after 3 failed attempts at keeping anemones, I will share my experience. Try not to have any powerhead/suction devices in the same tank as the anemones as they will have the chance of being caught and sucked into these intakes. (there are ways to prevent this type of accident from happening - just surf the internet to check) Anemones require a chiller to survive or unless you can keep the water temperature low - about 28 degrees is best or else the anemone will keep moving and changing position to try to find a "cooler" spot in your tank. If you don't have chiller the most the anemone will last about 3-4 weeks before showing signs of distress. Actually I have seem real live anemones in beaches in Desaru - when it is at low tide and the anemone is expose to the "hot sun" for about 3 hours during low tide but they can still survive in the wild but in our fish tank temperature is an issue to them. Hope you have success keeping anemones.

Aquamarin do bring them in. I think these shrimps are seasonal, some months you will find almost any LFS will sell, sometimes cannot even find anyone selling them. So look around the LFS and ask them when the shipment is coming.

Whoa your trial 2ft is better than my existing 2ft. Keep up the good work.

Basing on my experience working with acrylci, using choloroform is okay. But using ONLY choloroform to join and build a any fish tank is crazy as the joint will not be strong enough to hold any water. The cholorofom works best if you have cut 2 pieces of acrylic and you want to join back to side, then just place them together and using a water-colour paint brush to dip into the choloroform then run the "wet" brush along the edge of the acrylic pieces to be join and you can "see" the choloroform flowing in between the joints. Hold together fro about 15-20 sec, then can let go. The joint should be bonded. But this is not strong enough to withstand the water pressure and also this joint may not be water-tight. in fact high chance of water leakage. So you still need to apply the silicone. Buy the clear ones from the hardware shops, there are 2 grades, one type for fish tank - more expensive, the other the normal grade used for bathroom/general water proofing. Can buy the cheaper ones, but advise you soak the tank in water for a few days before using - for the chemicals to be purge from the silicone. If you need more help with choloroform can contact me. Can come to my workshop for assistance - in Hougang.

Marine plant/algae in a fowler's tank
cdckjn replied to eDen's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
In my MOST honest opinion, if you just want some colour, just buy some plastic plants. There are some plastic plants that do look like the algae/corals that is like real. Think about it. If you have other fishes, then red bamboo lokks great, and if your water parameters is okay, they will grow well. -
adding salt direct into sump?
cdckjn replied to ridzwan21's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
I would add the salt into a small container of the tank water to dissolve the salt 1st, then pour the extra salty water into the sump, 1st compartment also can as then the water will be mixed through the sump then goes into the main tank. Then do a check on s.g. about 30 min later. -
you need to get the needle and the syringe, aim directly into the mouth and then push the needle into middle of the body and then squeeze the lemon juice inside, at this time, the aiptsia will shrink and I could see bubbles started coming out already as the lemon juice goes in. I inject about 1-2ml (I used a 10ml syringe) you can inject more if you want.

I tried the copperband but it died after about 2 weeks, although in the other tank it manage to eat off several before it went up the lorry. after that I just wash out the whole tank and restarted again. So in the current main tank when I got them again, that's why I resorted to lemon. I guess if you can reach these aiptsia and they are big, 5 cents size, then injecting a little lemon will not cause too much of a problem. This is provided that you are able to reach into the live rock to inject the lemon juice.

I had 2 once in my 2ft tank, no fighting leh. Perhaps because I put them in at the same time.

snowflake eel can release in sg seas?
cdckjn replied to ClOwNy_LoVeR's topic in General Reefkeeping_
can post pic of eel? BTW what does it eats? I think you should give it back to the LFS instead of releasing it back to the sea. I think that it is not repsonsible as we should check out the feeding habits or at less find out how to take carr of the fish before buying it. 2 cents worth
