I am not supportive of NSW (not to mention 100% WC in non critical case) for two very simple reasons: 1) Zero LFS that uses NSW has a decent enough SPS tank. (AM use salt mix) 2) Stability is key in keeping a nice reef tank, changing 100% of water with some unknown para NSW is a risk Having said that, it is not my tank at risk so there is only that much I can say loh... but I always welcome anyone to join the I-am-decomming-becos-all -my-LS-die club....

Level of NO3 PO4 depends on ur feeding and the filter capacity of ur tank ah. More than a year old tank bb shall be matured liao.

Bro, i only have one question. At the point of time where ur nitrate is high, how old is your tank? Less than six month old?
-
_-" bro there is this process call acclimatisation...

Sudden drop in any para is stressful for fish and coral ah. Even is drop to a better level. 100% WC is only advisable if ur tank is in critical stage eg amonia super high, tank crash etc

Try upload a few pictures of your tank and setup here. It is a lot easier for us to advise you with picture.

Bro go buy a magnetic frag station. Put ur new sps on then start from lower half of ur tank then slowly adjust them upwards... else become bbq sps... [emoji27]

My 2*1*1 RYBs mixed (up) reef tank and random reef thoughts

03 Feb 2015 - Growth Three months into SPS and close to 9 months into my two feet tank. Been through the usual up and down for reefers and idea of decomm has crossed my mind at least twice in the period. Both occasion ended in major loss of my beloved fishes due to my own stupidity. Coral (LPS/ SPS) losses never cause me that much hearth pain as fish losses. Yup, I am just decorating the house preparing for the fishes. Below are the growth of my SPS in the short three months periods into them. No rare SPS, only colors that I love. I have not regretted venturing into the world of colorful sticks. Pink BN @ 05 Dec 2014 Now Radioactive BN @ Beginning Jan 2015 Now Green digi @ Dec 2014 Now (tips has increased quite a few) German Blue digi Beginning Jan 2015 (left side of photo), Forest Fire Dec 2014 (right side of photo) German Blue digi Now (tips has increased quite a few) Forest Fire Now (note the zoas growth) Clamopora @ sept 2014 Now I love growth, at least it makes me feel that there are somethings to show for my effort. -
Lumen 60 is 60 watt? Buy the best light you can afford, else it is only wasting $. I know it cos I also started with normal LED, thinking of saving some $... but ultimately, you will realise that buying a good lightset is cheaper than buying replacement coral every week... after cycled completed you can either add fish or anemone first also can... but they will just die... _-" go spend $5 buy a easy coral, put inside your tank, watch it for a few weeks, if it is doing well, then consider adding LS that you like. Do you have any filter wool in your IOS? get a return pump at least 20X your tank volumn lah. your mechanical filter is also as good as the speed water pass through it. For NO3, i run chemi pure AC

bro, you need to decide on the following: Lighting - fish, LPS, SPS all require diff lighting needs Mechanical filter - I dont see any in your tank yet, except the air stone protein skimmer which I guess is good for keeping one fish... Bio filter - ? Chemical filter - you have rowa for PO4, but what about NO3? The reasons a lot of small tank failed are that they are restricted to the available space. Think of it this way, if you design your equipment for a two footer, you wont have any margin of error. however if you plan for a 4 footer requirements for you two footers, you will have (in theory) a 100% buffer for error.

Improve survive rate of newly bought fish

keep any fish you want in your tank. but if the fish outgrow your tank, then u must be prepared to re-home them... as for feeding, feed what your fish eats loh. -
PH still is in acceptable range so can adjust up slowly. PO4 is 5 or 0.5? 5 sounds more like the reading of NO3...

Yup, if u DIY refil your own resin, there are diff type of resin out there.
