any recommendation? c) the various parts? d) can I get parts from Aquamarin? Thanks.
  13. Great work, if grow bigger, don't mind adopt from you. Keep us infromed.
  14. Nic tank, pls resizie pictures before posting, which makes viewing more pleasant. Keep up great work.
  15. in this picture there is a feather duster, is this for sale?
  16. So far in my main tank, I only see hermit crab attacking the turbo snails for their shells. So I think hermit crabs (the blue legged ones) are reef safe.
  17. I saw some feather duster in your pics, interested in them, can collect anytime, I stay in Hougang you stay Punggol. Willing to take all at reasonalble price from you.
  18. I really want to start again. I had started a pico tank - a 1ft but cannot stand the weekly changing of the 10% water. I will try again once I can clear some space on my office table. will put 1 firefish, 1 feather duster, 1 starfish, I hermit crab, 1 cleaner shrimp. That should be already enough for such a small tank.
  19. Great job on the tank. Really want to put a 2ft tank in my office too. But really scared on the maintenance. Too busy to do the periodic changing of the 10% water. How do you do it regarding your maintenance?
  20. it is used for clipping the algae(seawood) for the fishes to eat.
  21. not to "flame" you, but this is just a tank with a "dead" coral inside - not much "life" inside isn't it? I thought that you can do better than this.
  22. Nice tank, inspiring pictures. Keep the pictures coming.
  23. What type of lights are these PL or T5?
