  1. I notice something even weirder! In order to prevent the clown from kicking up a sandstorm, I specially tied a bundle of macroalgae and put them at the spot where the clown loves to stir up the sandstorm. LEFT ANEMONE RIGHT (digs here, so macroalgae put here) The clown stared at the macroalgae for a long time... then... he went over, bit the bunch of algae, picked it up, and moved the heavy bunch to the left side!!! I didn't believe it, so I moved it back. And the crazy clown again grabbed the bunch with his mouth, and shifted it to the left side! He carried it for a distance 10 cm, so that he can dig a hole in the sand! Damn weird sia!!!
  2. Then you might as well get a computer, install a marine screensaver and run it!
  3. My previous anemones were moving all over the place. I tried to make them happy with their original locations by giving them lots of light and arrange a nice hole (with LRs) for them to hide. Avoid overfeeding coz that kills anemones. I found out the hard way...
  4. Is it available locally? Price?
  5. Sorry, what is red bamboo algae? Any pictures?
  6. All the shops in Pasir Ris Farmway 2 are almost bare and empty. I just came back from there. Irwana selling 12 damsels for $10, and the rest are some sickly looking fishes which I don't know their names. There are a couple of boxer shrimps though. The ah beng shop has almost no fishes left but the anemones and corals are still there.
  7. I have paired my golden maroon clowns before. The trick is to get two that are very different in size. If one is not much bigger than the other, then they will fight non stop until a champion emerges. However, if there is a much bigger one, the smaller one will know that he is no match for her and the fighting ceases. My previous maroon clowns:
  8. I just called Reborn and they say their golden maroon comes never came. Hmm...
  9. Gold stripe ones? Are they big? Last Saturday I went over to Reborn, I only found the normal white stripe maroon clowns.
  10. Can anyone please update if there are any golden maroon clowns selling in the LFS? Thanks...
  11. http://www.thebluetempeh.blogspot.com/ The places they went are within Singapore waters. Amazing!
  12. I am looking high and low for a golden maroon clown (large). I'd appreciate if anyone could drop me a PM or post here sharing where I could buy one. I searched the shops in Pasir Ris Farmway 2 and Reborn, but to no avail.
  13. Huh? Really? Wouldn't the rubber band give off toxic stuff and harm your fish and corals? I'm just wondering...
  14. Heh, here's some pics of the fish! http://www.oceanlight.com/lightbox.php?sp=Gramma_melacara In the meantime we can just drool at the pictures...
  15. Wow... great job! One question, how did you take care of the ventilation of your light set?
  16. Any shops to recommend for me to seek their help on modifying my 55W PL (with housing) to a T5 set? Preferbly central or western SG. I'll need an e-ballast, 2 T5 tubes and end caps. Thanks!
  17. Sometimes if the fish is happy (not stressed) then it will have better immunity to diseases and illnesses. So your goby might pull through... My clowns and tangs died of ich but my fire gobies and a maroon clown survived, likely because they are kept happy while the newcomers are still shocked and stressed and died.
  18. I changed my 55W PL e-ballast twice. Quite easy but make sure you buy one that is the same size. Those e-ballast I buy are cheap, from the lighting shop around my area. It is a long metal box with no brand labels. I think it's around $12.00. There're only 2 wires to connect to the power, and 4 to a PL tube.
  19. You use cotton or nylon thread to tie the seaweed to the LRs? Can use rubber band instead?
  20. How do u feed your tang? Throw in one bunch and they'll eat? Or you tie to a LR?
  21. Wah... yours ate? Mine didn't and its hunger strike lasted 2 weeks. It was really thin before it died. Keep us informed of your angel!
  22. Hi, I noticed my maroon clowns and my previous false perculas like to dig holes in my sandbed. It makes the water really dirty. Download the video here. (XViD encoded, if you cannot play the video, please get the decoder here) I'm wondering why the clown fish are doing this... Then I got this idea. My anemone is too near to the sandbed and the anemone tentacles don't really like to touch the sandbed. So somehow... the clownfish know this and dig holes around the anemone so that its tentacles have enough clearance to avoid touching the sand. There is a period of time when my anemone is located high above the sandbed and my clowns didn't dig holes. Or is there a better explanation for their strange behaviour?
  23. In memory of his previous girlfriend, whom he knew only for a week... "C'mon dear, the camera's ready! Say cheese!" *snap* A nice couple shot She died of ich. I should have done the freshwater dip treatment! Hope that his new love would be free of sickness.
  24. My plate coral (taken in the old tank; days ago) My tiny sun coral frag (opens only in actinic coz my PL is too bright) Any suggestions for my tank? Like in the LR/corals arrangement, future corals or livestock to acquire? Thanks!
  25. Thanks for your comments! I added two of my existing LRs into the tank since they have mushrooms and I fear that they may die if kept in a pail. My lights came back to life today, for some unknown reason! So I took some photos. The only fish in my tank! I'll get him a gf this weekend! Hehehe...
