  1. have 1 1ft tank, common fresh water type. Sell you at $2 (token price) come collect at Hougang. PM me if you want.
  2. I actually took a 7-11 Big Glup cup and then cut slots in them and put the intake of the cansister inside the cup, but not good. When I went back back in the afternoon, everything gone - dead even the worms in the water also dead. I just flush everything into the toilet. When I clean the cansister found some anemone in the cansister, that's why I think everything dead - the toxin has gone into the water. So now, 2ft tank empty. Waiting for the next time got time then restart the water and cycling of tank again. Thanks all for the advise. I NEVER like anemone but because my son wanted a clown and then it needs a anemone and then and then .... sad. Next time will be more careful.
  3. interested in your cansister and chiller. how much and what are the specs of the chiller? how long you have that chiller? what HP is it?
  4. I intend to go back flush everything into the toilet , then wash/rinse the rock with mushrooms/zoos then replace into my other main tank, the balance of live rock into the sump. then clean and wash my cansister. then slowly restart again by cycling the water and rocks. More or less this is an offical tank-crash.
  5. Last night after coming back from church discover that the anemone got sucked into the inlet of the cansister filter. Off the cansister filter and the anemone managed to come off but badly damaged. I thought that leaving it in the water will be alright so that it can recover. But alas, this morning before work when I went to check, even the clownfishes in the water is dead. The dying anenome apparrantly died and poison the whole 2ft tank. I will clear it tonight when I return. Question is now what about the live rock, will the toxins from the dying anemone going inside the live rock. Must I soak the live rock in fresh water (some is with mushrooms and zoos) to remove the toxins. If yes, how long do I soak - 15 mins is sufficient? Please advise. Thanks.
  6. I would say activated carbon, phosphate removal media (sorb4, RowaPhos etc..) and maybe Pura Nitratelock. Just my humble opinion. where to buy the highlighted items??? Thanks.
  7. I would like to collect Coral 1 - please contact me so that I can arrange for best collection time. Thanks.
  8. I have this return pump, was running it for about 1 year. Bought 2nd hand from fellow reefer. Was doing maintenance. Then after that when touch the water, got mild electric shock, checked then start to turn on all electrical stuff then slowly tun on one by one to check, then realised it is the return pump. Dismantle and then let it dry. Question now is that should I try to reconnect this pump back? Because the current one I am using is a little underpowered, may not have enough flow back to the main tank. Please advise.
  9. Due to the long stretch during the June school Holidays, the tank was closed, when transferred into another 2 ft tank, the clownfishes fell sick and died. The tank was then decommissioned. Was think of restarted with only 1 clown and anemone next academic year. Now my pet hobby is radio-controlled flying - helicopters. Until next year.
  10. also checked this reefer's past posts to the forum. He is always like that, post something then gives VERY VERY BAD comments to all.
  11. So offensive. I have reported you to the Admin to suggest him to remove this thread. This is getting out of hand.
  12. actually can go Sim Lim Tower Basement they sell a strip of Blue LEDs already done nicely $30 with a power supply just plug and then lights up.
  13. 3)Dirt and detritus will be trap on the surface of the sandbed. There will be dead spots in every tank, so I am sure you cannt possibly siphon off the detritus fully. Prolong period, nitrates will increase follow by phosphate. You will face the algae problem and most likely brown algae growing on the sand bed. After lets say 6mths, a layer of dirt will cover the sandbed and cause the sandbed to get clogged. After that, water can no longer pass through the sand bed and this is the so called anaerobic process???(think is something like this). When water can no longer pass through the sandbed, the whole sandbed will be like a toxic layer and it is like a time bomb. If happen that 1 day u accidentally stir up the sandbed or fishes may do that. The whole system may crash. Er, then when the sandbed gets clogged, then how??? how to clear up the sandbed. My 2ft tank is something like this, and I have a black sea cucumber whcih is trying to clear uop the dirt, and I think I will be having a phosphate probelm as the brown hair algae is growing everywhere. I intend to use a cansister, then rescape and trying to make the dirt flow up and then hopefully the cansister can clean up much of the water. Any comments how best to clean the dirty sandbed?

  17. the last time, I soak for about 15 min, all the worms came out and died. When soaking I put a airstone with a air-pump to circulate the fresh water in a pail. 15- 20 min should do the trick to "kill" most pests.

  21. whoa, you must have a rather large tank to keep a 1.5ft shark???
  22. actually not. asmy tank is only a 2ft with 1 rabiitfish, 1 regal tang, 2 africa clownfish, 2 blue chromis, 2 banggai cardinal, 1 firefish, 1 yellow goby, 1 maroon clown. so i don't know I will still observe as it only grows its head back recently so I will check it now daily. it is a pity that only in the early monring that you can see the red head coming out.
  23. I bought this red coco worm about 3 months ago. Then after 1 month, it dropped the head. Then I thought it was dead. Lucky, I did not remove it from the tank. I just left it at a corner at the back. Last evening, I happen to move it to the fornt of the tank. Just early this morning, I noticed that the head has grown back and it is now alive again. Lucky, that I never throw it away. So now the question, why during the day, I never noticed that the coco worm comes out, but only in the night time, how can I allow it to come ot all day? All advise from any experts please? Thanks.
