  1. Be a bit careful with the angle-iron, even with the 2 coats of anti-rust, rust spots can set in very quickly. Otherwise very nice attempt. If your live rock comes from another reefer, after 1 week of cycling you can slowly add fishes SLOWLY. But if not then better wait for 3-4weeks before adding fishes. SPS would require you to add chiller.
  2. My FOWLR tank has some brown mushroom which thrives well in a tank 30-31 degrees. The zoos from another reefer is also ok and now added more PL lights to try to brighten them up. My opinion 30-31 degrees only some soft corals/LPS may thrives some will definitely not so it you can test slowly so as not to be disappointed.
  3. I recommend you wear the rubber gloves as it is almost ALWAYS after handling the rocks - hands/fingers becomes very itchy and painful to touch. The gloves do help in reducing the itch.
  4. wash them well and then can let them eat. my clownfish do enjoy it when we have crabs for dinner.
  5. In my opinion, I will vote for the red as it is nice, cheaper, and one is ok enough for my nano tank (2ft). The purple is nice but very expensive and I have not tried it yet and don't intend to try unless the current livestock in my tank has problems.
  6. I think that if you want to keep corals, it is ALWAYS best to have a chiller. As you would want to turn on the lights for the corals to grow but since the lights are on, these generate heat the water warm up and the corals will not do well. Thus it becomes a "chicken and egg" problem, therefore you will have to have the chiller.
  7. I have a black sea cucumber, a couple of snails, 2 starfish - all these in my 2ft tank - a great clean-up crew.
  8. Collect from Keith - thanks for waiting for me. Cheers.
  9. When handling live rocks with bristle worms inside them - please remember to wear gloves - else they can "poke" you with the bristles and it can be rather painful after that.
  10. It is a nudibranch. Best next time when buying zoos - to soak the whole thing in plain fresh water for at least 15 min - all these pests will then fall off and you can throw them away. Then put the zooz into main tank.
  11. I PM you an offer, can reply me Thanks.
  12. Draw us a design sketch so that we can perhaps help you, Cheers.
  13. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...opic=61919&st=0 take a look at this reefer's arrangement of his live rock. Hope that it helps.
  14. if you stack your tonga branches at the bottom with other rocks, you can get caves and overhangs nicely. I like your 2 piles of rocks, this is better than the 1st try. Good Luck.
  15. HA HA I was digging about in the beach at Desaru and actually found some. FOC on the beach.
  16. for me now it is just either to close and decomm completely or not it is a single FOWLR tank with the simplest basic skimmer/lights setup so that you only need to top up water and feed fishes BECAUSE anything else simply takes too much money and time.
  17. try this homemade solution - this works for me. so you can try if you are ok with this to kill the pest. Buy 1 lemon from NTUC? cut and juice it ( the rest of juice you can drink - makes good lemonade) get a syringe with needle (can try to get from family doctor) and then fill syringe with lemon juice then inject it into the aiptasia in the centre and then squeeze the lemon juice inside and then watch the aiptasia shrink from the lemon juice acid. This should kill the aiptasia. Be careful not to cut the aiptasia as apparantly even the smallest part of this pest can grow into a fully grown aiptasia later on. There are other ways to destroy this - by getting fishes, prawns but so far this direct way works fastest for me.
  18. If I can add my 2-cents worth, you have a variety of types of liverock - tonga branche, flat pieces, etc, my suggestion, either stack them into 2 larger stacks or 1 single big one in the centre so that the water can flow all around and as your tank is in the center of your room, then you can have a view of the tank in 3 views, a single large pile of rocks may be the interesting way to go!
  19. if I am not mistaken, most fishes and even FOWLR tanks don't require chiller, it is the corals that would appreciate the cooler temperature to do well. good luck.
  20. I realise that nowsadays at the LFS, the cleaner shrimp are always so small, no wonder that they get whacked, I keep only one and now grow to at least 2 inches and I just left it in the sump. So my thoughts that if they are too small they will get whacked - buy the bigger ones.
  21. Sorry after checking a bit about this fish - realise that they will eat shrimps, hermit crabs etc - I want a wrasse that will help me clear the bristleworm problem or at least keep it in control. Thanks. So now not interested in the fish already. Cheers.
  22. Where you are located? Can sent to me? I am in Hougang - got no car - this week's schedule also very tight - almost everyday overtime to about 8pm. Thanks. SMS me can - will PM you my handphone.
