JasonM, I am looking a few small frags of the blue mushrooms, I know they are a bit expensive, can trade the smaller ones please. I am currently doing a school project with my students where they are suppose to frag soft corals - but when you buy from the LFS - they normally charged us t very high prices. So if can, can you donate 3-4 polyps to us so that we can frag them and then return them back to you.

sorry to hijack - since we are discussing alternative nutrient export - can I use the DSB as part of the sand fluidser (or-what-you-call-that) where the water is pumped through fine grade sand so that bacteria can grow inside the sand? What I mean is that there is one part where the water is pumped through the sand so that the sand can help clear the nutrient excess. any comments?

Actually in that new tank, there is already Live Rock but I put these two puffer fish to increase cycling rate. Also to allow me to take picture (if not these 2 are in my another 2ft tank at the bottom in the sump). By the way I did not buy these 2 puffer fish at any LFS I caught them at the beach.

I got 2 of these puffer fish. Is it okay to keep them in the tank with other fishes? Now they are in my sump, and I just put them into a new 2 ft tank to aid my cycling of it. Pls advise.

no lah, algae in my opinion can put anywhere. but because of other main tank, your fishes can eat the algae. But if you have non-algae eating fishes, can put in main tank. The other reason I can think of is that the algae can get loose and float around.

good idea though. I feel that the amount of nutrient would depend on the amount of livestock inside nano tank. On the whole, putting cheato would greatly increase the beauty of the tank instead.

I am a secondary school teacher and as such I am leading 2 groups in their project work. Their project is to frag and proprogate soft marine corals. as such they need to set up a tank. can you donate some live rocks for this experiment? they will have to set up now so that in the March school holidays then the tank will be stabilse. I never try. But I know that the eggcrate is made from plastics. So I guess that they should be able to withstand the heat from the T5.

In my opinion, put on main tank. Why? The main tank needs the cooling. If put in sump, then when go through the return pump, heats up again. Also, if fan is in main water, the evaporation rate also cools the water there. if can put 2 fans lah, then both got cooling effect.

one question, how often you replace the water - every 2 week? how many %?
