I got it still "hot" from the cargo while it is being unpacked. There is only one among the lot of perculas that has arrived. Thus, the chances of it being cut by human means is almost nil - couldn't have recovered so quickly during shipment. I suspect that it could be natural defect, or as nutx has mentioned that it's tail could have been bitten off by other fishes when young. These conclusions are all based on the fact by looking at the tail's outline.

Just an update after 1 day of usage: The chiller works real well when compared to my previous one (Teco Micro running 24/7). The noise it produced is a slightly louder than my previous chiller, and it cools down my 2 footer in 20 mins time from 27.3 degrees to 24.6 degrees (the factory's default settings is 25 degrees). Which after that I adjusted the setting to 25.4, and the chiller will kick in at 25.8 degrees and off at 25 degrees. Chilling time is less than 10 minutes. I guess it could be my hot room ambient temperature & equipment used, the thing I notice is my tank get heated up very fast in about 1 hours time to 25.8 degrees, which than the chiller kicks in again to chill it off to 25.0. Thus the ratio of my chiller's performance is 1 hour rest : <10 mins run. Is there anything I can do to decrease the kick in time? Apparently my chillers' kick in temperature is 0.8 degrees. Have read the manual but couldn't find any instruction to deal with this. Conclusion: Pros : An overall quiet & efficient chiller. Cons: Can't adjust kick in temperature. One thing to note is that the chiller is REALLY heavy ..

He didn't offer me leh ... I got myself the Arctica Titanium Chiller instead .. Posted a topic just now in the marine equipment forum for reefers who have experience using it to give me some advice. Of course I won't mind lah .. hehe

Just wanna find out whether any reefers here is using this model. I will be collecting mine tom - getting the 1/10hp model (DBA-075) for my 2 footer. Any comments about this chiller?
