  6. AC has a few maxima left. Iwarna dont have, GO dont have, sheng xiong dong have...
  7. True and that is one of the advantages of having a big tank. That why i think for small tank two feet and below, shape and size of rock is really crucial.
  8. no problem bro, welcome to share. one thing i dont understand from your picture is that the basket with algae screen and air stone, is it suppose to be totally submerse in the sump?
  9. If it melts more than 50% and shows no sign of recovering, rubbish bin it shall be in.
  10. Creating a topic to share same pointers on arranging LR in the tank. Many a time new hobbyist overlooked the important of having the "right" scaping. LR is like the housing pillars, it is almost impossible to change it once you have coral glued to them. The reborn uncle only taught me two selection factors when i bought my first batch of LR from him and till today i find it useful. 1) bottom 1/3 of your tank should be filled with "base" rock. Dont buy those fat big round rock. Buy those funny shape 凹凸不平types to minimize dead zone contact area with the sand to avoid debris trap. 2) the 2/3 of your tank shall be filled with tonga branch type of LR. easier to place coral on them and wont obstruct the wave that much. Think of it this way, for that one cm cube of space in your tank, do you want it to be occupied by LR or water. The answer should be water. Cos fish and coral rely on water to thrive. Rock is there mainly to serve as a placeholder for coral. So you will want to arrange your LR in M or W instead of B... no flat lying piece of rock... And yes, if you rely mainly on the LR in your DT as the main bio filter, then your fish is in deep sh*t...
  11. Bro, ur LR and sand look too clean, very lifeless. Is there algae in ur tank?
  12. My xenia same fate, melted when my NO3 become undectable. Some ATS websites even spelled out that xenia is the coral that suffered when employ a successful ATS...
  13. Bro, what salt do you use? U want to post a FTS to help us in analysis?
  14. If u have ammonia means that ur tank is not ready yet... go get a nitrate tester, cost u less thán a fish loss...
  15. Review: DIY ATS The idea of ATS is pretty simple: provide an ideal place for all the algae to grow so that they won’t be growing in the DT. As usual, before I DIY my own ATS in my HOD filter, I read up quite a fair bit on ATS. To summary things up, for a successful ATS: 1) Flow has to be quick and random 2) Strong lighting, suggested at 1W per inch square of canvas sheet 3) Rough and uneven surface in the canvas sheet 4) Regular trimming/ cleaning of the ATS (once a week is idea) So with all the requirements in mind, I purchased a canvas sheet (with 2mm holes) and a 10W ATS (450nm and 650nm) lights during my last business trip in china. The plan is simple, use three canvas sheets for my ATS so that I can rotate them and wash one each week (to minimise the overall disruption to the ATS ability to absorb nutrients). The lighting is set to 18 hours ON and 6 hours OFF daily. The result: The photo was taken three weeks after running the ATS. No doubt there is some algae growth in the ATS but I was not extremely impressed by volume of it. Not sure whether it is because my NO3 and PO4 are undetectable when I started my ATS or it is because the flow rate is not fast enough (the HOB is rated at 700l/hr). Anyway, I have subsequently removed one of the sheet and left with two sheets and will continue to assess the progress. Hopefully with more space in between the two sheets, the growth will be faster. Lastly, I guess ATS would be most effective to set up in the first few months of new tank where nutrients, NO3, PO4 are plentiful. Algae in three sheets (after three weeks)
  16. Anemone moves for a good reason. You glue it, it will mati. Simple as that...
  17. Bro, not to discourage you but have you think of how you going to maintain the water low nutrients with the number of fishes you have now? The feeding and the fish waste. Go AM and take a look at their SPS DT to estimate how many fish to keep in order to maintain the colourful sticks colourful. I personally has seen a five feet SPS tank with only two fish inside...
  18. Bro your tank is 3 feet * 1 *1? I dont consider your stock level high at all. Your 9002 skimmater is green tea or kopi or kopi o? The problem with your current equipment is that there is no media for BB. Rowophos and AC cannot absord NO3. Possible to convert your chaeto hob to biosphere filled?
  19. Oki. Few questions first, what are the fishes you have and how much how frequence and what do you feed them? Do you have skimmer? ATS? any mechanical and bio filter media?
  20. Bro, you shall build up your Bio filter, changing water is only for short term. If your rate of creation for nitrate is faster than your export rate, you NO3 is going to accumulate over times.
  21. Take a brush and brush them n time. Then wash them n time before putting in ur tank...
  22. Bring your own bottle. Collection at punggol. Interested party contact me at 8612 seven one eight two. Same story, my five anthais say they cannot finish the food... All the foods are stored in the chill section of the fridge so i believe the best by date shall be fine extended by at least by a month. Giving out the rest. The idea is to keep enough food for my 小花们for three months or so. 1) 1/4 bottle of unopenned artic pod (expiry end jan 2014) - two sets 2) 1/4 bottle of unopenned doctor g anti-parasite caviar. (No expiry date on bottle) - two sets 3) 1/3 bottle of oyster eggs (expiry date 20 dec 2014) - two sets 4) whole bottle of phyto live (80% left). This one is expired end sept 2014 liao. But i still feed occasionally. For those bro who want to target feed seafan/ sea whips/ etc can try. To be fair to other intetested reefer, each bro can choose two different sets from 1, 2, 3 or 4. Happy feeding.
